  1. Not saying any other manger would have gotten more wins out of that team, but, he showed IMO in 2019 he didn't have what it took to be a successful manager, wins aren't everything when it comes to a manager. I thought he made a ton of mistakes, got out managed, was bailed out by the Bomba squad and played one a super easy schedule. and IMO he wasn't the type of manager that was going to lead the Twins to the World Series. (Maybe that changes this year or next and I am wrong, I really, really hope I am wrong but as of today I am not)
  2. Well besides a flukely 2020 season (which they didn't win a playoff game in ) I have been way more right than wrong.
  3. I would have fired him after 2019, to me it was obvious he wasn't ever going to be a great manager IMO. I also said in 2016 the Vikings should fire Zimmer (only took the Vikings 5 years to see what I seen) If the Twins don't make the playoffs and win at least one game I would fire this FO and Manager.
  4. I don't think the Twins have the assets to pull any of these off, unless of course you are talking Lewis,Lee, Miranda
  5. To me this is more than Pagen, it is the mid 20 and older pitchers on the 40 that are injured, aren't good or they don't trust. SWR, Winder, Sands, Henriquez, Headrick, Canterino, Balazovic, Alcala. With little to no other top prospects on the horizon. Prielipp (4 innings in A+), Raya (14 innings A+), Festa (5.58 ERA AA) So the Twins cut him, who do we get more of? the list above? Another 30 year has been or never was? The thing this FO needs to admit is that can't identify or groom top end talent, they are great at identifying role players and middle relief pitchers.
  6. The last two loses, SP - 10 innings, RP -8 innings (8 pitchers), on top of an unwatchable offensive it is going to be tough to win games with that formula.
  7. It does go beyond the draft for sure, but again what offensive players have the developed? I can't find an everyday player. And AK (2016), Gordon (2014), and Miranda (16) were round 1 and 2 picks, if it takes that long to develop a player, I think they might be doing something wrong.
  8. Currently the players on the active roster they drafted are Jeffers, Julien, and Larnach. So in 7 years that is terrible. Miranda, AK, Gordon were the previous regime picks and if they have actually done some for more then a minute I would give them some credit. They traded for Celestino when he was young, nothing yet. Wallner is AAA and I guess he hits with the wrong hand? Maybe/Hopefully Lewis does something in the majors in his 7th year.
  9. Not sure that is possible, does any team have that? You do need at least 3 and up to 5 would be awesome. The problem isn't who Rocco puts in (IMO) it is the idea of using a pitcher for just 1 innings, Which works great like in the begging of the season when the starts were all going 6 innings, but when you have a couple of starters falter you have to change that up and let some guy go longer. For example Monday's game down 5 - 2, Stewart only goes 1.1, then basically it was going to be a 1 inning guy each of the next innings, which might have been fine but it went 12. Down 5 - 2, they should have brought a pitcher in that they expected to go at least 2 innings, probably 3, even if they give up a run or two who cares, you can't blow up your pen for one games, because it ends up costing you in others as well.
  10. Expecting 5 clean innings from mediocre relief pitchers is crazy. After only getting 4 2/3 from Lopez in game 1, and then using your 5 best relief pitchers in a loss, you had to see this coming. Ober did a great job of giving 6 innings and giving the pen a rest, but instead of getting a real rest, they used 3 more relief pitchers. Last nights game was set up for Gray long day, and if not things weren't going to go well the good guys, because of the previous days bullpen usage. This team isn't really all that hard to figure out, most of what they do isn't all that hard to figure out.
  11. That is one of the side effects having a bunch of unproven players in their mid 20's (or older) clogging up the 40 man. It makes it tough to go out and get other talent because you are afraid of losing those players.
  12. You left out Alcala (27) and for the Now, Really only Ryan has proved himself, I believe Varland, Ober, Jeffers and Duran are real close, AK and healthy and if you want to include Jax. Ages of the players you listed Now; 25,25,25,24,28,27,24,24,26,22,23,27,26,28 Soon: 24,22, 23,23,26, 23, 26, 27 What I see is two possible better than average offense players, Lewis and Lee, (Maybe Julien as well), Maybe two starting pitchers Festa and SWR. and a bunch of fill ins and relief pitchers (both which are important)
  13. 💯agree he needs to be stay in the minors and develop and improve, keeping guys in the minors until late age 23 early 24 or later as worked amazing well so far all the other prospects, I mean they are filling in the holes and succeeding on the major league level right? I am mean look at all the names on the Twins roster that this FO has developed, too many to list or maybe not enough to list, not sure. I am not saying he should be called up, by why not call him up stick him at third for a couple of weeks and see how it goes, he may never see the minors again or he may need more time back in the minors to learn a few things. But the one thing he won't be is a savior and that shouldn't be expected, but now is the perfect time, Miranda is back in the minors Lewis isn't ready yet. There is plenty of trash on the 40 man so I am not worried about. Just an FYI there are more guys in the majors that are younger than him, then there are guys on the Twins this FO has drafted and it isn't even close.
  14. I also would prefer the Twins had more Hall of Fame players on their current roster.
  15. I agree with everything you said except he is very young, he is 28, which isn't old but not close to very young. I don't even consider Varland very young and he is 25. Otherwise spot on.
  16. "Slumps are a part of baseball. They come and go, and everyone goes through them." What Carlos is going though isn't a normal slump, that is 10, 20 , maybe 30 at bats, he is at 147. So were people booing him 100 at bats ago? Not that I have heard, have the fans been booing Gordon or Gallo? As a fan what other way is there to tell a player we aren't happy with the way you are playing right now? I don't get to tell him I just dropped a half of my week's salary to bring my family to watch the game and you played like garbage and have been playing like garbage. This is what they signed up for when they decided to make a career out of a game that people have to pay to watch. With that said they didn't sign up for or deserve to be ridiculed out side of the playing field.
  17. Is good, good enough? His oWAR after 34 games is .8, in 92 last last year it was 3.2, in 61 games in 21 it was 3.5. It 39 games in 20 it was 1.0, and in 87 games in 19 it was 2.1. In my quick view, it looks like this year is his worst hitting year since 18, now I understand worst is relative. If my math is correct and he plays the same amount of games the rest of the year that will put him at 148/149 and if he stays the same his oWAR will end up a hair under 3.5. I guess I was hoping that this DH role would allow him to play more games but still hit like he was the last two years.
  18. My point was referencing how you create room on the 40 man, and IMO this is a legit way (both seem fairly low on the Twins depth chart), saying two of the worst teams in the MLB don't have room for guys that are good enough to help a team compete for a division title but aren't good enough (with lots of control left) for a last place team seems like a interesting take. Does this happen often? I don't know but I thought this FO was supposed be a thinking outside the box FO.
  19. and Lee has 1216 at bats including college so your point is what, only Twins prospects need extended time in the minors? All those players were in the majors prior to the age Lee is now. If the Twins don't think he is ready so be it but the longer he stays in the minors the less likely he is going to be the star we all hope he will be. And FYI, what I wrote was true, that is how many AA at bats they had, (You said this - Brooks Lee has 229 career minor league at bats, none of which are higher than the AA), so maybe leave out the part about being ridiculous.
  20. Isn't that the job of the FO office to bring in guys that can play in the majors? Of course failure is high, On the current roster how many players did this FO draft that are on the team? I think it is Jeffers now that Larnach is down. 7 years? 1 guy? and it is the players fault? And I might the others that are close are 24 plus and some say they need more minor league time.
  21. So you are saying if you called up either of those teams and offered Sands or Wallner for a semi decent 18 year old prospect (ranked between 30 and 40 in their prospects )they are going to say no? And yet they are good enough to be on the Twins 40 man? That makes zero sense, unless of course their 40 man is so full of better players than them.
  22. Michael Harris was called up after 196 at bats in AA, Vaughn Grissom 98, Julio Rodriguez, 206, Anthony Volpe very little, Nolan Gorman same, Dylan Carlson, and on and on, Real Prospects don't need to spend forever in the minors.
  23. I am not afraid of losing almost 26 year old Sands, and Wallner is almost 25 1/2. Oh no, somebody might pick up Solanco, that could even save the Twins some money. Maybe give a call to Oakland or KC or another bad team and offer Sands or Wallner or both of a really young semi-decent prospect that doesn't need 40 man protection for a few years. Maybe throw in Balazovic to sweeten the deal. Nothing is too hard to ever come.
  24. Why? other teams bring up young guys all the time, the Twins in the past have brought up young guys, but all of a sudden 22 is too young and is rushing a guy? If the guy is a major league baseball player and future all star type player it isn't going to hurt his development to bring him up.
  25. So the FO brings in the players and pays people to develop the players but it is on the players? I can't agree with that.
