  1. Pretty typical Twins move involving pitchers. Acquire a pitcher with injuries. He had bone chips from his elbow removed last year. Why not try?
  2. Very good comments. Well thought out and thought provoking. The highest payroll in the division has always been interesting. My contention is it's not the total payroll dollars, but how those dollars are allocated. Spending half of your payroll on 3 players doesn't leave much room for improvements. Also the notion that the Twins have the best bullpen in baseball is sheer nonsense. Last year they led all of baseball in inherited runners scoring. Meaning they couldn't put out the fire. Isn't that what a good bullpen is for. Keep in mind this team has missed the playoffs 3 of past 4 years during a so called open window.
  3. Great article. Well thought out and written. Just another filler article to take up space. It just indicates how nothing the Twins off season is. Just write about things we know aren't going to happen.
  4. Falvey? He probably could have been a good politician as he is good at talking out of both sides of his mouth. I truly hope that if and when the Twins are sold that Falvey, Baldelli, and the GMs are shown the door.
  5. Let's not get too excited yet. Nothing new in this story that wasn't told months ago. We can't seriously expect instant change. To think otherwise just leads to a huge letdown.
  6. Nice article. Interesting thoughts. Other than the potential for new owners, which is huge, it still is just the Twins. Same old boring baseball. They talk about a winning windows. What winning windows? They've missed the playoffs 3 of last 4 years. Twice they choked it away. If we get new owners they need to dump Falvey and Baldelli .
  7. Show me concrete results and improvement. Quit with the constant hype and hope. Twins have been doing that way too much.
  8. Oh please! Did anyone actually watch this bullpen? Last year Duran lost 9 games. When you are labeled as a top reliever, losing 9 games in the bullpen is disastrous. Also the Bullpen had the worst record in all of baseball by far in letting inherited runners score. Not much of an endorsement. The bullpen, like most other areas of the team is very fragile
  9. Just more Twins double speak and a writers attempt to spin positive an organization that basically relies on hope and hype. If we do get new ownership this year one of the first things they should do is dump Falvey and Baldelli and get Twins baseball back in vogue. How does missing the playoffs 3 of the past 4 seasons, twice in horrible fashion indicate Falvey and company is doing a great job. Most of the prospects brought up have done very little and have a lot to prove. Falvey has produced one season with 90 wins or more and only one decent postseason and that didn't even go very far.
  10. Yes Falvey is way over rated even though ownership has tied his hands somewhat, or a lot. We have not seen that much in player development. Yes you can name all the players like Lee, Miranda, Gillian, etc. They are on the team thus far but have a lot to prove they belong. In my view Falvey has spent too much payroll on just a very few players thus hamstring his moves. They keep saying they are in a win now mode. But they have missed the playoffs 3 of the past 4 season with Falvey player and manager. If a new owner comes in I'm guessing the management gets the rest of 2025 as a mulligan of sorts. But if real progress isn't made I would suspect and hope they bring in a whole new front office and a.new field manager.
  11. Let's dump Lopez and Vasquez to the Braves for their top three prospects as proposed elsewhere. I'm not sure how Jeffers is rated so highly when he only plays half the games. No I don't dislike him. I'm just saying I think he is probably over hyped. I kind of like your ideas.
  12. Sure why not get him? Just add him to the long list of similar type players we already have.
  13. I think part of the problem hasn't been the payroll per se. It appears a big part of it is how the dollars have been spent. They continue to have one of the higher if not highest payroll in the American League Central. Yet they have missed the playoffs 3 of the past four years. Perhaps they overpaid in some areas. Maybe Cleveland, Detroit, and Kansas City just do a better job of utilizing their assets.
  14. People say trade Paddock. Who wants him?? He hasn't done much of anything for two years.
  15. Baldelli is a poor situational manager. Probably one of the worst we've had.
  16. This is sure proof of a boring off season thus far by the Twins. Trying to make something out of a nothing story shows you have great fortitude and determination in writing the story. Well written and well researched and thought out. But who cares? This is a another nothing move by a nothing organization. That's it.
  17. Yawn, yawn, and double yawn. It's a nothing move by a nothing Twins organization. I love all the awesome well thought out comments. Merry Christmas TD readers.
  18. Yes it would be tough to roster two spots for first base. We've been doing that for Buxton for nearly 10 years. But it sure isn't ideal. My guess is they just concentrate on dumping salary this off season and any position openings be handled internally. Looks like a long boring season in 2025.
  19. Seems like the Twins have mishandled Alcala just like they have done with others. A good manager puts players in a position that best suits the players and then therefore the teams needs. The Twins don't have such a manager. Putting Alcala in game situations that he keeps showing he can't handle.. He us a decent one inning pitcher no more than every other day. I like your article! There's plenty more unproven players that could be on that list.
  20. Let's not forget here that as of this moment the Ishbias are not even close to buying the team. I don't think they are close to making an offer. So please let's not talk as if they are the new owners of the Minnesota Twins. Even if an offer gets made and accepted it still must be approved by MLB and there appeals to be some owners not too excited about it. Remember ownership once decline Mark Cubans bid to own a MLB team.
  21. If he's healthy as in passes his physical then yes make that trade!! Of course somehow the Twins has Correa pass his physical to sign him yet he's hurt a lot. Mentioning that we would still have Lee, Julien, Miranda, and Lewis is presuming they are major league worthy. None of those players have proven they can play and be productive over the long haul.
  22. First of all it seems to me the real issue is Buxton. Not his backup. This now 10 year saga of waiting fir Buxton to become a full time contributor is ridiculous. It's a shame we have to waste an extra roster spot to be Byron's backup. We should have moved on from him years ago. As far as a comparison to him and Hunter: there us no comparison. Hunter was by far the better player. It's not even close. It's long past time to dump Buxton.
  23. Bad idea for oth the Twins and the players mentioned. Way too much risk for potential. These players have proved very little so far. Just a lot of unproven hype thus far. And for the players if they are as great and sure no misses by your estimates, they could be leaving a lot of money on the table. Not to mention a potential team sale may have on this. The team has control over these players for now. Why reverse that at this early stage?
