  1. I saw he gave up 0 runs, so I was about to compliment him, but he had to give up 5 walks... I guess he's wildly effective! Kiriloff is pretty darn good. All he does is hit!
  2. Yes, yes, more of this. Some guys are simply going to get away from the team and do better elsewhere (Yangervis Solarte comes to mind, Dereck Rodriguez) but I think the Twins should be looking to find out what we have in some players so we can avoid DFA'ing the next Randy Rosario and Chargois. And hey, just because we trade away a few vets doesn't mean we have to stop competing; it didn't stop last year's club. I'd like to see some more young 'uns in the bullpen - say bye to Belisle and Rodney and get guys like Jake Reed, John Curtiss, and Gabriel Moya up here. That's just a start of a list they should try to exhaust.
  3. I just read that Fernando Romero is being optioned back to AAA. I'm thinking Ervin Santana might be getting activated... but I also think this means Belisle isn't getting axed yet (I imagine Motter is DFA'd to get him onto the 40 man roster).
  4. Agreed, I think many aren't seeing the Moustakas deal as an outlier like I think they should be. I think Dozier gets $10M a year at the minimum... I think he'll get $13-15M a year but not for too long (3 years). With the demand for 2B seemingly on the up compared to the last previous two years, I can see Dozier landing a nice deal.
  5. Looks like another good day for the prospects. Rooker and Jeffers keep hitting, and Gonsalves is trending the right direction. I'd like to see Gonsalves get some starts near the end of the year to prepare him for the 2019 season where I can see him trying to crack the rotation.
  6. I dunno, these players with low BABIP are hitting into the shift and making weak contact. Kepler and Morrison both fall into that category in my opinion - I can see him maintaining their low BABIP.
  7. I imagine many are going to complain that Littell should be behind Thorpe. Littell's two stints in the majors has probably a bad taste in their mouths... I can't blame them, though, he looked rough. I expect Rooker to finish the season at AAA. I don't think he's quite ready for a MLB call-up in September - I'd rather leave him off the 40 man roster until 2019 and he's in his first full year of minor league baseball (though it should be his only full year of minors if all goes right).
  8. 0 for 2. He's a good hitter with nobody on the bases, but he hits like 2017 Logan Morrison when there's guys in scoring position. Recalling conversations last year about trading him at the deadline... from what we knew, teams weren't offering very much. The demand for 2B does seem to be higher this year, but I still don't expect to get much for him.
  9. I wonder if Wade is going to arrive this year. He's doing well at AAA, but Cave seems to have solidified himself a spot on the MLB roster for now and I think Buxton will be back within the next month. Maybe we'll see him in September? Having both he and Cave should make for some nice depth for our outfield.
  10. Well, it's probably good nobody took Diaz in the Rule 5 draft, huh? Don't think he would have looked very good in the majors.
  11. Probably not much, everybody knows he's going to hit 20+ solo HRs a year.
  12. Yeah, I'm not trading Romero - I thought we were going to try and win in 2019 & 2020? He has the potential to be really, really good and the Twins need all the high-end pitching they can get. I'd be fine with moving prospects like Kiriloff and Graterol but I'm not trading a guy who should be a key to our short term success.
  13. Can we get Romero back up to the majors? The team could really use him. I guess they're probably eyeing Ervin Santana to get Slegers' rotation spot... and they'll probably give him it even if he can't top 90 MPH.
  14. At that point we'd be a team 6 games below .500 trying to win a division against a team that is 10 games above .500 and the next 15 of 19 games are against teams that are below .500. Cleveland is easily going to win this division unless they suddenly implode. Counting on that to get into the playoffs and try and face the Yankees and Red Sox with this roster is foolish IMO. It's time to trade our soon-to-be free agents.
  15. Weird how Littell pitches so well at AAA but he looks like he was promoted from A ball when he came up both times for the Twins. I'm not sure if I want to see him again this season, but maybe he'll look better in September. If not, I'm looking forward to him as a potential starter in 2019, but he's unlikely to be given a spot in the rotation right off the bat.
  16. Because the Rays swept us the last time we faced them and we lost the last series to the Royals too. It's great that we can get our hopes up beating up on the league's worst team, but we'd do well to remember that Baltimore is on a pace to lose about 120 games this season.
  17. Just a nitpick, but I don't get what all this hullabaloo over Motter is. He had 16 PAs and he's likely getting DFA'd when he comes off the DL. in AAA right now. He filled in for about 10 days as the utility infielder and had a very minimal impact on the team - Seattle gave him 17 PAs this season, was that because of bad management? The Twins claimed him and tried to see if he was any good and he wasn't. If he sticks around like Belisle then I'll understand your complaint.
  18. The high draft picks aren't here because Terry Ryan squandered selections on Kohl Stewart and Tyler Jay. Buxton can't figure out how to hit and Nick Gordon is on the cusp of arriving... we might end up with one good player out of that group and that's mostly on TR (though I'm not sure who to blame Buxton's failed development on).
  19. The Red Sox traded for Steve Pearce a week ago and they already have Mitch Moreland. I don’t think they’ll need Mauer.
  20. I clearly remember Granite's throws didn't reach the cut-off man several times. Maybe it's not as bad as I think it is... but I am getting flashbacks of when Granite threw the ball to 1B on a play where a runner was tagging up and going home. He has no ability to throw baserunners out.
  21. I don't know about Granite... I just don't think he has an MLB toolset. Zero power, bad arm, and now he can't hit at AAA anymore. The ups and downs for him at AAA have been crazy. Cave looks like he could at least make a solid bench bat. I'd keep giving him PAs in the majors. I'm hoping Curtiss can crack the bullpen this season, but these young relievers have been having a very difficult time staying on the roster. Right now they've been ferrying guys from MLB to AAA back and forth, and while that's a good strategy, I'd like to see a young guy take Belisle's spot and earn a roster spot like Hildy did last year.
  22. Belisle hasn't pitch since the month of June (5 games ago). If they're going to put him on the roster, they should at least use him!
  23. We'd be claiming him to use him as a reliever, of course! We'll groom him to be our closer for when Rodney goes.
  24. I was a proponent of trading for Corey Dickerson when the Rays DFA'd him, and he's hitting .301/.336/.448 (.783 OPS) for the Pirates this season. He would have made a nice DH although his power (6 HRs) has been lacking this season. It doesn't look like Morrison/Vargas/Carter are going to be solutions at DH.
  25. With Buxton, Petit, Romero, Duffey, and Busenitz playing for AAA today, they look more like the Twins than the Red Wings. A few of those guys should be on the major league roster sooner than later...
