  1. Miranda hit quite well before the injury bug got him. I wouldn't call him a light hitter looking at 2022 when he was healthy.
  2. If the Twins don't get another CF like MAT, he may see a lot of action there. From what I've seen of him out there this year, it seems he could at least hold his own. With more reps he could be pretty good, and the kid can run.
  3. I'd keep Lee at AAA another season. Leave Polo at 2nd another year. Martin should move to CF, since Buxton is never healthy. See how Lee fares. Don't burn an extra year of control if they don't need too.
  4. I would say no to offering a QO. The rotation for next year as is looks like Lopez, Paddack, Ryan, Ober and Varland. Not bad but room for improvement. They will try to work out a deal for Gray but not real hopeful on that as Gray will be one of the most sought after pitchers on the FA market. I would probably offer Maeda maybe 2 years at 35 mil with an option year, and throw in some sort of incentives that could earn him an additional 2-3 mil with a really good year. Let him bet on himself and see how it develops.
  5. Depending on what happens with FA signings and trades, it might be time to call on Martin to be the main CF replacement for Buxton.
  6. Compare the lineups and we probably rank last. Bullpen at least in the playoffs pitched well.
  7. Well lets hope that's it for injuries for AK. Starting down the Buxton path of pain is not where they need another one of their quality players.
  8. I look forward to watching him progress. Buxton, you better get and keep yourself healthy or this kid may take your job!
  9. They should try to replace him with one of the kids in the minors IMO. I think if healthy the job will go to Miranda.
  10. I live by Cambridge and can't get any stations w/o cable or satellite.
  11. I can't get any local stations over the air because I live about 45 miles out of the city so I really don't know about sub-channels. Either way, unless you live in the cities, I guess cable or satellite will still be necessary.
  12. I don't know which local broadcaster would be able to handle the schedule. All 4 of the local majors (4,5,9,11) are network channels and I'm pretty sure the networks (NBC,ABC.CBS,FOX) would not be trilled having their programs pre-empted.
  13. IMO it all depends on what happens this winter. If they re-sign Gray (doubtful) or pick up another 2-3 type starter, give Varland a choice. Stay stretched out @AAA or pitch out of the pen in the majors. To me, it would be a no brainer to go to the pen to stay in the Majors, but that's just me.
  14. I can envision a rotation of Lopez, Paddack, Ober, Ryan, and Varland next year. Would like to see them sign another 2-3 type starter and try to talk Varland into the pen for now. That would leave some questions to be answered in the minors, but they seem to have some promising arms coming. Now if Gray will sign here, he would slide into #2 spot with the others moving down. Then you tell Varland if you want to play in the majors you need to go to the pen.
  15. I think I'd wait at least 1 more year and see what happens. If I was Duran I wouldn't sign that contract anyway. It will take either more bonus money up front or higher salaries in the last few years.
  16. Question is can they get something as valuable as a good catcher in return? I doubt whatever they get would be as valuable to the Twins as a good catcher.
  17. IMO, defense is more important then hitting at the catcher position. I can't see another team offering much for Vazquez after last year, unless the Twins eat a bunch of salary. This doesn't make much sense to me. If you want to cut payroll dur to the TV contract situation, why would you pay out several mil for a guy to play elsewhere? I'd keep him and see if he bounces back offensively. If Camargo can continue to improve, and Vazquez has a good start maybe trade him mid season. Good defensive catchers just don't grow on trees. they have 2 good catchers now, and a pitching staff that improved by leaps and bounds throwing to them. Also, can they be sure that we saw the real Jeffers last year, or was it a "career year" .
  18. The Twins traded away a high quality hitter to get a high quality Pitcher. In his 1st year with the Twins, Lopez showed us why. If he can build more then last year with the help of Driveline he should be one of the very best 4 or 5 in the league.
  19. I would keep him. Got lucky this year with no catcher getting hurt. Big gamble on 2 years with no injury to a catcher.
  20. I wouldn't trade him. He's consistent and a good leader. IMO the Twins wouldn't have won the division without him. He played hurt most of the year and I never heard him complain or use it as an excuse. After the past several years going through SS after SS it sure is nice to have him there.
  21. Another player that if healthy, should play some winter ball at 1st base to get more comfortable. If not healthy, more time in the minors.
  22. Send Julian to play winter ball at 1st base. Let him get some real reps there. Re-sign Solano as a RH platoon if Miranda isn't ready yet. That gives the kids in the minors more time to get some reps at 1st. Sometime in late May or early June make a move from AAA if it isn't working.
