  1. How about the Twins platoon ABW with Kolton Kendrick?
  2. What happened to the first baseman? He's hitting 50 points below his career norm and getting on base 70 lower than normal.
  3. Just saw a Terry Ryan quote: "Someone is going to fall." Tate or Bregman? Could Brendan Rodgers somehow last until #6?
  4. Who I think the Twins will take: Tucker. Who I want the Twins to take: Aiken. Pick I would be disappointed with: Allard. Quite simply, Aiken seems to have the biggest upside of any player in the draft, and last year and six months ago it would have been impossible or considered impossible for the Twins to get him. It's of course a risk of being a whiff, but what the hell, swing for the fences.
  5. Agreed, great stuff...although I am but skeptical that the Miracle have played 53 extra inning games this year...
  6. It's a pretty good month for your minor league hitters when a guy hits 7 jacks in the month and only scores an honorable mention. The nine triples should also be as large font as possible. Wow.
  7. That's kind if my inclination as well...he has the longest track record and seemingly the most upside. The problem is Jeremy keeps hinting that his elbow is likely destroyed.
  8. Meant that those off years are written off, not the players.
  9. A college bat that has only come up big for 60 games. Doesn't seem like a Twins pick, or enough of a track record for me. Sure, he outplayed other hitters in his conference, but again, short sample size. This gets back to my general comment about the draft. How can there be so much volatility? Prospects and even big leaguers can have entire years that suck and are basically written off because the true talent level comes to the fore eventually. Why in the month lead-up to the draft is there "helium"? Can't a bigger picture be divined for these guys?
  10. 1) Duffey is arguably a top-3 pitching prospect for the Twins? I'd find that a tough argument to make. But I'm open to listening. 2)Buxton another triple. This kid is crazy. Is he simply always taking third on doubles? 3)Sano with a triple too. Guessing his triples aren't like Buxton's. But still, he's quite athletic. 4)Vargas is responding quite well to the demotion.
  11. I was in CR for Gonsalves rain-shortened start last week, and sat behind Felix Jorge and a couple of other pitchers with radar guns. Gonsalves was hitting 91/92 on all of his fastballs, and the scoreboard was definitely 2-3 mph slow.
  12. Interesting read, especially about the off-season regimen and the added movement. Hope Pelfrey keeps it up. Or down, I guess.
  13. Having two CF is not a problem, in my opinion. Lots of options associated with that eventuality.
  14. Buxton was given two days off, and that seemed to have worked. Doug M seems like a creative streak when it comes to managing.
  15. I second the leaderboard. Nice to see some context for the daily reports. I hesitate to make a further suggestion, but highlighting any players who amongst the league leaders in their respective leagues would be...even better.
  16. We don't like us no west coast hippies nor their weird ideas about "daylight savings time...and "Keurigs"
  17. Good choice of Gonsalves for pitcher of the day. As noted on another thread, his no-hitter was broken up by a bunt single, and he promptly plunked the next hitter. Gonsalves perhaps has a chip on his shoulder for lasting until the fourth round.
  18. Interesting topic. It strikes how long the slog is through the minor leagues.
  19. I've said this before, but there is a weird disconnect when it comes to the draft. We are what, six weeks from the draft? And yet, there is evidently tons of time for things to change before the draft. Why then, can players have entire off years, and that can (accurately, in my view) be largely ignored in favor of the player's track record? For my money, if Aiken is there at 6, the Twins should absolutely take him. His upside and established level seems much higher than anyone else in the draft.
  20. Hitter of the day...Red Wings Bullpen. That threw me for a loop.
  21. Thanks for the comment Paul. Never underestimate a good subplot, especially in a sport as superstitious as baseball. I actually feel like Joe Mauer complained about the trees too.
