  1. You are confusing rankings with a team’s knowledge of the player..
  2. Real good player are unlikely to be traded for a 2 years of control. player who does not have a history of elevating in the playoffs. Just like with the Nelson Cruz trade, teams do make mistakes when they. Need a player for a push.
  3. Maybe the bad luck is who they drafted
  4. The Royals did win the WS. They had a long run of mediocrity since. The Greinke trade shows if you have an elite talent you can get good prospects from a team. I don’t think anyone on the Twins current roster put up a 10 war season like Greinke did
  5. I liked when the blogger stated players were on the wrong side of 30 as one reason why a team would trade for Buxton
  6. There is a difference between opinion pieces and journalism. Most columnists slip into opinion pieces as there is the desire to be first to report. There is no penalty for being wrong. Did Buxton say he would accept a trade? Maybe, maybe not. Maybe there are conditions attached. That is as reasonable assumption. As saying he asked for a trade. Rebuild? That is what small market teams do every year.
  7. The Stewart trade was a player that was injured for most of 5 years for a player that was mostly ineffective for two. There are no winners in that type of trade, The Twins did not have to pay for Stewart’s surgery and rehab. That was the only win. Jax had said he wanted to start. Maybe Tampa will give him the chance the Twins were not going to give him. A failed starter that is now disgruntled for a failing starter is about even. Correa on the way out said that he had been asking to not play shortstop anymore. The trade was better than a salary dump. It was moving what was becoming a negative before the team had to pay more to move on from the player. That would be a win of a move, but also makes the whole Correa signing a bigger loss
  8. Lewis might have had the highest ceiling. The question would be who was going to be the best player. McCarthy might have had the highest ceiling of the QBs available, at the time the Vikings drafted. He also had the longest climb to get there
  9. The numbers made up the reporting may have come from a team wanting to trade for him. Sort of like when the Joel Sherman reports on what the Twins want to do. The possibility of for the clause being waved? 4/120. Like Passan, I picked numbers out of the air. It is not as messy as those who pull them from somewhere else
  10. Last time the Twins had the first pick they chose the guy who would sign for less. They used the money to sign 2 players who did not come close to panning out. There were some great cases made here for taking Gore or Greene
  11. The only way the Twins are signing Hoskins is if the contract is for one year and the first figure isn’t a crooked number and followed by 6 zeros
  12. The dive will have to be deeper than this to figure out what the Twins will do. Any of these would only be signed at a lower price in late February because no one else was signing them. Look for a Fernando Rodney type signing as well as a couple of unproven arms that they think Hawkins can fix. I don’t think they will go the oft injured pitcher route again
  13. Every team has that challenge. I think the hard part is knowing when to trade them for other talent.
  14. The average age of MLB players is somewhere over 28 years old. As the excuse for failure is below average age for level there should be a few breakout stars on the parent club. Of course if Scherzer Verlander and Hill retired thr average age of the MLB players would drop at least by one year
  15. A lot of angst over what is a work in progress. The assumption that the current 40 man is what will be is a stretch. The bargain bin really has not been made available for shopping.
  16. You are either criticizing the blogger or believe clickbait. I am not sure which
  17. Missing from the article is how long has this been around, how do they collect the data and what was the cost. Is it a system that will tell you that the hitter is just hoping the bat meets the ball?
  18. Did the ex hitting coaches want the data? More information to players who do not listen to the information given is a pointless proposition Lewis wouldn’t change. Easier to change the coach than the players. Just ask Rocco.
  19. Better knowledge of biomechanics and outcomes will tell you why to not swing at those pitches with that swing.

  21. Joe Mauer had two non consecutive years of playing 1B more than 100 games in a season. If that is a regular first 1B to you then Sano counts as a regular 1B
  22. The question asked was if there was any world where Sano could be playing first base for the Twins. Classic scenario from old time TV show. Yes there is a world in which Sano successfully plays 1B for the Twins. In black and white, it is found in the Twilight Zone.
