    Kepler was clearly safe, but you gotta love they take an extra long time to review it and still get the wrong result. Oh, and Kepler hesitated when running home... seems like the Twins are pretty bad baserunners. Remember when hiring Molitor was supposed to help with stealing and baserunning? That never happened.

    Jaye was a minor league free agent who was added this offseason, so he's just AAA depth. He's not close to being a prospect from what I can tell (4.0 K/9 in AAA is not a good sign). Sawyer was also added this offseason and was recently given a promotion to AAA, taking Bobby Wilson's place at catcher. I don't think we need to care.

    Let's remember that there was a point where Herrmann and [Eric] Fryer were raking in a small sample size too. I doubt he'll sustain that through a full season.

    Yes, you are correct. I assume the Twins wanted to give Cave a cup of coffee as I thought Mauer might only miss 10 games... if that's still the case. It's also possible they keep Petit when Sano is activated within the next week and option Cave down to AAA.

    Wow, that April OPS is unsightly, especially after hitting .718 OPS in 2018 April.

    Too bad most teams aren't willing to ship off guys for so little like the Rays did. Odorizzi's been even better than I thought he would, with his only real downside being that he's going to get 6 innings max. I'll take that from a 3rd or 4th starter any day.

    Say what you will about Mauer, but is he not allowed to get injured due to his massive salary? There are plenty of things to be mad about today, but I don't think this should be one of them. He's getting old and these kind of injuries are going to happen. I wouldn't want to mess with a neck ailment. Now, if we're talking about extending his contract... yeah, this would be a problem.

    I like that Kepler eats lefties for lunch now... but that's about it for positive things. I'm not even that mad at Gibson for having a bad outing, it's going to happen every once in a while. The Brewers lineup seems to know what they're doing... and we're throwing out Adrianza, Wilson, awful Buxton, and the crew at MLB pitching staffs. Yuck.

    Petit just so happens to have one option remaining, so I imagine he gets optioned instead of DFA'd. For the short amount he's played, he's done a fine job. I'm just about done with Duffey, and I'd be OK if he was DFA'd. There are enough relievers at AAA that I'd rather see (Moya, Busenitz, Bard and Anderson are non-40 options).

    Hmmm... I was not aware Castro had two prior knee surgeries before. With the third already completed, I wonder if this could shorten his catching career? Not that I think his knee will be like Sam Bradford's, but I do think it could be a concern going forward. Oh, and nice article!

    Hopefully Rooker will be able to take this hot streak and extend it into a successful season at AA. He had a rough start in the upper minors, but I'm confident he'll be figure things out.

    The reason the Cards cut bait with Lynn had nothing to do with thinking he would be terrible... they offered him the one year qualifying offer, so clearly they would have been OK with him there for about $17M. Lynn started asking for $20M+ on a deal and the Cards weren't interested in giving him that. (Heck, nobody was. Rightfully so.) They instead signed Miles Mikolas.

    I'm trying to find a recent Twins comp. for a starting pitcher who was been worse than Lynn thus far. [possibly] Worse: Trevor May 2014 (7.88 ERA, 9 starts), Vance Worley 2013 (7.21 ERA, only 5.1 K/9 in 10 starts), 2012 Nick Blackburn (7.39 ERA, 3.8 K/9, 19 starts). Better: Ricky Nolasco (all years), Yohan Pino, Pedro Hernandez, P. J. Walters, Andrew Albers, Sam Deduno, Scott Diamond (at his worst), Liam Hendriks, Cole De Vries Yuck. The best comparison was rookie Trevor May, when he was getting strikeouts (8.7 K/9) but walking too much (4.3 BB/9) and giving too many hits. For a veteran comparison, Lynn is pitching similarly to Vance Worley, who was basically batting practice with few strikeouts. Bleh. Maybe the Twins should stop going after NL starters... Nolasco, Worley, and Lynn have all been flops.

    That was quite the pitching performance - the Cardinals had just 2 hits in the whole game. Good show, pitchers!

    Suddenly the Twins have learned how to hit again. Berrios' great start may not be in vain now.

    Well, we got good Berrios back, too bad the offense is a rotting corpse at this point.

    Seems like most Asian phenoms usually hit or pitch well when they reach the states... the Twins somehow ended up with the mega-busts Nishioka and Park. Ugh.

    Gotta love how our best two pitchers in April, Berrios and Pressly, are blowing the game for us. That's just how baseball works, I guess.

    I think Berrios was going to collapse sooner than later. He's been tossing some cookies out there today...

    There we go, now we're back in this one. It's good to get clutch Dozier back with us, we've had enough of the solo HRs.

    The Twins help other players reach their true potential. Just look at the Yankees, they've won 16 of their last 17 games thanks to using us as a springboard! You're welcome!

    Baseball can be weird sometimes. Guys who were light-hitting can turn things around in a hurry and proven major leaguers can suddenly hit .180.

    I don't know if anyone else reported this here, but Buxton's back. I'm surprised he's not going to rehab the toe injury, but I suppose he can just tough it out. LaMarre is heading back to AAA as the corresponding move.
