    My question, does Camargo strike out enough to qualify for a promotion to the Twins? Thru all the excitement, Regie Grace had a tough night out of the pen. Was wondering if going 2+ innings was part of the problem. Expect someone knows, is this the first time he went that deep?

    No, Buxton needs to be shut down (placed on the IL) until he can play baseball. That means batting and playing center field.

    Interesting comment, PDX. I have an old college roommate who was at Harvard B-School when the guy from Enron, I forget his name, who went to jail was in his class. He always said that there is always a handful of students at B-School who are known to be so much smarter than everyone else. In his class, that group had the belief that this Enron guy was so much smarter than they were. I got a feeling if this Enron guy was running the Twins they would be winning a lot more games than they are. I gotta believe he is out of jail by now, isn't he? Does anyone know?

    Yes, agreed Cody. Doesn't make a difference what sport it is, but the team's veteran stars must be the team's on the field leaders. My old Packers had Starr, Gregg, Kramer, Kramer, Taylor, Hornung, McGee, Nitschke, and Wood, plus others. My Braves had Spahn, Burdette, Crandall, Mathews, Aaron, Logan and Adcock. For the Twins, that's Buxton and Correa. Add Kepler and Polanco who are veterans who have been around the longest and you have a group of four that should be providing the leadership. With Correa in his second year with the biggest long-term contract, he needs to be out front. Additional leadership must come from the Manager and certain coaches. I am not in the clubhouse or dugout, but all indications are that none of this group is providing that leadership. And if they are, it sure as hell isn't making any difference. I guess the good news is that with Correa around for another six years the Dior store should have a nice bottom line. Eventually responsibility for success in all businesses comes back to the owner. I don't know where the Twins will end the year, but an awful lot seems to be pointing to a replay of last year. I guess the pitching is so good that a total collapse isn't likely, but a division crown certainly isn't looking good. Should Cleveland win the division with a .500 +/- record with the Twins double digit games out, young Pohlad should be furious. Having a computer running the team ain't working. Hopefully, he will sit down with top management and demand change or resignations, whichever seems most appropriate.

    I expect the Twins have a super computer in some back room at Target Field. That computer will tell them who to pick and it may shock many of you.

    No, didn't have a clue you could even find this info. Although in today's technology rules everything, probably should have known. As for Keirsey, looks like he is among the best of a pretty good group of players.

    Great article, Seth, thanks. When I finished reading this I was thinking this kid should be ahead of Celestino in the next centerfielder pecking order. Why? I'll admit I am no longer a big fan of Celestino. I guess his doing so many fundamental parts of the game poorly has lowered my expectations of him. You know, baserunning mistakes, throwing to the wrong base, along with not having elite center field speed. So that puts this young man next up to be the Twins centerfielder in 2024 should Taylor not resign, Castro continue as a utility man and Buxton remain as a hitter only. Let's hope he gets the move up to AAA soon so we have a better idea if that makes sense.

    Will agree that the Mahle trade turned out to be the worst, however, that is due to injury and lack of getting anything from Mahle. Don't know whether or not the Twins should have had a better idea that could be the result. Will agree with Fire Dan that this would be a better read if you had included more information on what those players traded by the Twins have done since the trade. On the surface I would say the Dyson trade maybe should be #1. But if those players send out have not returned anything to the Giants, it is a wash and maybe shouldn't even be in the worst five. Overall, several of these may work out ok for the Twins over the long haul, thus, maybe shouldn't be rated in the five worst.

    Looking at Grace, Williams and others, Seth, it is evident that the lost 2020 season will continue having an effect on an entire generation of prospects. With that said, I am elated at how well Regie Grace is pitching. Will he continue this excellence and join the Twins next year? Sure would be nice to get another top arm for the back end of that bullpen. Thought that fivesome of starting pitchers is an interesting, and exciting, group. Will one or more form that pipeline fans are expecting from this front office? Also found it interesting who isn't on these lists, Brooks Lee.

    Began watching the game and flipped to the FBI trilogy after the fourth home run in the second. Game over. Remember thinking as Ryan went out for the ninth inning of his shutout that he was going to be in trouble next time out. Doesn't mean I think it was a mistake to let him go 9, just that the next start would be a loss for the Twins. Kept checking during commercials and was pleasantly surprised the Braves score stayed at 6. Was really expecting a 15+ to 2 blowout. Seems every time I checked the Twins had a couple guys on base and zero or one out, yet no one scored. That my friends, is the problem with this team and a problem that won't go away until much of the coaching staff leaves. Too many problems to even think about what changes are needed to get this club headed in the right direction. Best place to start is to keep playing the kids, Lewis, Kirilloff, Julien, Wallner and Larnach. Also try to figure out how to get Miranda back on track and into the lineup. I guess that process begins by not worrying about this season and jettisoning several pieces of the current team between now and July 31. And as bad as the Central Division is, who knows what the result will be. Kept thinking about how good that Atlanta lineup is. And Eddie Rosario is a key piece of it. Still believe it was a huge mistake to let him go because he was a big part of the heart and soul of this team.

    Great topic Nick, Thanks. Prior to reading anything about this I was wondering last night while watching the game, "Why the hell isn't Lewis playing. He is coming off a 3 hit game on Sunday." Did he sit because of his comment? Did he sit because he is not blindly following the direction of the hitting coaches? All I know is the kid has been getting lots of hits with his strikeout rate going down, way down. Want to add one thought to this discussion.. Shouldn't a hitting coach, hell any coach, attempt to get the most out of every player? Isn't the best way to do that to tailor the instruction to that player's strengths and abilities. Yes, swinging out of your shoes on a mistake may work for some players. The Arraez approach will work for others. There are likely lots of other options for other players. Attempting to mold all the players into one hitting style is not only a plan destined to fail, it is stupid in my opinion. As for the hits at Reussie, I have enjoyed reading his articles for years. Love his pieces on some unknown guy from X small town. Also enjoy the shots he takes at whomever. Sometimes I won't agree with him, but more often than not I do. So I like the guy and look forward to his next article. Note: I don't do twitter, so all I see is what's in the Strib.

    Fun game to watch, until it wasn’t. Gotta wonder what happens if he lets Gray pitch to one more hitter, but can’t blame him for making the change. Biggest problem I saw was getting nothing in the 8th with Julien and AK on second and third.

    Great read, Nick. As great as Duran and the other two are, the bullpen remains a bit shaky beyond this trio. If the Twins want to make a run in the playoffs, they need one of the injured trio of Lopez, Thielbar and Alcala to get healthy and pitching like they can when at their best. It would also be great if they found one more young gun from the minors to move up and become someone they can depend on. Could be Winder, Balazovic, Moran or someone else? Would love it to be Reggie Grace, but there is no way he can get to the Twins before next summer at the earliest.

    Seems you believe a major reason for going out and getting Goldschmidt is because he is a right handed bat. Have a better answer, go out and get two of who many believe are are amongst the best players in baseball and they hit right handed. Who? Buxton and Correa. If they start playing like expected, you won't need a big right handed bat. If they don't, one more bat won't make a difference.

    I think we all need to remember that a year ago Lee was finishing his college career and yet to be drafted. For a kid with such little experience at AA, his numbers are more than solid.

    OK, Seth, I know nothing, nothing about Grant. How bout someone doing a feature on this guy? Always great seeing Miller with a couple hits and oh so good that ERod has been hitting for awhile like the player we expected him to be. Add in a nice appearance by Enlow and all is good in Twinkie Land. Thanks for a great report.

    Hell of a day for kids named Rodriguez. Jose goes 4 for 4 and can't even earn the Hitter of the Day honors. But ERod's double, triple and homer sure adds a smile for a young man we all hope will be a star for the Twins beginning as soon as ???????

    I'll answer that. I want to see him improve his defense a lot. I haven't seen him play one inning at AAA and maybe he has improved, I don't know. And maybe the few games I saw on tv late last year were plays he normally wouldn't blow. I know he has a cannon for an arm, but letting ground balls go thru his legs doesn't cut it in high school, much less the Twins.

    It is highly likely Keps run with the Twins will soon come to an end. Will that be at the trade deadline, maybe, more likely not. Will it be at the end of the season, probably. But as long as he is a Twin, there is a chance, albeit tiny, that he is back next year. So with the likelihood that Max will be leaving either soon or at year end, why do writers like you continue to pile on. Does a week go by without someone on this site writing a negative article about Max? Heck, this is the second in the last 24 hours. Everyone in the Twins universe knows Max hasn't been hitting for a long time. He is a heck of a defensive right fielder and that ball the other night was a crazy bounce that I don't think anyone could have played right. Will he build on the last couple games and put a charge into the Twins for the rest of the year? Probably not. But Max has been a class act who I for one am happy was a Twins for these last whatever years. And should the Twins move on from him at year end, I wouldn't be surprised if Max retires at a very young age.

    Take a look at ERod’s numbers in June. Looking like the player we hoped he would be. Add me to the list of those who would prefer either Wallner or Larnach with the Twins and Gallo gone.

    Thanks for a great read, Steve. With Wolters out for awhile, increases the likelihood that Camargo or Williams would get the call should/when either of the Twins catchers go on the IL. Do you agree? Or would they more likely go out to the garbage bin and find someone to sign or trade for? After another good game from Sabato, his batting average is where it would fit right in with the Twins. Great seeing Reggie Grace continue putting up zeros on the scoreboard. Can he, could he, might he be a key part of the pen starting next year? Also great seeing ERod hitting like we all hoped. Still has time to end the season with great numbers and a move up to AA. Expect Rosario should/will get the first callup, however. Lewis sure has gotten my attention. Hopefully, the Twins Braintrust won't include him when they trade for someone next month. Also thanks for including that video. Truly amazing!

    No, because Max plays right field very well and is out there most of the time. Although will agree most is becoming less due to his bat. Today's Strib also had a better explanation of why Buxton isn't in center. Watching the game last night and hearing Rocco's comments about his not being physically able to play outfield I kept wondering, why? If he can hit and run the bases, why can't he play outfield. Turns out the paper explains the daily wear and tear on his legs from running around out there every day would put him back on the IL. As for above comments about his future, expect no one knows if that will be for this year or the rest of his career?

    YOu didn't mention the trade with the Giants a couple years ago for the reliever who's name I don't remember. Doubt the Twins remember either. Did he actually pitch for them? Or did he go straight to the DL without crossing GO? Looking back that's six trades, including the Giants deal. Did they win any? Doesn't look like it to me, although some might say the Maeda deal has been ok. But what is worse, several of the biggest names acquired went straight to the IL.
