  1. Nothing like getting to the Tigers’ bullpen in the third inning in a four game series. Also, the goal for tonight’s game...score as many runs as Gibson gives up the previous inning.
  2. Hey, half as many runs, less than half as many pitches!!
  3. I foresee Kyle settling down in the second.
  4. Eddie takes a close pitch, not a strike...and the ump calls it a strike anyway?!? That’s not going to help the plate discipline,
  5. My seven year old son just commented / imitated Arraez swiveling his head around, checking out the infield to see their positioning.
  6. I’ll take Monday, September 2 vs Detroit. And Saturday, Sept 7 vs Cleveland.
  7. I love this song. The only thing is, I didn’t know it was a Kenny Loggins song. I think I sang it in a middle school chorus or my fifth grade teacher sang it to us. I loved the song, to the point where I can still remember all of the lyrics. I just listened to the Kenny Loggins version on the iTunes Store and totally disliked it. I’m going back to the much simpler version, that I have in my head. Ok, digression (to my youth) over, let’s get back to focusing on the Twins’ lefty-heavy lineup versus Edwin “He’s Still Playing?!” Jackson.
  8. Scanning the box scores from the last three games (in which the Twins played Chicago and Detroit played Cleveland), the Tigers had one guy in the three games with an OPS above 750 (who promptly fell down to 711 by the end of the series), while the Twins had one guy in the three series below 750 OPS (Marwin; 743, who then sat out games two and three). And that included the game when Sano, Kepler and Garver sat on the bench. Tigers have four guys with OPS sub 700 and another three sub 600. Twins head to Detroit for four games this weekend. Kind of liking the matchup.
  9. I just read the game thread after watching a decent bit of the game game. Neither the announcers or anyone in the gamethread noted that the almost all of the of the Twins hits went the opposite way. They went in against 99mph Cease with a plan and executed it to perfection. Cron doesn’t really do opposite field...so he hit the ball up the middle. Tons opposite field hits, including a Cave HR.
  10. Looking at the division race, Cleveland is 78-55, 29 games left. Minnesota 81-51, 30 games left. Cleveland could finish 29-0 with 107 wins, so the Twins would need 27 wins to finish with 108, so the magic number is 27. If Cleveland finishes 20-9, (a 690 pace) they finish 98-64. Twins would need to go 18-12 (a 600 pace) to beat them.
  11. Twins season by tens: 6-4 7-3 6-4 6-4 9-1 6-4 7-3 5-5 5-5 4-6 7-3 4-6 7-3 2-0 Or, if counting by NFL units, they are 9-2-2. Great record, the only problem is there is another really good team in the same division.
  12. Turns out, Brad Hand isn’t going to blow all of the games.
  13. Big time play by Polanco. Schoop should have gone to first.
  14. Dear Eddie, please take pitches until they throw you a strike
  15. Who knew that Taylor Rogers is the SHORT brother of the Twins?
  16. It was a good catch. Not incredible. On a related note, Buxton catches the lead off double by Leury (Leury?!?) Garcia in the first inning.
  17. I’m not sure that goes over the fence.
  18. The Tigers lineup tonight (facing the Indians) have zero players with an OPS over 750. The Twins’ lineup tonight has nine players with OPS over 750.
  19. Taylor Rogers is the punter. Cruz is probably on the defensive line along with Sano and Pineda. Berrios is strong and agile. He’s my starting RB. I think Polanco is either a DB or Safety. I like Buxton and Kepler both split out wide as wide receivers.
  20. That’s not what he asked.
  21. I declare that, right there, as officially Fun With Numbers.
