    Gagne Fan, BABIP is a great stat to provide, because when a ball gets hit into play, over the course of a season and career, about 30% of those balls turn into outs, no matter if you are Pedro Martinez or Mike Pelfrey. So for those starts, Gonsalves should have given up 5 hits in six innings last night, and five hits in the three (lousy) innings he pitched the other day against Louisville. And if he were pitching in front of the Twins defense, as many have speculated he would have been the last couple of times through the Twins rotation (ahem, Tim Melville), there is a good chance some of the extra bass hits he gave up would have found leather. More importantly, Gonsalves has struck out 22 batters and walked 6 in the 22 innings he has pitched in AAA. It's quite possible that he was let down pitching in AAA against Louisville last week, when he very plausibly could have been making his major league debut (in a wild card race, to boot.) No one has argued that Gonsalves is the next coming of Clayton Keisha's, but here's hoping he gets a start for the Twins in the next couple of weeks, and does well as his track record portends.     Are we to the point where Joe Mauer (.256/.344/.293 vs. LHP) needs to be in the lineup against lefties just for his defense? Yes, and his OBP.

    No matter which way you look at it, the relief pitching was a Bummer.

    Ah, too bad they couldn't win that one. Berrios going today, get the series win. If the Twins can win 60% of their games down the stretch (winning 3 of 5 from the White Sox on the road, for example), they will finish at 86 or 87 wins, which should be enough or close to enough for to nab the wild card.

    Angels down 5-1 to Texas after a Beltre Earl Weaver 3-run homer.

    Buxton had a little bit of a Chase Utley chop swing with a charge of power on that homer. He's en fuego.

    I've been waiting for the triples to come, but I'll take an inside the parker too. Fastest inside the park homerun in the statcast era, and Buxton's fastest triple ever. Over 21mph. I was wondering if there had ever been a cycle with an inside the park homerun...and the broadcasters said it happened 8 times.

    Boshers has now given up 5 homers to right handers in the equivalent of 17.2 innings this year. Of course, the 15 foot hit by Santana didn't help. What are the chances of Santana beating out an infield single anyway?

    This could be the first game for the Twins that this guy Enns.

    That was definitely a home run that he robbed there. Way to find the wall first and time his leap. Especially nice because Encarnacion stood admiring if for about 3 seconds before leaving the batters box.

    On the strikeout pitch to Mauer, the catcher set up inside, and then moved outside at the last minute. Wonder if Kepler was signaling for the inside pitch from second when he saw the set up,

    If Busenitz gets through this inning, I think the team can inch back into this in the bottom of 6.

    It would burn an option year and start his clock. I don't think they'd add anyone to the 40 or bring anyone like Romero or Gonsalves up before September for that reason. (Garver might fit this description as well.)

    And you forgot the most important part...the team (including the bullpen) got a chip on their shoulder after the management "sold."
