The stars aligning is how any mid market teams wins. That is pretty much true for some of the large market teams. The stars aligned twice for Houston to get Verlander for nothing

Alan Roden has better AAA numbers than Mayo. He struggled in Toronto in a brief stay there, struggled here before injury. Mayo struggled in a brief stay in Boston. If they traded for him and he struggled here there might be an explosion. The only reason to trade for either of them is to give up only a high high risk, high reward prospect from the lower levels

A team seeking to sell or buy generally does worse in a trade. Patience is a virtue. Not many here seem to have it

The solution would be the dissolution of the school conferences in football in the FBS level divide it into the pp level for pseudo professional, and the HN level for have nots. 136 teas makes for 4 divisions of 17 in each group playoffs are top 4 in each of the pp divisions.

Twins payroll is less than Dodgers luxury tax
old nurse replied to thelanges5's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Moral of the story is to root for the team that draws in the most revenue, hate on the team that doesn’t. Cheer for the big guys -
League average hitter is a useless stat when one is looking for a starting 1b. It is a nice list showing the dearth of power hitters. Names of players with one or two good years or progressing downhill is not of much use it is the same type of player that they will after plast the Twins for signing or trading for

The negativity toward players, managers and owners in most situations would be called toxic. When player and coach have a mutual respect for one another, the manager shouldn’t have to say much. The player would be wanting to do the right thing. With the narcissist, they can play enough lip service for awhile to skate for a bit.

Chapman at the time was the gold standard for relievers whereas Duran would be a step below. Houston in their rebuild did not get any players of note by trading their stars.

Taking Correa’s absences and 1/2 out of 3 years playing well for the alleged HOF player off the roster can almost be addition by subtraction

Only 4 teams haven’t signed a MLB FA
old nurse replied to thelanges5's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Last 2 years Bader, Columba and Santana outperformed their contracts. 3 other contracts were minimal wage player. France was better than expected. There is no problem -

How would you know they are not talking to players now? -
The Twins hav.e 2 frontline starters, a 4 WAR player in Buxton a 3 in Jeffers they need to have Jeffers be a 4. He seems capable of being that. Now that he no longer has rookie status there is just pessimism thrown his way. If there was a closer that would be a strong core SWR last year was what suffices as a fourth starter What will determine if the season is to have success , beyond those. 4s health is the uncertainties. There is the comeback kid. Does Ober come back to what he was before last year. There was a blogger here who claimed he could be Cy Young worthy There are the 2 maybe brothers in Lewis and Wallner. Maybe they will put it together, maybe they wont. Both are capable of playing a great game, just not last year. There is the mystery three. Which 3 starters are going to the failed starters at the back of the bullpen. There are the 4 mirages. As in was that a mirage and will it be back? 4 pitcher mirages in Prielipp’s relative health, Funderburk’s post deadline pitching, Topa and Sands competent years. The 4 position player mirages would be Martin after the deadline, the new catcher’s season last year, Jullian’s rookie season and Clemen’s existence. A good start to the season may be essential, but it will not help for deadline additions if they are contending

Twins Should Look to Baltimore for First Base Help
old nurse replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Orioles need front line starters. Plural. Also middle of rotation. Would the Orioles be signing a 1B if they thought the M and M boys were going to be 2-4 WAR first basemen would they be signing Alonso? There is as good of reason as any to not. Give up anything of value for either one of them. -
You do not like that you are called out on not understanding that it was the reserve clause which allowed Calvin to keep the players he liked because there was no competition for their services. Quit trying to twist things to fit your agenda. This is after you say I should quit trying so hard on my posting. That is the funny part of your posting. Along with the words in caps.

Fried,, Snell, and Burnes contracts last year compared to Scott, Trienen and Estevez’s contrives. Yup relief pitching is as important as starting when you look at the dollars spent. Fried’s contract alone might be more than what was spent on all of the relievers signed last year. A reliever with a five year history of being injured every year manages to stay healthy for 4 months with limited use was only going to bring back an extremely low chance lottery ticket. People can quit whining about the return for Stewart

If they were doing just to make a profit, the roster would be all pre arb through. Arb 1-2 players. There would be no need for half the coaches they hire nor 3/4 of the front office.

The Polanco trade. The centerpiece or reason for the trade always depends on the point the author wishes to make.

You are the one making the big deal out of players staying and made a big deal out of that the team stayed together in the 60s. They had a choice, play for the Twins or don’t play at all. That is a far cry from 6 years of control. The money is different, too. Yes , you are right that II try so hard to get you to see how much you miss. I t is a futile endeavor. Do me a favor and just mute me

Twins Should Look to Baltimore for First Base Help

Mouncastle’s arb estimate is 7.8m. 5–7m accepted? Off his last year’s production maybe. Opt outs do not benefit a team unless they are hoping for a 1 year deal. If the player gets worse, the team suffers, if they get better, they are gone -

Mountcastle could neither hit nor field last year. France could field SWR might be an overpay for Mayo. SWR would be about their third best SP whereas Mayo is extra in AAA. With the dearth of. SP, SWR is worth mmore than a AAA player -
