  1. Give him 15 days off. Check him out, if he can play ok. If not shut him down completely. Others will have to pick up the slack.
  2. This is not completely accurate. In the case of Archer and Bundy the coachs put limits on there pitch counts. This was done early in the season because they were trying to keep them healthy. Archer could have won 3 more games if he could have pitched at least one more inning . He was doing well and his pitch count was in the 60''s. Bundy's game yesterday was almost lost by pulling him at 71 pitches. He had walked one runner and they pulled him with a one hit shut out. The next pitcher gave up a run. Grey was yanked against his wishes after pitching a gem into the 7th when he walked two hitters. His pitch count was good. Sands was not that great the first go around this year. Besides we have Winder, Ober, Maeda all coming back in September.
  3. Just a quick note. It's not the pitchers fault for Bundy or archer. Archer pitched 5 games of 4 plus innings. Only winning the 5 innings game. That was because he had a 60 pitch limit. He went 80 plus pitches in the win they did same thing with Bundy for a few games. But early in the season we had a 6 man rotation. Now we can't find 6 healthy starters. We have at least 3 pitchers coming back in September. That doesn't help us now at all.
  4. He's a number one now but likely a two or three. Hopefully we use the money we have to get a number one. The only way he is our best pitcher is if he does improve all his pitches.
  5. The one people are forgetting about is Maeda. They think he will be back in September. He is a veteran at this pointt. And did a great job out of the bullpen for the dodgers.
  6. After seeing how Mahle can pitch I think with what we have we will win the division. After that we will get a home game probably against either toronto or Tampa. I think Seattle with there new pitcher will finish ahead of all of us record wise. That means we play Houston most likely. That is where our season ends unless the hitters all break out of there slumps at the same time.
  7. I think they are doing the best they can. Looking back at games he didn't play in most games he probably would not made a difference. Unless he would have went nuts and hit like a crazy man. The problem with hitting on the twins is most of the time we have only 3 or 4 people hitting. The rest can't t get on base..Also Buxton will get more money based on the number of games played. So he can't sit for long periods of time. So the twins dh him one game play him in field one game, then a day off and so forth. We really need him if we make the playoffs.
  8. No the twins by all accounts needs at least 6 or 7 in the majors and triple A. But I agree we need at least one or two more guys that can go 6 plus innings. I'm hoping the injured pitchers get better soon.
  9. I think he stays. He gave the team advice at the deadline telling the team not to loose Miranda. That coupled with a less than allstar year should make him wait one more year. As for us using his money for a better pitching staff. We should have plenty of money. Bundy, archer , Duffy, pagan, dobnak , sano and others will free up enough for one great pitcher. I like our starters, Ryan gray, Mahle , maeda gives us a great start for next year. Add a true ace and we are ready.
  10. Would have been nice to get another good hitter. But we can only give up so much of prospects.
  11. The problem is I like the other guys we have. Thor is a middle of the rotation guy. Besides come the last month of the season and playoffs we will likely have madea and acala back. So I dont see a bullpen opportunity for him. Also we pay 10 million bucks that takes away money used for relief help. How much will the twins spend before the deadline? But it maybe a fallback position.
  12. No way is Miranda worse than sano.. mirandi's fielding avg is 989 better than most the team. That's in 55 games. Sano has made 1 extra error in only 16 games. A full season would have sano at 30 errors for a first baseman!!!!!!!!!! Mirada is batting 251 with 8 homers . He would finish with with 24 in a full season. Sano has 1 he would finish with 10. He's batting .093. we can opt out after the season for 2.75 million. Otherwise we pay him 14+ million.
  13. It's how much do we think we need. And are we going to make a big splash If we really want to compete we need a starter, reliever , and one more hitter. That will take a lot. But we have a lot. We have had 14+ starting pitchers between majors and St.Paul this year. All of those pitchers are going to be in the majors next year if we room. Since we only need six starters we can move some guys. We can trade martin, Richardson, balazovic ober waller steer larnach Duffy sano maybe ursela and maybe Kepler. That's enough to get Castillo , Bednar, maybe Bell or the cubs catcher.lets say it takes almost all of those guys. We would then have Bell at 1b, polanko at 2b,Correa at s.s,Miranda or arraez at 3rd. Kirloff and Buxton and garlicky in outfield. Catcher would be sanchez unless trade is made for a catcher. Let me know what you think we would need to get this done? Or will we have to back off in one or two of these positions to lesser player .
  14. The twins could take Snell with the right deal. Some have said trade Duffy or sano. Duffy would have to improve a little bit over the next 2 to 3 times on the mound. Sano has no chance of being traded to S.d. sano will not have more than 4 games to look good. He is paid 9+ million this year. And 14 million next year. S.D will not take that on. They are worried about cap space. We will have to trade a prospect or two. Not top of the line but down the list somewhere.
  15. Take Green period. Have studied him for along time. Has skill set to make it to majors in 2 to 3 years. Which means we will get him at base salary for a few years . Also could be used next to Buxton. Big possible saving for the team if Kepler was traded by then. Kepler will probably be getting 10+ million by then.
  16. This would solve defensive and offensive problems at one position. We would have to trade sanchez. We should go for broke. We would not be in any worse shape then we were before last year's trades. Players we could trade: Richardson, Martin, duffey, larnach, winder,Kepler ?, Sano ?, Steer, and a couple others. We won't trade all these guys. But this is our best chance to go for it. Get Castillo or montas and one bullpen arm. We have a small chance to pass Houston for second over all seed. That would be big
  17. Bednar. Trade the likes of Martin, Richardson, and 1 or 2 more prospects.
  18. If we continue to mill over what happened with David Ortiz we will be killing ourselves. Sano will never hit like Ortiz. And we can't use his opt out till after the season. So he gets healthy as long as that takes. Then he plays in St. Paul till he starts hitting. It's better to have him hot in the stretch run.
  19. This is last time I will talk about sano. Here is the problem. We don't have enough time before trade deadline to get his stats better. The twins will give him work till after the all-star break. At some point he better be hitting. If he is they will bring him up as mostly a d.h. next year he should get released. If he finishes out the year really strong, the maybe a trade. Either way he's gone , period!!!!!!!
  20. I put in smeltzer. Auto correct changes everything.
  21. I guess some of the it will be because of the next couple of weeks.Ryan could pitch shutouts and go 7 innings in each game. That would pad his stats. Also we got get another player seltzer. He is 4-1 with a low era. He will get 3 or 4 starts before the all star game.
  22. I don't think he would be traded by the Phillies. But, he might be good in clubhouse. And being a strong veteran would also be a good choice because of the lose of our pitching coach. However, I was looking for a more high end caliber pitcher like montas or Castillo.
  23. Looked back the last 20 games. 13 errors. That's high but it's not one guy so I don't see a way of correcting it. Some help will come when polanko comes back. Also if Buxton could see the field more. Maybe other outfielders would cut down on mistakes.
  24. Presently half of cj crons hr's are away from corrs field. And the air in Colorado doesn't affect batting average and on base percentage. Sano avg. before his annual injury is .093.
  25. On June 18th 1974 Nolan Ryan pitched 13 innings, struck out 19, and threw 278 pitches so I think we might be getting soft on pitchers. That said, I think the te will be alright. Even if you carry 6 starters, that leaves you 7 guys who can still come in to the game. Remember most of these guys were starters at one time. So the question isn't whether we can cover the innings. But whether we have the quality in the bullpen.
