It's Time to End the Byron Buxton Experiment at Designated Hitter

Put Buxton in the outfield and yes he will get hurt, Oh well, at least his fielding skills were used. He is not a gifted hitter, never has been. He is a gifted athlete, who will never reach his full potential, because he's a china doll, as well. I do wish he could play 150 games in just one year, learn to punt, steal 30+ passes, hit 30 homers and hit .285. Guess it's ok to dream.

... and can't steal a base either. Thought the team was over the idea that everyone swings for the bleachers or nothing after the Sano experience. Small ball is more fun to watch in my opinion.

What's wrong with Jose Miranda? How long is his leash?
Carnegie replied to ZachB's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
He is like Sano was in left field, Nope this will not work. Below average glove and average arm. Nope that will not work at 3rd.. He was acceptable because of his bat, now that's seems unacceptable. I think it's the gold necklace. Never a good sign with a player who has proved very little. -
Byron Buxton Now, Alex Kirilloff Later

Now what to do with Gallo? When will he deliver his first hit in May? He is who we thought he was? -

Like others here, Buxton is just not of high value to me. He isn't playing in the outfield, with his great abilities. He doesn't run the bases, with his great speed. He thinks he is a home run first hitter now, with a sub .250 BA and high strikeout rate. Just seems he's way over valued to me. Convince me otherwise.

Is Byron Buxton Too Much Miguel Sano?
Carnegie replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Buxton has some of the best foot speed in the league. He is maybe the best center fielder. He can steal bases with that great speed. The Twins utilize none of it, instead he's tooled into a hard swinging, frequent strike out guy. Guess it's all he can really do and why? BECAUSE HE WILL BE INJURED OTHERWISE. He is what he is I guess. -
Ranking the Twins Weakest Positions

Is Buxton not being used this spring or is his knee or other injuries keeping him out of spring training? Seems CF could be an issue, even with Taylor was a good pick-up.- 22 replies

Twins Acquire Gold-Glove Outfielder from Royals
Carnegie replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm moving on from Celestino. He has showed what he has last season. He does not overwhelm with his over all play. Also. Here is a guy given a great opportunity to play as a result of injured outfielders. Still he is BENCH for let say a poor attitude and lackadaisical play. By the usual expressions on his face you would think he is a deserving Hall A Fame player. Nope.- 87 replies

Has the ownership and management come out with a statement to the FANS on what their intent is with this team? Rebuilding? Hoping to be .500? One year away? Develop a good young pitching staff? Hit 300 homers/year? Win the World Series in 23? NO REAL PLAN? Have I missed a possibility? Lastly, after suffering through watching Sano wave his bat at out of zone pitches the last few years, it is daunting to think about watching Gallo at the plate in a Twins uniform.

Twins Trade Gio Urshela to the Los Angeles Angels
Carnegie replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Hard to see Urshela leave, since he actually was dependable to PLAY! He also got his share of key hits, especially late in the season. it was a coin flip to keep or not and worthy of 9 mil+.- 108 replies

Have the Twins Seen the End of Miguel Sano?
Carnegie replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I assume Sano will have his last opportunity during spring training 2023. He may get hurt this winter not playing baseball. He's a train wreck.- 37 replies

Has Miguel Sanó Increased His Trade Value?
Carnegie replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Totally agree. In my opinion it is too late to change Sano and his swing. He just doesn't appear to be very coachable. Has he ever had a good spring at the plate? I do not recall one. He often comes to camp overweight, injured or sick. Fielding is terrible, just look at his numbers. He has one thing in mind, "me hit those dingers!" Let him go and maybe, but not likely, get something for him. He is no Ortiz.
