    I keep seeing Logan Gilbert 's name thrown around as a trade target on this site, but what evidence is there that Seattle would even consider trading him? Given his talent and team control, he's arguably their most valuable pitcher. They are in win now mode. If they need offense, they're probably more likely to deal one of their more unproven commodities, like Hancock.

    Kinda makes you wonder why the Pohlad's ok'd the Correa contract. The problems at the RSNs were not a secret last off-season. They had to know there was at least the possibility that payroll would have to come down.

    The silly season has begun. He's been good, but not great. That's a lot of guaranteed money.

    How is Dakota Hudson only 29? Just seems like he's been around a while. Yeah, this list doesn't have much to get excited about. Maybe if they can get Cimber or Trevino as cheap competition for bullpen spots.

    No one is "untouchable" if the right deal comes along and it can help the club. If the Twins want to add a starter via trade, they are going to have to offer up premium talent, including, possibly, a name off this list.

    Having been to the Coliseum, I can honestly say a road trip to Vegas to see the Twins will be a lot more fun. Actually, the Coliseum was a great place before Al Davis ruined it with that renovation in center field. It's hard to shed tears for billionaire owners, but the city of Oakland clearly had no intention of working with the A's to get something done. Tough day for the fans in Oakland.

I know all of those guys have issues, but it seems like a high price to pay for Aaron Bummer. Soroka and Shuster are still young and could figure things out.

    Front office probably figures their best chance of retaining him is to try and pass him through the Rule 5 draft now instead of passing him through waivers later on, when they start adding newcomers to the 40 man.

    Interesting, but I don't think Seattle would do that deal. They are in "win now" mode. Polanco would help them, but I don't think the prospects would be that appealing to them (even Brooks Lee). A lesser package centered on Lee might get Keller from the Pirates. Maybe they could even get the Pirates to include Bednar.

    More often than not, the reason someone hits free agency is because their previous team, for whatever reason, wouldn't go the Xtra mile to resign them. Therefore, on average, free agent signings will result in overpays. That's just the nature of the beast. But yeah, even if you reduce expectations, the Twins' recent track record is poor.

    That's fair, but I don't see them bringing back Farmer. He's in line to get $6+ million in arbitration.

    Well written. No major disagreements, although I would put Solano a little higher....maybe 25%. He still checks a lot of boxes for the Twins. Miranda or Lee could certainly fill that roll, but they (along with Kirilloff) are still question marks. The nice thing about Solano is that he can probably be signed for cheap, and if someone like Miranda steps up, they can release him or trade him without eating much money.

    If one assumes the payroll will be about $150 million, then there is room to sign someone at an average annual value of $20-$25 million, but there would be nothing left for a center fielder or other depth pieces. If they pursue a starter on the free agent market, then I think it's more likely they sign a second tier type (Maeda???). As someone else mentioned above, I think it's more likely they are aggressive on the trade market.

    I don't think 3/$60 million is going to get it done. That's basically what Bassitt got last year, and Sonny Gray is coming off a better season. It's probably gonna be at least 3/$75 million. I don't think I would go there given his age, but I don't think that will fit into the Twins payroll anyway, so it's a moot point. This is Gray's last and best shot at a big deal. He will hit the market. Good for him, bad for the Twins.

    "Brooks Lee is likely off the table." I don't think anyone should be off the table. The Twins will most likely get priced out of the free-agent market, so that leaves a trade. To get something good you have to give up something good (see Lopez -Arraez). If the Twins had any success developing pitching they wouldn't be in this situation. But it is what it is.

    If Gordon batted right he would be a no brainier. That said, I 'd be inclined to keep him. He would essentially be taking Stevenson's spot, and has more versatility. Of course, a lot depends on how confident the Twins are that Buxton will be ready by spring training.

    As you stated, the Twins were very fortunate on the injury front with regards to their catchers this past season. I suspect one of the reasons they signed Vasquez was because they didn't want to end up in a position like they were in 2022, when Sandy Leon was having to get a fair number of at bats down the stretch. For that reason, I don't see Vasquez going anywhere.

    I saw that this morning. Not good. In the articles I saw it didn't say anything about motive. This has Dateline NBC written all over it.

    I'm curious to see how his career plays out. The opinions about him are so varied. Some think he's the second coming of Babe Ruth, while others think he'll be the 103rd overall pick in a Rob Deer league.

    I didn't think the Mahle trade was bad at the time. It would have been a good trade.....if he had actually pitched for the Twins. The big question is whether the front office should have been more cautious given his recent injury history. I'm not a medical expert so I can't opine on whether they missed or ignored any red flags.

    He has shown he can be an effective bullpen arm, but after two elbow surgeries can he maintain his velocity and control over 30 starts and 150+ innings? I'm rooting for him, but the Twins better have a plan B.

    I am one of those who believes there's at least some degree of luck that goes into a post-season run. You can do everything right, but it ultimately comes down to who's healthiest and who's on a hot streak. The Orioles, Dodgers, Rays, and Braves all had the best records, but they all had injuries to key pitchers down the stretch. The Twins will need to replace Sonny Gray, but if someone gets hurt, or the young guys don't step up, they could easily finish behind Cleveland and Detroit.
