  1. I agree that at this point the Twins are 4th best. But not in the AL. Fourth best in the central is more like it!! IMO everything would have to fall into place for this team to be relevant. Too many holes, too many question marks. This "core" as you say has missed the playoffs 3 of the past 4 years with two of those seasons by collapses. Hardly a ringing endorsement.
  2. Just because the Twins are dumb enough to acquire broken down pitchers with broken down arms doesn't mean other teams are that dumb. Paddock is of little or no value to the Twins or any other major league team.
  3. Such a good article topic. Reading all the responses reminds me of how many holes and question marks this team has. It's daunting. Many of the Twins prospects have not shown much at the major league level thus far. Maybe that's due in part to them being relegated to part time status with their platoon system. Very strange way to develop your prospects: play full time In minors only to play part time on the major league squad.
  4. Being in contention means consistently being a playoff calibre team. The Twins have missed the playoffs 3 of the past 4 seasons with two of those being bad collapses. That isn't a contending team. Correa is good but can't really be expected to be a leader on this team. His payroll and that of Buxton and Lopez make up too high of a percentage of payroll to be able to add to it. Our "prospects" haven't proven anything yet. I just think all viable options should be open. Go ahead and trade him.
  5. In a better time the Twins may look to improve the club through free agency and targeted trades. This off season it appears to be another salary dump of sorts to maintain and not increase payroll. With Lopez getting a 13 million salary boost in 2025 and Correa getting a boost the savings have to come from somewhere. Plus many increases due to salary arbitration. With three players, Correa, Buxton, and Lopez combining to make over $70 million of a $130 million budget. Something may have to give. I don't want them to trade Lopez but I wouldn't be shocked if they dud.
  6. What an awful and depressing article. Come on can't you guys do any better than that?
  7. We know it's off season when your annual Byron Buxton hyped article is forced down our throats. J feel sorry for him because he undoubtedly has some talent and has had to work hard to try to play. But overall he has been a BUST.
  8. No big deal on any of them. I hope they all do well wherever they end up. I've never been impressed with the current regimes handling and development of their prospects. No surprise here.
  9. Both catchers will be back. Just a couple of years ago it seemed we had a very good catching situation. Since then both Vazquez and Jeffers have become below average at that position. Keep them through 2025 and go another direction from both of them.
  10. Last off season was a big failure for Falvey. Let's consider that in the 8 years he's been in control the Twins have had 1 90+ win season. I believe 1 playoff series win. They have missed the playoffs in 3 of the past 4 seasons. Two of them in catastrophic (choking) style. Polanco would be better than what we have now. Not wanting to sign an injured player or injury history player? Falvey has done it many times. I don't really think the Twins will resign Polanco. They are looking to manage payroll. With Correa, Buxton, and Lopez going to take up around 75 mill of a 130 million dollar payroll it's going to be difficult. Obviously salary will need to be dumped again.
  11. We could and should expect several changes for next season. Got to find out if some of these young players can actually play at the major league level. Miranda has a lot to prove but seems to be the most logical internal choice for first base. Lee, Julien, and others need to play full time. Too much platooning. Twins seem to love developing full time prospects and then turning them into part time players when they reach the majors. It's time to either play those players regularly or trade them. It's also amusing how people use the new analytics to explain away bad performance. Like "bad luck" for Miranda? Let's get serious!
  12. Man̈y of the current prospects and young players have a lot to prove. So far they are suspects rather than prospects. With how the Twins choked the last several weeks anything should be open if a good deal can.be made. I would hesitate moving Ober, Duran, or Jax unless you get a deal you can't pass up. If you are looking to get younger and better I would look at dumping Lewis, Buxton, and Correa. Yes no trade clauses can be negotiated to facilitate a trade. Go Twins!
  13. Interesting? Not really. The 12-27 record is much more interesting. We'll researched though!
  14. Time to move on from Kiriloff. He probably needs a change of scenery. Besides we are already paying someone $15 million per year to only play part time and have been doing it for about 10 years now?
  15. Just another list of recognizable can't miss Twins prospects or shall we say suspects. That's all they are until they can prove themselves at the big league level. It's the same old thing every off season: drooling over prospects. We have a few of them on the current 26 man roster that have not proved much of anything. Best of luck to these guys. I'm sure we will here about their can't miss exploits for the next few years.
  16. I doubt Vasquez will be moved due to his contract. 10 mill is way too high for a part time player. Wait. I forgot we've been paying Buxton millions each year and he's part time. At this point the Twins finished 4th in the division. They look like a 4th place team next year as well.
  17. Yes indeed. Twins under Falvey have not done well overall with the bullpen. But when you continually shop for relief pitchers at the dollar store you should expect poor overall bullpen performance.
  18. Great article Nick. I've been wondering about this for quite sometime. Correa was on the 2023 team but it doesnt mean he helped them
  19. I agree with many of the posters regarding the team. The Twins are very boring and don't play anything resembling sound baseball. They don't have an identity. Their identity is that they don't have an identity. They are undisciplined, unsound fundamentally, and play with very little passion. I've followed the Twins for 60 years and the past several years have been so boring. Even some of the worst Twins teams in past years showed some passion and at times made it look like they knew how to play baseball. This group of players the past few years shows no life very much like their manager.
  20. Considering the Twins aren't that good all options should be open. The Twins have missed the playoffs 3 of the past 4 years and twice by total collapses. Duran is slipping but is still good overall. But 9 losses for a closer isn't good. I think they should dump Correa and Buxton. And do so this offseason.
  21. OMG another Buxton story. He is not nor has ever been a superstar. Superstar status is for players who play full time as in 150 games or more. Admit the fact he's been a 10 year bust.
  22. The Twins have missed the playoffs 3 of the past 4 years. I am expecting more of the same next year. No more of Mr. Gullible here falling for all the false hype of playoff grandeur. That being said IMO it's time to see if the great prospects on the 26 and 40 can actually play or if they will remain as prospects. In that vein they must play full-time. How can you expect to develop or evaluate these players when they wind up playing only part time due to the teams platooning and strict adherence to analytics? The time is now. 2025 looks bleak so at least see if the players you have invested in for the future success of the team can actually play.
  23. They should have never spent all that money and long term commitment to a part time player in Buxton and an injury prone star shortstop that two other teams wouldn't sign due to physical concerns. Before I dump Lopez I would try hard.to get Correa and Buxton to agree to trade them. We need Lopez. I honestly believe we can do without Correa and Buxton and reallocate some of their salaries to fill other positions.
