  1. hoping he plays himself back to a Major League player then either him or Lee can be used to get some pitching in the offseason
  2. I think it is a good idea for depth. This can push Varland to the BP and allow us to compensate for short starts from Festa and Zebby.
  3. I thought they would sign Rich Hill over the weekend and put him in the rotation
  4. Dobnak threw 3 innings yesterday, I think he goes as we will need the arm in the pen.
  5. Both teams got what they were looking for. Twins dumped a salary an opened up 2nd for Julien. Mariners got a 2nd baseman they wanted. It hasn't worked out for either side, but I bet they would both do it again.
  6. Martin may end up on the DL. But I would rather have Farmer/Correa then Lee/Martin. They both will be in St. Paul soon. Lee will be better his second time up, i.e. Jackson Holliday
  7. I would like to see them lock up Castro, and then use the Keaschall/Eeales of the world in trades. Prospects sometimes have more value this way, and we have plenty.
  8. When Carlos comes back another body will need to go. Unless it is an IL stint, I think that will be Lee. Unless the cord is cut on Margot
  9. I think that is exactly what the Twins are planning for. Larnach, Buxton, Wallner w/Castro as the 4th/utility and possibly Martin unless they send him packing in the offseason.
  10. True - but now way were the Twins a consideration for the White Sox or Tigers as divisional opponents
  11. According to The Athletic's Dan Hayes, the Twins discussed potential trades with the Chicago White Sox for Erick Fedde as well as the Detroit Tigers for Jack Flaherty. Those talks went nowhere after both teams asked for packages that included one of Brooks Lee, Walker Jenkins or Emmanuel Rodriguez, according to Hayes' reporting. Not looking to give up one of their high-end prospects for a three-month rental starter, the Twins' front office deemed that asking price a non-starter, Hayes said.
  12. I was hoping for some help to get us to chase down Cleveland. However, when I look at the prices paid for some of those dealt, with many being rentals. I think it may have been worse then no deal at all. The players like Margot, Kepler, Farmer, Vazquez weren't wanted. The price for Scott, Kukuchi and others was very high - and I think would have had the ire of everyone here for making those trades that most likely would have included the likes of Raya, Festa, Kuechel, Julian, Miranda, etc. The Padres emptied the gun with Scott and Houston overpaid for Kukuchi. Scubal, Chrochet weren't traded and the Twins weren't going to get the White Sox or Tigers to deal them within the division. Now to push to the postseason and see what happens.
  13. That is wish full thinking. I am hoping he gets through 4 without giving up over 5 runs
  14. True statement there as he is a FA - but a Wallner/Larnach with Martin maybe?
  15. Maybe we sweeten the pot with Martin/Kepler and see if we can pry Rooker away as well
  16. Although I don't want to see them go, lets be real. We are all complaining about non-movement, but the minute they do pull a deal this will shift to irritation of giving up a prospect. They are prospects, no matter how high they are rated. I don't see Detroit dealing with anyone in the Central. Personally I would love them to go for a top of the order pitcher - but that will cost someone like Lee/Festa. We will most likely settle for Quantrill. Or maybe we bring back Rooker as he looks to have established himself and is RH
  17. This makes a lot of sense to do - as he is gone in the offseason.
