  1. The age of the pitcher the batter faces in the minor leagues is irrelevant, especially at the AAA level. The level of baseball played is based on talent. That would be even more true for AAA as over a third. Of the pitchers used at the mlb level had a FIP over 5. This FO has shown little concern for injury history. They have for the last few year had a backup plan for Buxton. Some years not as successful as others
  2. The small sample size of AAA experience of Jenkins and Walker is part of the reason to retain Larnach. The injury history of Rodriguez is another part of the reason. Poden and Martin (Thank you autocorrect for Rowan and Martin). Have not had sustained success at MLB levels. That is why they have to retain Larnach. The infielder options have a worse prognoses for success than Larnach. We shall see if the numbers put forth by MLTR that people use as for real contracts are accurate. The signings have been for less than what MLTR says, the non tender list is quite long.
  3. Fangraphs lists 107 players who played catcher last year. 29 had a better than league average OPS. So there is generally not much power there, In terms of batting average only 38 have hit worse that the career batting average of Mario Mendoza.
  4. Did you read the article? Did you ever get better at doing anything skill wise? Not trying to be insulting, it is more wonderment where the thinking behind your statement comes from when there is reasonable information
  5. The players added by the rule 5 draft cab be traded. So it is not true they have to remain on the roster
  6. A player can learn something and improve? Will wonder never cease. With all of the comments on the other thread and some of the reactions here I now understand why the writers have moved away from discussing technical baseball
  7. Farmer was coming off a career year and signed for a “small” raise. Small being relative to a baseball contract, not the real world
  8. There are 34 other players that can be traded Just as I could not find the you can’t DFA any of the 6 until spring I cannot find where there is a rule prohibiting roster moves. So go ask Chief. He might even be so kind as to say where he found the current rules
  9. They can DFA anyone off the roster. That would make them eligible to be claimed for nothing. It really defeats the purpose of putting them on your 40 man to begin with
  10. Pretty much most of the other outfielders have a higher ceiling than Larnach. Larnach has established a floor level. It is above what the others have done. The chance of a minimal raise being accepted is still there until the deadline.
  11. Only the other potential outfielder/DH types have to outhit Larnach. I don’t think the backup catcher or shortstop has to worry too much about outhitting him.
  12. The 3 Yankees poached 2 years ago have been real difference makers. One was returned, hence not poached. One has seen 24 games in two years. One did pitch better, but did not hold onto his SP role and ended up spending time in the minors in 25 Shane Smith did pitch very well. There are mistakes made every once in a while .like once a decade
  13. A very small possibility that the minority owners have some knowledge that is useful?
  14. Bill Pohlad’s box office from low budget films is 0.7 billion. He has made money. The office market went belly up but their 14 assisted living facilities rake in cash. The approval of money spent is on Jim Pohlad. there are a half dozen CFO, Senior vice president, vice presidents in charge of revenue, They couldn’t see covid coming. They should have seen the demise of the RSNs as cash cows. It is funny with all of the cheap Pohlad themes on this site there is one criticizing for spending money.
  15. Same bat time. Same bat channel
  16. The central division is always going to be able to be had if everything goes well for a team. If a trade is to be made that would either be a sign that Falvey and Zoll think that 2 of Abel, Bradley, Festa and Mathews are ready to step up and be competent full time starters and Ober will return to form. A trade could also signal that they have no confidence in the hitters developing. When they said last year that they liked their roster, I took it as a sign they liked their position players they had. The year that some had could dissuade them, but I think the kind of have a lot of confidence in their process. That process is debatable. That air of confidence leads me to think their opinion is these players will step. Forward. Then again, I have also thought that if this season under a third allegedly knowledgeable hitting coach the offense goes flat again it is strike three and they are all out.
  17. Baseball claimed that 19.4 billion minutes of baseball was viewed by streaming worldwide. The average length of a game was just under 160 minutes . If every game was watched beginning to end, that would be 121,250,000 game views. views. There were 2477 games plus playoffs. Might be off a rainout or two. That is less than 50k viewers per game worldwide. That is not good ratings
  18. The vetting process is probably the concern.. 2 groups of people, not 2 individuals. Between the history of some of the past owners and current owners there shouldn’t be a question of why the long process.
  19. Arby didn’t mention Reardon. I will give him credit for not thinking that the Twins are going to trade for a top 5 closer
  20. Full roster. Maybe they expect a 1b to be non tendered. They still have plenty of non tender bats they could move on from. Clemens would be 6th on their list in regards to Julian, of course the new hitting coach is going to make Julian back to what he was as a rookie. Same for Outman. Those gaudy numbers Keirsey, McKusker, Roden, Gasper and Clemens put up in the minors are also going to shine through. Well, if it is strike three for hitting coaches does that mean everybody is out?
  21. They have a full 40 man, no real closer, 12 starting pitchers. Is the bullpen going to be would be starters every fourth day? That would be a new wrinkle to baseball
