  1. Minor a quibble with the recap. I don’t know if the catcher would have been going for lunch after filling his car with gas. Maybe a blue plate special dinner?
  2. That was tough. That was as close to a two-game error by Tony Diaz imaginable. How do you turn an amazing rally with a huge chance for a walk-off victory into a fizzle?
  3. How exactly are you going about learning to code in R?
  4. If Berrios is the team ace, the Twins need him to come up big in this game, in a big way. I mentioned this in another thread—the Twins were 100-1 to win the series in the off-season, which dropped to about 75-1 before the season started.
  5. Thank you Brian, that was an excellent summary of the season race between the Indians and the Twins. The one stat that jumped out at me was the team going 9-15 (now 10-15) with Buxton out.
  6. I was out of the country for four days, and the four run lead is gone. On the bright side, I’m back! So they can get back to winning. Going against Clevinger and Bieber is tough. Looks much better against Plutko and Civale. It really hurts to have Cruz and Buxton our fir this series. Let’s hope for at least a split over today and tomorrow, maybe even two. The was a tough week with seven games against the Braves and Indians. 1-6 would be bad. 2-5 would be unsurprising, 3-4 would be fine.
  7. Don’t we need the flip-side now? They have a tough schedule down the stretch.
  8. AlwaysInModeration likes Only Here In Negative’s post and screen name. Welcome to the site!
  9. I’m kind of surprised by the muted levels of mutiny, pitchforks, panic!!1!, etc during this game thread. I suppose if they had lost the lead, it might have been a lot worse. Oh, and The Princess Bride and Bugs Bunny.
  10. Well, if you lose any series ending games, the season is over, as far as I can tell.
  11. Astros with a 4-1 lead over Cleveland. What could go wrong?
  12. I wonder what the actual asking price for Wheeler or F Vasquez was. In general I am happy with the deadline, picking up two clear upgrades for the bullpen while not giving up any of the top 6-8 guys I was loathe to lose (Lewis, Kiriloff, Brusdar, Balazovic, Arraez, Duran, Larnach, and Cavaco.) Just wondering if something like Rooker and Gordon or Javier and Enlow would have landed either of the two guys I mention above.
  13. Interesting you write this. This offseason I really wanted to put $100 down on the Twins to win the World Series. The first line I saw was 100-1. After they signed Cruz and Parker (kidding) it dropped to 70-1. I never got around to it (and frankly, don’t really know how), but it would have been a fun thing to follow.
  14. It’s an easy win. Berrios pitched great, Garver, Rosario and Kepler bombas, Rogers shut down the small insurrection, Poppen made it easy for him to be sent down for Dyson. It’s all good.
  15. And Bob Uecker was the color commentator. Juuuust a bit outside.
  16. Ok, there are eight hours left. I’m setting the over/under for new Twins by the end of the day at 1.5. What’ve you got?
  17. Is it bad that I’d never heard of Franmil Reyes before yesterday? Puig I’d heard of, but man, sure seems like the Indians traded out of the frying pan and into the fire there. I think I’ve said this before, but as long as the Twins don’t trade Lewis, Kiriloff, Graterol, Balazovic, Cavaco, Duran, and Arraez, I think they can get some really useful arms today. Some combination of Larnach, Javier, Rooker, Gordon, Thorpe, Smeltzer, Romero, Gonsalves and Enlow can net a nice return.
  18. Is this a Brett Favre situation? Now that Bauer is with the Jets, I mean Reds, the Twins could trade for him. You have to admit, It would be fun to see Bauer pitch against the Indians three times in the last two months. At the very least, I have to think the odds of Bauer being a Twin by this time tomorrow have increased a little bit.
  19. So the last pitch Bauer threw as an Indian was a 350 foot strike to CF.
  20. I don't know, if the Mets get a top 20 prospect like Kiriloff plus a couple more decent prospects (like Javier/Jeffers/Enlow/Thorpe), I have to think they a)consider it strongly, and b)don't get much better than that.
