  1. Nice article. I agree that this team as of now looks eerily similar to last years team that collapsed. There is no fire or drive in this team that has plagued them a lot recently. The team plays listless and often times boring baseball. They are a definite reflection of Baldelli. No urgency, no drive, no desire to win and always making excuses. Rocco needs to go.
  2. Not surprised. After that 3rd inning tye offense went totally cold. How often has that happened the last couple of years? Correa is hitting .080. He is like 2 for 29 after a bad spring. Oh that's right spring training stats don't matter. Buxton looked good getting 2 hits. 2-5 not a good start. They keep telling us they aren't worried as it is early. Very true. But I think the losses still count.
  3. Very good article. But it is their team to do with what they wish. I hope they sell and let new ownership take over the team 100%. No Joe Pohlad. He just brings toxicity to the organization. I contend that payroll is ok. They are ranked 19th this year just barely in the bottom half but we'll above everyone else in the division. Mu contention is the FO has done a lousy job of allocating those dollars. The winning window is a farce. They have missed the playoffs 3 of the past 4 years with about a middle of the pack payroll.
  4. Great win yesterday. Well played game all around. Just like the first four games were just that onlyb4 games. The same can be said of the last two games. It's only two games. Actually a game and a half. They didn't play well the first 5 innings against a pitcher making his major league debut. But they played great yesterday. Hopefully this is the start of a good trend. Tw
  5. Nice win Twins. Maybe for at least one day we won't here about their bad luck in a game. They had plenty of good luck on their side last night. They did a good job of taking advantage. Very possibly getting rained out Wednesday. Go Twins.
  6. The Twins will win tonight then at least for one night we will see how they tell us how great they are. Going 0-4 isn't the end of the world in baseball. But the way the Twins have been playing makes it appear that way. Just like when they were choking away their playoff chances late last year. They are playing the same uninspiring, boring baseball with no life to the team. It is important they win tonight. Or at least lose and play well which is something they haven't done yet.
  7. This has got to be the most repugnant article ever written for Twins Daily. Same old stuff. Fans get blasted for complaining about the team. Fans get blasted for voicing their opinions. Isn't that in part what this is for? If you are a public relations guru trying to bolster Baldelli and the Twins as a whole, you are not succeeding IMO.
  8. Just one of many reasons MLB has been going down hill the past several years. Their system is all messed up. It hurts me because I have always loved MLB. 60 years worth. Not to mention the Twins have very little class in their handling of some players. This isn't the first time the have done this to Dobnak and others. He was a surprise addition at the end of spring training. He was about the only bright spot for the Twins in St. Louis. He does very well and in addition saves the bullpen. His reward? Sent out.
  9. I'm not a fan of Baldelli and never have been. He made many blunders this weekend as noted by others. He should have been canned after last years debacle. His team was listless this past weekend very similar to the way they played the season out last year. Of all the clichés that baseball has I can't stand the it's a marathon not a sprint one. This is a losing teams lament when confronted by poor play. I do believe those 3 games still count in the loss column. As does the 3 for 20 in the runners in scoring position, as the team only led once all weekend, as they were out scored 19-6 for the series. I would imagine the Twins will sweep the lowly Whit Sox and then will tell us how great they are.
  10. Another in a long endless line of articles about Byron Buxton. It's been 10 years and we are still waiting to see the star Buxton perform regularly. It's a shame that this super- hyped player has had to endure all these injuries. We never got the chance to see him perform full time except in 2017. But he has a few years left in his contract and I'm sure we will have plenty of more Twins Daily stories about him. I actually hope he retires after his current contract expires. He owes it to his body and let's face it the Twins have been more than generous with him financially considering his part time playing and availability status.
  11. It would be interesting but not very realistic. Just like the Twins team as a whole everything would have to magically be near perfect for Ober to win the Cy Young award. He definitely can be the Twins ace. Best of luck to Bailey. Go Twins!
  12. It's only 1 game is the theme and it's right. But nothing changed from last year yet. Remember the early season games still count and go on the win/loss record. After about a month we will see better well- defined trends. It's just that this year's team needs to get off to a good start. Too much bad taste left over from last years collapse. BTW did anyone have issues with Twins TV? Thousands of us in the area couldn't get it for awhile. Glitches they said. Imagine that.
  13. Very good article. Although I try to be optimistic regarding the Twins it's not easy. Yes they could be good and they could also be bad. I'm sure hoping for the good. IMO they need a good start through April. Getting off to s bad, slow, or mediocre start could really kill any kind of enthusiasm. Plus the Twins play boring, undisciplined baseball too much of the time. Go Twins!!
  14. Very nice article. Well done. Whereas it's true spring training is spring training., this season more than most the Twins need a good start. With 13of their first 16 games on the road it could be tough. With the disastrous end to 2024 the Twins can I'll afford a poor April if they intend to compete and keep fans interested.
  15. Very nice article. It is definitely though provoking. I am not in favor of MLB regular season games being played overseas games. Nor am I a fan of any of our pro leagues playing regular season games in other countries. I understand the reason behind it in trying to generate more interest and money. But it also takes some money from the teams that lose home games to this. Yes I'm sure they are compensated for ticket sales. But the people around the stadiums that rely on income generated from those games are short changed. Let's not forget after all many of the stadiums in all major league sports were paid for in part by tax dollars. Seeing Major League baseball or National Football and National hockey league in other venues is not the way to go. Play in your park that was built for you .
  16. Wow! Craziness. 425 million in debt, the highest in baseball. I'm actually speechless. Who would want to buy this team?
  17. I agree with the premise of this article. I am surprised they haven't already signed him to a 100,000,000 7 year contract Ala Byron Buxton. After all isn't that the going Twins rate for playing 100 games or less for the Twins?
  18. Duran was pretty good last year. But he definitely wasn't great. But losing 9 games as a "closer" isn't great or shutdown. Maybe too much concern about his velocity idk. Major league hitters can hit a 100 mph fastball today especially if it doesn't have much movement or is center cut. We do need him to be better this year if we are to be playoff contenders.
  19. I've been following the Twins for 60 years. Yes that makes me old. But I'm very skeptical of this years team. The team plays very boring and undisciplined baseball. Ì don't blame the Pohlads as much as Falvey and the rest of the front office. They have done a very poor job of managing the payroll given them. They need to have a good start to the season. Go Twins.
  20. Great well written article. But just another overdone metric in the mostly ridiculous analytic era of baseball.
  21. Those lists are maybe entertaining but that's about all. I don't put much credence into these types of things. Who cares if Correa is 83rd or 3rd. You still have to play the games and put up numbers. I don't think overall that the Twins players and their top prospects are highly regarded at all.
  22. Great article. Very upbeat and positive. Twins will need a much better season from Duran than last season. I too believe Rocco needs to use him better. The only part of your article I don't agree with is trying to blame hus down season in part to bad luck. He lost 9 games in relief. His ERA was 3.64. Your " closer" has to do better. Using the new analytics to twist a poor season into bad luck is not helpful. He didn't pitch well last season. It happens. I hope he is back on top in 2025
  23. Another 2 months off for Lewis looks possible. What else Is new? Buxton 2.0. Then at the end of the season Lewis will again claim he's tired and worn out. Just like last year.
  24. Love your article! Seems like reasonable selections to the 26 man roster. It's hard to miss Lewis as he spends more time injured than playing. Twins need to begin considering moving on from Lewis before they get the urge to give him a $100,000,000 contract to play part time like Byron Buxton!
