  1. Jim Eisenreich is my guess
  2. This site has been dominated for years by Rocco excuse makers. It never ends. I expect the articles defending him will continue until the end of time.
  3. The debate about whether to fire Rocco will continue to go on forever because his GM buddy is in love with him and would never fire him. There is no expectation of winning from the fans, the writers, etc. They lead the charge to make excuses for Rocco year after year. Rocco is in such a safe spot. His GM will keep him no matter what. The fans never blame him. Losing doesn't matter and expectations are always low.
  4. Broken swing? Yes. Broke the Twin's bank with his terrible contract? Yes. Broke the rules in the cheating scandal? Yes. Awesome
  5. Rocco is the worst manager in Twins history. He passed Ray Miller a long time ago.
  6. The billionaire class doesn't care what you think. Unfortunately, that is who controls every team in every sport. Discussing getting rid of the family that tried to eliminate the franchise 24 years ago and trading it for another billionaire owner is a depressing topic.
  7. They had lots of contributors to the bat heavy team of the mid-70's. One of them was Glenn Adams who batted .338 in the first year with the Twins in 1977. (Bostock batted .336 that year). He still shares the team record for RBI in a game. Considering all the big hitters in team history, that is quite a feat.
  8. What about Lew Ford in 2004? .299 average, 15 homers, 20 SB, 170 hits, 72 RBI.
  9. Everyone has forgotten he is a cheater. It was a mistake on so many levels to sign him.
  10. Remember David Letterman's top ten list each night? Well, I wish someone would create a top ten list of excuses everyone on this site seems to give Rocco each and every year. For example: 1. Injuries (as if no other team has that problem) 2. Drop in payroll 3. He's a manager but he doesn't swing the bat (blame the players) 4. He finally won a 2 game playoff series at home, so we can't get rid of him. 5. He's a loyalist to the front office. These are hard to find. 6. If you fire him, there's nobody out there you can hire to replace him. 7. The players like him. 8. The Twins play in a tough division (usually the opposite) 9. We're Minnesota, We have low expectations. 10. I've seen worse (examples please)
  11. Simply, Rocco is the worst manager in Twins history. Ray Miller used to be that guy. But when he sucked, they fired him right away. If Rocco stays, you'll continue to see articles like this one. I was hoping the attendance issue would lead to change (including the front office). It won't as they are content as a mediocre franchise.
  12. No mention of the worst manager they had in team history? Sure, the owner and management deserve a ton of blame but to not mention Rocco at all as a factor? Cleveland, KC, Detroit all exceeded expectations. We didn't. Rocco was too busy putting Margo in as pinch hitter.
  13. Anyone interested in Danny's story should read his book, E-6, The Diary of a Major League Shortstop.
  14. Only Ray Miller was as bad of a manager as Rocco. Rocco might make even more headscratching, inept decisions. Three things save Rocco each year: 1. The upper management not willing to make changes 2. Minnesota's overall OK-ness with mediocre baseball (low expectations) 3. Playing in the lowly Central Division Watching him in post game interviews gives me a rash.
  15. Arraez is the opposite of what the Twins have: a FUN player to watch, a CONTACT hitter who doesn't strikeout, and a player who can actually get HITS. Gee, it would be nice to find such a player... I was embarrassed as a Twins fan at all the people on this site that wanted to dump him. You got your wish. Now, watching Marlins games is way more fun.
  16. Can we please finally get rid of the front office and Rocco now? It's hard to do worse.
  17. Swanson is not a cheater. Is that worth anything?
  18. I agree with the main idea behind the article. The Twins are sinking fast and need to pick it up in many ways. However. I don't agree with the need to sign Correa. I think signing him would make things worse. If they sign him, there's little money for anything else. Then there's the for-certain back end of the contract disaster. All this for a 60 RBI guy who didn't make a significant difference until the end of the year when the Twins were already out of it. When it mattered, his clutch hitting was terrible. But even if he plays great, teams can simply pitch around him. Filling one position hole, with so many others in need will not solve all the problems. And as stated earlier, his signing by itself won't do much for attendance. I think most Twins fans have lost that new season optimism that usually most baseball fans have to begin a fresh season. They know it will be just more of the same crap. They could start by admitting the front office and especially manager didn't get it done, and please, please, please, start over. Fans over time have accepted low expectations, but they don't like hopelessness.
  19. It's called settling. Us Twins fans are used to it. It used to be that the corner outfield positions required a fair amount offense. I guess we'll settle for a defensive specialist.
  20. As if you couldn't find another pitcher with a little upside with less baggage. The front office knew this would be a very unpopular move with the fans. The fans are already frustrated and mad. Slap them in the face again and display bewilderment as to why the attendance is getting to be a problem. Wow. Just another move that's really hard to defend.
  21. It will happen before the Twins win a playoff game.
