  1. And Buxton will be in CF when the weather warms up. Every connected reporter bought that too.
  2. What generic team did Billy Martin ever take to the top? And this article if read. Tells you in the paragraph from Varland and Wallner, who the clubhouse leader was. Some of the others are leaders when the camera is on.
  3. So all these "projections" for Pablo Lopez 2024. I'm curious as to what those projections were for him coming into 2023. Just to compare. I could be wrong, but I doubt they were nearly what they are now.
  4. Tampa Bay is 130 games over .500 in that same time frame with a similar budget.
  5. That's one way of looking at it. 2019 Twins won 101 games. +40 over .500. So all the other years represent a team barely over. 500
  6. In the next couple weeks there will be a post on Twins Daily regarding the importance of Brock Stewart to the bullpen. His career arc is similar to Justin Topa the morning. I believe he's the main reason the trade happened. No Topa no trade. And I'm not insinuating that he's worth more than Polanco. His value is for 2024. I don't expect much from DeSclafani. But with the prospects and cash considerations I think it's a decent trade. I will say that losing Polanco leaves a hole. But the FO has basically said this was going to be the direction they'd be taking. They were going to lower payroll and trade for need. The only 2 players left that they have that would lower payroll were Polanco and Kepler. 1 of them are now gone. Polanco was probably going to be opening day DH. If you want to say 2B OK. Just flop him and Julien I'm of the opinion that the Twins think they can fill that void from within. We'll see
  7. Well. Seattle and Minnesota made the trade folks were anticipating. And Polanco was mentioned as part of a deal. It just wasn't the Seattle pitcher that Twins fan's hoped for in return. Well at least they have the popcorn going. Now just pull up the chair and hope this was the preview for the upcoming feature. Personally I like the trade. It's not a needle mover. But it's a step in the direction the FO appears to be moving.
  8. Exactly. John Hiller was the 1st guy I thought of. Not only survived a heart issue. But guys like him and Marshall pitched multiple innings nearly every appearance. And on top of that they could start if asked. And when they started, they could and did pitch CG. Several of those names pitched more innings out of the pen than today's starters do. The HOF should be difficult to enter. There's a lot of Joe Nathan types. Really good players. Not quite HOFers
  9. Hardest position. Yes. Overrated. No. He caught roughly 1/2 of the Twins games. Yeah yeah yeah I know catchers aren't supposed to go 130 games anymore. Although I don't know the reason. But let's see what kind of numbers he puts up if he goes over 100. If he can duplicate 2023 then you can debate it.
  10. Back on track? I didn't know he was on track for a HOF career. He was replaced almost seamlessly in Houston by Pena. No knock on Pena but I don't know how hard the Astros went after Correa to retain him. A better comp for Correa would be Seager. They both come up around the same time. Seagers WAR is 32 Correas 36. Is Seager on track for the Hall? He has a WS ring too.Correa can't have anymore 2023 type seasons. Regardless of injuries.
  11. I really liked Tovar, but how could a writer give him a vote over Yaz for the 67 MVP? Even as a homer.
  12. Apparently not. But I concur.
  13. Playoff opponent Oakland A's were no slouch. The article mentioned only 6 teams had more wins 2000-2009. One of those 6 teams were the A's. So as disappointing as the series loss may have been. It wasn't a huge upset.
  14. Where is the logic of taking someone who's average or below average at one position, 2nd base in Juliens case and think he'll be better in the outfield. Explain please. Or is this just wishful thinking?
  15. Can't wait for Rpr and his advocacy for Max's HOF enshrinement.
  16. It wasn't sarcasm. Your post stated 2 gold gloves 2 all-star appearances and 2 years where he received MVP votes. =2 good years
  17. So in other words. A 2 hit wonder
  18. I don't want to call it a gross overpay. I guess the market is up. Someone is probably going to give MAT 8-10 million after he made 4.5 last season. Players are getting paid high dollars this coming year. What's Bellinger going to demand. 25 to 30. It's crazy.
  19. Cry me a river. It's a business. I get that. Then don't release a piece about how you're doing this particular move for the fans. I don't even care that they're doing it. But don't tell me it's going to make for a better experience. That's a b.s. story. It's about money. What part of what I'm posting don't you get? And that's how all these things started. In 2024 it's April only. Next year it'll be April and May. In a few years it'll be June because that's when school lets out and that's when they start drawing more.
  20. The article states that the moves being made are for the fans. The headline states a heightened experience for fans.. Stop talking about lost revenue. That's a different story altogether. And if you think the Twins are being honest. I don't. It's more like p ing down my leg and telling me it's raining. That's not refreshing. That's a snow job
