  1. Since it appears you think that it is poor that the Twins do not move veteran players, how many other players get moved from position to position by a team? Right versus left field shouldn't be an issue. Nor should swapping places in the middle infield. An inadequate defender in the corner outfield/3b going to first shouldn't count. The list would probably be minimal for adequate veterans. Aging CF to the corners, Miggy to 3b for a season. Lombo to the OF might not count as he was no longer an adequate 2b
  2. Colabello, 32, released a statement through the MLBPA: "On March 13, I got one of the scariest and most definitely the least expected phone calls of my entire life. I was informed by the Players’ Association that a banned substance was found in my urine. I have spent every waking moment since that day trying to find an answer as to why or how? The only thing I know is that I would never compromise the integrity of the game of baseball. I love this game too much! I care too deeply about it. I am saddened more for the impact this will have on my teammates, the organization and the fans of the Toronto Blue Jays. I hope that before anyone passes judgement on me they can take a look at the man that I am, and everything that I have done to get to where I am in my career.”
  3. The oft repeated mantra is Gardenhire did not like young players. Throughout his tenure when the team was winning it was with young players. Players were traded before they became free agents when they could get a return. A veteran MI a few times was crucial addition. Otherwise the veteran added were usually jettisoned later. When the team quit winning, the veterans stunk, err stuck around.
  4. They do not need to add Murphy if he continues to bat in the .100s and SO 25% of the time on AAA pitching.
  5. One would hope the blowouts are because the Twins are hitting rather than the starters throwing BP
  6. FWIW Eric Fryer is 6 for 6 with the Cards. 2.333 OPS
  7. The last few years they have been playing as the Philadelphia 76ers
  8. 90 loses to contender. Houston last year, Boston in 2013, Twins 87
  9. Restovich, Moses, LeCroy, Ramos, Valencia all had potential to develop into power hitters. They did not for the Twins. It is not like they did not try to develop power hitters . Morneau, Jones, Hunter, Cuddyer, and Kubel all had the potential to be power hitters. Some players develop, some do not.
  10. Your point was about the current situation. Shaw hit well for his first half season last year. There was absolutely no reason for Boston to trade for Plouffe over the winter given Shaw's potential unless it was a Sandoval for Plouffe swap or someone else to take Sandoval. Nobody took Sandoval. Nobody is going to take Sandoval. The past history of Cechinni and Middlebrooks have absolutely no bearing in this. The notion that Plouffe was tradable is a myth that will not go away.
  11. The Red Sox had Shaw, a minor league 3b, playing outfield last year in the majors and hitting well.
  12. Travis Shaw, a 3b who was playing some outfield last year with an .810 OPS would say otherwise
  13. Leg injuries are as likely to happen on the basepaths as they are in the field. The Twins batters have found a way to minimize their chances of injury,
  14. Could have sworn that the dome dogs were more than left over.
  15. MLB may frown upon stashing players on the dl. I don't think he would get 8 weeks of dl time.
  16. Craig Breslow is still pitching, landing in Miami
  17. And yet Fielder got traded for a minimal outlay compared to the size of the contract . Paplebon got moved, Jose Reyes, Boston dumped a boatload of contracts on the Dodgers. It isn't what you think of the player, it is what some GM thinks. Again, the advanced pitching statistics fromNolasco's time the NL show him to be a middle of the rotation pitcher.. There are very few pitchers the last few years when healthy regressed by going to the nl. Shields is the only one I can think of. Look at all of the years Jason Hammel stunk before landing with the Cubs. He even stunk in his brief return to the AL with Oakland. All it takes is one GM for the immovable contract to be moved. Contending team, poor back end of the pitching staff, a trade could be done. All Nolasco has to do is be healthy and average.
  18. August 9 and 11, 2014. July 31,2013 December 18, 2013 Just when you least expect it Ryan has managed to offload a veteran player. The stars do need to be in alignment. Some NL team will have a hole in their rotation and remember Nolasco's better times.
  19. Detroit, for when Verlander and Sanchez go down. ROTATION 1. J. Verlander 2. J. Zimmermann 3. A. Sanchez 4. M. Pelfrey 5. D. Norris* 6. M. Boyd 7. S. Greene
  20. http://1w02o12eat3r32ua4r1svxoi.wpengine.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/mahaloha-burger-teri-spam-burger.jpg All depends on how creative you are
  21. Maybe you need to get a twitter feed of all things Max for your fix.
  22. Tony Batista hit 26 HR with an OPS of .663 one year.
  23. The only ball thrown then was the HPB he has recorded at Bref
