When Miami traded Realmuto they ended up with 2 failed prospects and a journeyman catcher they sold for cash. They also bought more lottery tickets for the IFA class. In other words, they traded him for nothing. Jeffers for low level prospects is also selling for nothing. Cody laid out the argument for not trading Jeffers

Buying prospects by taking on bad contracts
old nurse replied to DJL44's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
The contract for a prospect has a flaw. The large contract means somebody has enough good prospects they can sell a few. What prospect do the Mets. Have that is worth 50 million? A whole draft class and IFA class comes in at around 20 million or less. The math doesn’t look like it would work. -
Kody Clemens: A Good Player in the Wrong Role?

You can say sell high. Falvey has even at one point said he would sell high. Why does the concept that teams are not buying high never crosses some peoples cerebral cortex?

87 team needed a free agent outfielder, a couple of back end bullpen arms from an era they were not highly compensated to raise the level of play from 71 wins to WS

In 2025 Wallner was used differently than in 24, so what is the point of bringing up 24? Nope you will never know why Miranda went down in performance. Doesn’t stop people from making unsubstantial caims it was the Twins fault According to Fangraphs he had an OPS of over .800 when he got hit in the head and in the time afterwards it was under .600. So it is entirely impossible that the headbonk from a 95 MPH fastball had absolutely no impact of Miranda’s career

The Twins will likely sign a closer, but it will not be a big name. Rebound, end of the line much like Fernando was. Trades are only if favorable to the Twins Owners, don’t know old declining first baseman? They got lucky with Santana, They could try, but the names mentioned have been in decline far longer than Santana was. Lots of people seem to think highly of some of the people available. I doubt people would watch for the retread

Buying prospects by taking on bad contracts
old nurse replied to DJL44's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
The value of the prospects available would come nowhere near the cost of player coming with the contract. The notion that they would have value at the deadline contradicts. The player being traded at the deadlin -
when they traded for him, i don't think they expected anything out of him either. They left him in the minors in favor Rodon and Martin

it would take a tax lawyer to explain the tax benefits of owning a team during the years they can depreciate the team.

Twill this year be different? Will Jenkins, ERod, Gonzalez, even Culpepper see ML ABs? Will Wallner get platooned every time a lefty takes the mound? That is from your previous post. Nice that you run away from your comment Larnach was sent down in 24 for injury rehab and was not sent down in 25 So when they sent down Julian, where was your posts saying they needed to give him more major league AB? Miranda was never the same after getting beaned. Off the top f my head, all I can say is Kirriloff was injured a lot. He was counted on being a 1B/of until the bone issue I doubt you looked up playing time and injuries for your statement Wallner was out with a hamstring injury and an Oblique injure, otherwise he was in all but 18-19 games. About 1/4 of his hitting was done against LH pitching. BREF says he started 13 games against LH. Wallner does not automatically sit against LH

So with call ups , how many decent pitchers did he face in September? Would have they platooned Joe Mauer or not. Since you looked that up, I bet you checked his minor league stats to see if he hit lefties down there. Different era, different game. For Mays How many people here have said to get rid of Julian? Not a peep in response out of any of you that they needed to stick with him on the major lrague level?

A direct question gets vague answers and suppositions. Yup draft pedigree means a lot. Every first through 10th rounder develops into a MLP player when given consistent reps. How many struggling days in a row does a player get? Sending a player down destroys their confidence? Not failure at the big league level? Was there a study on that? Jenkins didn’t hit AAA pitching in the AB he got there. Emmanuel Rodriguez spent most of the summer injured once again. Out until late in August. I am just so sure it is a conscious decision to block his development by injuring him Gonzalez made it through 3 levels last season. So yup, the Twins are slowing his development too. The Twins did nothing to impede any of these 3 players in 2025, Yet you want to cry the Twins will impede them in 2026. There is no arguing with your logic there. Totally ****ing pointless

Well, legal age for CBD varies by state, so I couldn’t use that. Chew is 21, couldn’t use that.

It should not have taken too much to figure out that the asking price was going to be high for any of the Twins players. Falvey even said as much last summer. The suspected landing spots for players have not paid that kind of price, nor much more than a discount price for a player. Again, something that shouldn’t have been too hard to figure out why a trade wasn’t going to happen

The fangraphs projection system for wins and losses has been inaccurate. The team WAR totals have been surprisingly close. The totals for central division teams are close to each other. I would think with all of their analytics the Twins FO,, as well as the other teams FO would act accordingly. Many here would appear to not think that way
