  1. I hope it works well for him. He looked pretty good against the Cards.
  2. This team just doesn't seem prepared. Too many mental mistakes, too little fundamentals. Physical errors I can handle as they will happen. But all these little mental errors are a killer. These guys are pro's and get paid well, so IMO they should be better prepared and have their heads into the game. Is this a coaching problem? Have they tuned out their managers voice? Has Rocco been to easy on them? I don't know.
  3. Lets remember, this was the lowly White Sox. I'll have to see how they do against some better teams.
  4. They have been way to aggressive on the 1st pitch. I haven't been keeping count, but it sure seems to me they swing at that 1st pitch too often, They're not working counts much at all. These pitchers are getting out of innings throwing only 10-15 pitches.
  5. I'm not worried about Correa. This slump will end as will Bucks.
  6. For many hitters the bat makes sense. More meat in the area of the bat where more balls are hit, should get more hard hit balls. I haven't held one yet, but I would imagine it may be a bit more balanced too. I would think for guys that crowd the plate it could make a difference.
  7. This is getting embarrassing and hard to watch. I understand getting Buck and Correa out of a blowout game, but in the later innings. Rocco waved the white flag too early IMHO.
  8. The 1st series was a total system failure. Next up is the White Sox. Time to get well. If the 1st series is an example of the future, Rocco's seat will start getting very warm I would think. Plenty of time to turn things around, and no time like the present to start looking like the team that's capable of winning the division.
  9. 2 games that the hitters looked anxious, got so aggressive I thought they were catching the next flight out.
  10. I wonder how often their predictions actually happen or how close they normally are?
  11. Ober for CY award? Well, anything is possible, but I would say that's a mile long shot. I certainly wouldn't put money on it. Now, I hope he makes me eat my words!
  12. I think one of his best games against Cleveland. I don't remember who was pitching, but he was one of the best in MLB at the time, and if I remember correctly Max took him deep 3 times. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  13. The Twins are just a better team when Buck plays, Their W-L record bears that out. With health being the big question, I don't really think he will go much past his current contract. If he can stay healthy that long then yes, sign him to a fair contract. After all, he has kind of been the face of the Twins for quite a while.
  14. I think it all comes down to who's signing the checks. 5 years seems reasonable enough, though I don't think he compares that well to the others in the article. Maybe more like 5 years @60 mil?
  15. They were sure aggressive at the plate to start the game. Gray still looks like a winner out there. Too bad the Twins couldn't keep him. Bader looked good as did France. That CFer for the Cards sure can play.
  16. I think it would take career years from a couple of guys like France, Julian, Miranda, and Jeffers. The pitching looks like it will be strong enough to compete, so that leaves the hitters to step it up a bit.
  17. The polls are a good idea. Now the season finally starts, and we can read actual news rather than so much fluff. Go Twins!
  18. Other than injuries, I question whether SWR can avoid the sophomore slump that is so common in MLB, and Paddack, can he be effective enough to hold his spot in the rotation. My other concern is with the field management. Going by stats has its perks, but these are people, not fantasy players on paper. Sometimes, you just got to go with your gut if someone is hot, or cold. That doesn't seem to be Rocco's strength. If I was running the team, if they don't end up with a winning record this year, Rocco would be gone. Another question is about new owners or not. I have a hard time believing this team will draw 2 million fans this year, mainly due to so many ownership flubs!
  19. Another one of those "can he stay healthy" question marks for the Twins. I believe he can be one of the better 4 or 5 slot pitchers. Pitching for a contract should certainly motivate him.
  20. IMO, if they want to play regular season games in other countries they should stay in the Western Hemisphere. That's where the game is popular, and in most cases involve less travel. Think they would have a hard time getting players to go to Hawaii for a series?
  21. It's a simple 2 strike swing which used to be taught to everyone. Then HR's became more sexy and most are swinging out of their shoes trying to hit a bomb.
  22. At this point I think Rocco plans on using France as a full time player, at least for now. Who knows what happens if he forgets how to hit.
  23. There would still be a HP ump to call things like HBP, foul tips, etc.. not to mention plays at the plate. I really don't think the union would have anything to complain about!
  24. Further evidence that a move to 1st would be wise. He will go to the minors for rehab, and I hope they get him some time there. Less stress on his body.
  25. I've learned over the last several years to never under estimate Cleveland. They are a royal pain in the butt for the Twins it seems.
