    Welcome to TD. You probably have not noticed that any minor league layer here that is under the average age of the level they are at that statistic gets mentioned. It is either a wow type thing or why they are having difficulty at that level. Considering that players are usually assigned levels by talent it should be meaningless. The same wow bit is not applied at the major league level. My post was sarcasm. Two people even acknowledged it as such. The clue was mentioning the old players and the obvious math error that three players retiring would drastically change the average age of well over 600 players who play at the major league level every year.

    The experiment in St Paul probably gave them the ballpark number for pitch counts on 4 days rest. The pitchers would stay reasonably stretched out to shift to starter when injuries happen.

    One could also say that spending an additional 80 million would have only increases the debt by 80 million. The value would not increase because the franchise would be going backwards on the balance sheet. To pay for that 80 million would take an additional 3 million fans

    Of the 20 who caught the most games according to fangraphs, and the 20 on the bottom 18 were over 30. 12 were signed as internationals. 15 were drafted after 2016

    You did not answer the question of how were the Twins to know that a career 700 OPS player would fall off overnight. As you don’t have an answer for that and insist they should not have signed him, the only way to avoid that conundrum is to not sign any players. What’s so hard about that?

    Vasquez pretty much OPS .700 before coming to the Twins. Please be so kind if you are going to bash the Twins for signing him how they were to know that his bat would fall off that quickly. Since you are so opposed to this deal, the only way to avoid that situation is to not sign free agents

    There is a big difference between the Cruz trade and the Realmuto trade that most people seem oblivious to.

    The more desperate a team is for a player the better the deal for the seller. If the Twins are dealing starters they are best off letting the market come to them.

    Falvey said at the trade deadline he wasn’t going to trade Ryan unless he was blown away. On the other players he said MLB ready has to come back. That philosophy was followed. After seeing the havoc injuries can cause hopefully he has learned not to trade for injured nor oft injured players unless they are at a bargain.
