  1. It's odd to see Mauer have a bad day at the plate with everyone feasting on this poor pitching. Mauer seems to be taking the Grossman approach at the plate.
  2. I'm starting to think this Sherriff guy isn't very good.
  3. Same thoughts here. Isn't it better for the game to have the pitcher hit, so teams can strategically avoid pitching to batters so they can just get the pitchers out easily? Oh wait, no it isn't. It's a bit fun when you have guys like Shoehi Ohtani who can pitch and bat, but in all other cases it's just dumb.
  4. We have a potential #1/2 starter here and they want to move him to the bullpen? I mean, if he's hitting his inning limits, then maybe, but we need him starting games as long as possible. He'll provide the most value that way.
  5. I'm liking this Romero kid a lot. The difference between him and Hughes is quite vast, and I'm happy they called him up so soon.
  6. Oh, I forgot that Thorpe's first name was Lewis, which happens to be the other starter's last name.
  7. Am I missing something here? It's just empty for me.
  8. Dietrich Enns has cleared waivers and will return to pitch in AAA. I think it would be wise to try and see if he could make it as a reliever, but as of now he's still slated to be a starter.
  9. Yeah, I think Littell can be a #4 starter. Looking at his minor league track record, I'm thinking he's going to need to spend most the season at AAA. For 2019, we'll have Berrios, Pineda, Gibson (final year of arb.), Odorizzi (final arb.), Romero, Mejia, and possibly Littell and Gonsalves all poised to be able to start. Based on the arbitrary starter 'number' comparisons, I'd say we have: #1: None #2: Berrios, Romero #3: Gonsalves #4: Odorizzi, Gibson, Littell, Pineda, May (could be higher, but he's been gone for so long) #5: Mejia, Slegers (maybe AAAA) I really like the depth, but there's still no clear #1 starter. Oh, and they should be able to DFA Hughes at some point.
  10. I'm not sure what Gordon and Wade have left to prove in AA at this point. It's time for at least a promotion to AAA and the Twins could use Wade in the majors right now.
  11. Interesting... Nick Anderson was not on my radar, but looking at the stats now, he's blown through the minors with some phenomenal numbers, especially in the upper minors. Sure, he's already 27, but he started with the Twins at age 24, so it's impressive he's made it all the way to AAA at this point. I think he could help the Twins at some point this year. I'd rather see him than other guys like Duffey.
  12. Yup, we're officially bad, if it wasn't official before. The bad teams are counting on us to consistently win games. I think some of us have forgotten how truly terrible Grossman is in the outfield. He was historically bad in 2016 and he's back to that level after not playing much outfield in 2017. It's not like his bat helps the lineup as in a good year he'll hit .260 with little power and good OBP... we have enough of that with Mauer. I'd almost rather see LaMarre play out there just for the defense. Or maybe they could get Wade up until Buxton is ready. On a different note, it seems Odorizzi gets so many strikeouts it clogs up his pitch count and he gets gassed real quick. I still think he can be a #3 starter, but we haven't quite gotten that from him. Reed regressing a little bit is what it is. Relievers will have cold and hot streaks sometimes. If they keep relying on him all the time, the odds are he will disappoint you sometimes.
  13. Yup, the White Sox were licking their chops coming into this series. Oh wait, I thought it was the 8th inning. Whoops. Game over!
  14. Is it a good idea to have Rogers throw a 3rd inning? Just wondering...
  15. Sometimes Molitor is a victim of really bad pitching. Other times Molitor just makes terrible decisions that could be seen coming a mile away. Between the two, the Twins have sure lost a lot of games...
  16. You mean there's nobody there or everybody who is there are all horrible people?
  17. Nice, Daniel Palka's in their lineup. I want to see him have a good game at the plate... and have the rest of the White Sox go hitless.
  18. I don't think Hughes pitching well for another team is a realistic concern. That's no reason to keep him on the team while providing negative value.
  19. He did a fine job today, and the pitching staff had a shutout. Good show!
  20. I don't give TR praise very often, but acquiring 6 years of Escobar for 2 months of Liriano was one heck of a trade. I've always liked having him around and I hope they find a way to keep him for a couple more years. They're going to need a reliable utility infielder if they keep playing Sano at 3B.
  21. Yes, but it's likely Gibson was out of gas and he probably doesn't get out of that inning without bullpen help. It was (and is) a lose-lose proposition for Molitor.
  22. I want to criticize optioning Curtiss back to AAA already... but I don't know, all of the young arms have looked awful, so I'm not sure what can be done. With the defense being so awful, I'm not sure I can be confident with Romero's first start. Especially with Grossman somewhere in the outfield.
