  1. I don't think that means what you think that means.
  2. John, you know that Dick Bremer should cite you when he uses your material.
  3. That game last night was just "one of those games." Twins hit a bunch of balls really hard in the first 2-3 innings, and they were all at people. Dozier's double down the line in the first - how is that caught (by anyone other than Alex Gordon)? Tigers, on the other hand, hit at least a few seeing eye base hits. Would be good to check the hit speeds of Sano's GIDB and Victor Martinez's single. If you reverse the outcomes of those two plays, the Twins would likely have been ahead in the game.
  4. Plus I had called for Buxton to get 3-4 hits in the game, and it was a lot harder for him to do that from the bench.
  5. Just checking, are we rooting for Texas or Houston?
  6. I would be even more ok of he weren't pitching. Rangers won, Astros currently losing.
  7. The advent of pitchFX has had a big impact - in a positive way - on umpires. That said, a lot of baseball players spend a lot of time getting angry about balls and strike calls. Automation would take a lot of that element out of the game, which would be a good thing.
  8. If Brian says "this is true" in the forest, does anyone hear (or believe) him?
  9. Excellent game thread intro, that will definitely get'er done, Brian. By the way, no need to fact check it, it is all accurate information. I think Sano needs to go yard tonight. By the way, can I be the first one to coin the catchphrase for the 2016 Twins: May and J.O....and pray for Sano?
  10. Clowns to the left and jokers to the right.
  11. Maybe Lady luck will be on the Twins side this evening. And Mauer should have just pulled up and run into Conger. It's like getting the defender in the air in basketball -- just run into him, and it's an automatic foul.
  12. I hope Pelfrey can keep the Astros somewhat in check tonight. Either that, or Sano, Dozier, and Hicks all homer and the Twins score double digits. Certainly facing some tough pitchers this weekend. They are gonna have to earn a fifth series win in a row....
  13. Great piece. Maybe this is overblown, but it seems to me that Sano is the type of unique talent who does better against the top level of competition....and that maybe his minor league track record, while good, doesn't do justice to what he is doing and will be able to do against major league pitchers.
  14. It's like the holy grail. "Terry, I've found it! I just saw a young player here in Germany with a crap-taking pivot that we have been looking for all these years."
  15. Looking at Berrios game a bit more closely. Six no-hit, no-walk, 8K innings....then two homers, a wild pitch, hit batter, two singles, and a throwing error in the next seven batters. That is an impressive implosion!
  16. I haven't read through this whole thread, I'm sorry to say, but let me chime in on the question at hand...letting Hicks have sustained at bats, including at lead-off, and get some confidence from the left side of the plate, is huge. I think he is going to turn into a long term contributor from one of the corner outfield spots. I would love for Buxton to be up right now, but getting him back started at AAA--and it is working--has worked out beautifully for Hicks and Buxton. Hopefully Buxton will be up in 1-2 weeks.
  17. Interesting note about Meyer pitching 3 innings. Still hoping he gets a shot in the rotation.
