  1. But the promotions will be sick! I, for one, can't wait for Plasma Donation Night! If enough of us pitch in, we might get a right-handed reliever next year!
  2. All of those guys will be in the rotation this year. There's just not enough inning build up for whoever the top five are to manage it through the year. Add in injuries and we'll surely see every one of them who is available. For the younger guys, it makes sense to go with the hot hand early. Unless something is probably wrong with Ober, he'll be in, but he's always gotten a shorter leash than the others. I'm curious how it will play out, even if the season will be brutal to watch at times.
  3. I'd like to see this team reward results a bit more. GG is an example of that. He was available and performed and he continues to do both. I appreciate having a big leaguer with experience, like Larnach, but we've been waiting years for him to come through with consistency. If the team is going to suck, let's reward the guys who are performing and get them the ABs and innings they need to succeed in the future.
  4. I like the idea, especially with someone else's cash, but I think it's been done a disservice by saying "competitive window". Maybe it depends on your definition of "competitive" or "window".
  5. When nit on the field, he should be on an IV drip at all times.
  6. You have to at least give him the start of the season. His profile has such potential. I think his 2025 is exacerbated by Larnach and his continued mediocrity. I'll never understand the Twins extending Lsrnach a 2026 contract.
  7. I don't disagree with anything here, but have also felt versions of this for the past few off-seasons. Fingers crossed we have a healthy year with some guys peaking at the right time.
  8. There is very little blame assigned to billionaires that outweighs having billions of dollars. It's one of the wonders of being disgustingly wealthy and owning the failing organization. Unless the Twins someone go bankrupt (which MLB won't allow), there's no price to pay for the Pohlads.
  9. Getting a professional, stabilizing force in the lineup is important for such a young team. But, I think that's Bell's role and there's even positional overlap. This team is going to be ok at best. The young guys need to be on the field and getting ABs. Overloading with old 1B/DH types goes against the long-term plan of seeing which young players will stick.
  10. It's so meta. This writing concept is the baseball blog equivalent of a March signing of Joey Gallo.
  11. Buck and Joe have been my favorite players on this team. It sounds like neither enjoys being the last at the party - some parties are better than others.... Anyway, my guess is both see how long this will take, Joe was almost traded anyway, and they would gladly be on a team that cares about winning. I wish them both luck. Until then, they can speak their minds about the BS ownership team.
  12. They certainly need to give him more run, through the end of this year. I'm not sure their developmental team or lineup approach has done him favors, as he's tried to crack the team in the majors. It would be cool to watch him seize a role, based on a larger sample size.
  13. Good call. Unless they are pushing to display health players for the off-season trade market, a shut down makes perfect sense.
  14. Nice get to have MacPhail explain the process. I'm glad the team is feeling urgency enough to allow that. I'd love to hear thoughts on Abel and Bradley, though they may be too high profile for that discussion, having had time in the majors.
  15. I saw Crews live on Saturday. He's a complete mess right now. Several Ks, one on three pitches, and lots of uncomfortable check swings. It was really ugly. To stand out in that way, in that lineup is hard to do. It looks like the season can't end soon enough for him, and he may already need a change of scenery.
  16. I'm honestly much more tired of watching and reading about Trevor Larnach. He's more consistent, maybe, but we know what he is and that's average. Wallner and Ks can get frustrating, but when he's on you can see the talent. It just rarely comes through for Larnach anymore. I'd let him walk, keep Wallner and see how the OF transitions with the AAA guys that are banging on the door.
  17. I get that pedigree matters somehow, but Louis was about to be the closer. Trading him for a maybe starter and a maybe 4th outfielder feels a bit short for a guy that could close with 5 years of control. I don't care as much about being from MN or not. But, what he is/will be feel like it is worth more, or xould have been worth more this off-season.
  18. Agreed with the comments. I'd have preferred a trade for a prospect rather than a lame attempt to balance upside with near-term. This feels like an attempt to please all timelines that will result in middling returns across both the short- and long-term
  19. You'd think we could package one of those relievers and Bader for a nice return from the Phillies. Their GM loves to take big swings, they could use both, and they have an aging team.
  20. I inadvertently got to see the Nats honor Wilson on Father's Day. As a Twins/Nationals fan, it was a cool moment to stumble across. I always loved watching that guy play.
  21. While it's not groundbreaking, I'm very happy to see this progression. I'm realizing this is something we normally don't get to witness - a very talented hitter growing into a veteran hitter. Usually, they aren't affordable for the Twins at this point, So, seeing Buck at this point is definitely something to appreciate. Watching him in key at bats in the recent past could be excruciating. He typically had half the field available to him, based on how he was pitched. It's cool to see the progress he's made with this new hitting coach (who was supposed to help with this exact issue).
  22. There's a ton of variance with these two teams. And Cleveland is still out there. Hopefully it ends up as a fun race with an ending we like!
  23. See which brings a better return in a change of scenery trade and have the other focus on first and getting it together. Last chance for the remaining guy. Sad that it came to this
  24. I'm not seeing a compelling argument for him at 1B yet. If he performs at AA soon, maybe we can reconsider. For now, he's simply performing better than Aaron Sabato.
