  1. As usual, DJL44, my writing often isn't as clear as my thoughts. The battle I envision for second base next spring will/could include Lee, Lewis, Martin, and Julien in addition to the veterans, Polo and Farmer. Reason I say Lewis is he could be at either second or third. But what if Miranda's 2023 disaster was really the result of his injury from spring? What if he returns as the player he was in 2022?
  2. The Twins really need Lewis back. Hopefully he returns Monday and is healthy thru the playoffs. Also could use a healthy AK. Could not be more excited for those two high school kids down in Florida. With both Lee and Martin playing well, what a battle next spring for the second base job. Will Polo still be a Twin?
  3. Good seeing Lewis get a rehab game against a Big League pitcher who also was on a rehab assignment. 0 for 2, but two walks and a run is a good day. Seeing he was again at third base is telling us that's where he is going to play for the Twins the rest of 2023. With the way the Twins were swinging the bat yesterday, they are screaming to get this young man back in their lineup. Getting AK back would also help, although we haven't heard much about when? Also great seeing ERod and Jenkins with two hit games with ERod also picking up two walks. Will these young men be two-thirds of a future Twins outfield? Enlow teased the Twins with his pitching earlier this season. But unless he is pitching thru an unreported injury, his recent results are telling us a call back to the 40-man ain't gonna happen. Really is disappointing, because most of us have thought since the day he signed with the Twins that he could/would be a good one.
  4. Was excited seeing Bechtold get his first win. Then I saw that he put three men on base and wasn't as excited, but what a fantastic story. Interesting year for the Dobber. Seems he has been pitching very well for awhile. Has it been the past several months? Doubt we have heard the last from him. And Twins fans should certainly be excited about the trio just promoted to the Saints. And they all are settling in nicely. Add Martin to that trio and the future looks bright.
  5. A lot of people will disagree, but I see Castro as replacing Gordon, who just may have played his last game as a Twin.
  6. Couldn’t read most of the article, but didn’t see Larnach mentioned. He still has time to develop into a fine player. Also believe Miranda’s terrible season may be 100% injury related.
  7. Noticed Jenkins 2 steals also. I know people believe he can stick in center. But how fast is he? Will double down on the positive comments about Martin. The Twins really have a fantastic group of position players who are either very close or just arrived. AK, Julien, Lewis, Wallner, Larnach, Lee, Severino, Kiersey, and Martin. And that doesn’t include Miranda, who’s disaster year may be injury related.
  8. The best news for me in your report, Seth, is that Lewis will begin his rehab. My biggest question, where will he be playing in the field? Still think he is the Twins third baseman of the future for as long as Correa is at shortstop. What a fantastic day for young Jenkins. I keep reading about him and thinking Mickey Mantle. Well, Mantle joined the Yankees when he was 19. I know times have changed, so I don't expect to see him at Target Field until he is 20. Got a good smile when reading about the tribute to Harvey Kuenn III. Got me wondering. Was the fantastic player I remember playing at Detroit against my Braves his dad? Or was it his granddad? Expect it was his dad, but don't recall him being a junior or II.
  9. Expect many of you who have been calling for the Twins to DFA or trade Max for a bucket of balls may, I repeat, may be in for a surprise come the off-season. I expect there is a good chance the Twins either exercise their option or sign him to a new contract for a couple years at a few less dollars per. Yes, Max had been hitting much like last year the first several months of the season. He also had a few game stretch earlier where he didn't seem to be himself in right field. But the fact the shifts are gone may have finally settled into his brain and he has begun feeling good about stepping up to the plate. The results have been his possibly being the Twins best hitter the past month or so. He also is back to being that guy you would have out in right field rather than anyone else.
  10. Although he is no longer listed among the Top 20, always great seeing Miller with a multi-hit day. Still has lots of time to develop into a hitter similar to his brother. When combined with his glove, that would be a very good big league player. Assume Lewis will be in your Top 20 next time you do it?
  11. Fantastic seeing Martin with another multi-multi hit game. Also noticed he was in left field again. Expect the writing is on the wall and it says his future is in the outfield. Noticed this Winkel kid had another big game with the bat. What's his defense like behind the plate? If it is good, add his name to the list of potential catchers for 2026 and beyond. Great night from those two high school kids taken in the first three rounds this year. I want to see people talking about Jenkins as the next Mickey Mantle. Wouldn't that be nice. Although if my memory isn't totally gone, the Mick's career was shortened by leg injuries.
  12. The most disappointing part of this post, Seth, is that Stewart was moved to the 60-day IL. When is he eligible to return? Wasn't he supposed to have an MRI or something a couple days ago? I suspect this move suggests that it wasn't good.
  13. Add me to those who really appreciate this interview, thanks Devin. Like many of you I am most interested in whatever path gets Matt to the Twins quickly. Considering he hasn't pitched in seemingly forever, expect that will be out of the bullpen in 2024. Like most of you, although unlikely I am hopeful that arrival with the Twins comes late in the 2024 season. Along with Prielipp, this young man is the best pitching prospect the Twins have and have had in some time. Have a wonderful winter, Matt, and blow their socks off in spring training forcing your name into the discussion of a summer callup.
  14. Another great game from both ERod and Keaschall, who is off to a fantastic start to his career. Seeing he was your hitter of the day, took a longer look at how Winkell has been doing this year, where he came from, etc. Seems he is one of several catchers who are hitting better than we normally expect from catchers. Unfortunately, I know nothing about his defense. Jeffers has taken the role of the Twins #1 catcher, although they are playing about equal games. His bat is back where we hoped it would be and he must have worked hard over the winter because his defense is so much better. The Twins will need to replace Vazquez in 2026. Do you believe, Seth, that his replacement is currently in the organization? If so, who do you think is most likely to be that man? Will he be ready to be their #3 guy in 2024 if either catcher gets injured? Speaking of catchers, saw that Rortvedt caught Gerrit Cole last night for the Yankees.
  15. Great seeing ERod with games like yesterday. After an extended slow start to the year, he is playing like the player we hoped for the past month or so. Is this Keaschall kid someone we should be hitching our wagons to? Sure reminds me of Dozier, or maybe more recently Spencer Steer. Got my fingers crossed that this draft class will turn out to be special. Just need to get Mickey Mantle, I mean Walker Jenkins, out on the field.
  16. Cannot believe how sharp this young man is. Listening to the clip included, he speaks so well and his maturity is way beyond a typical 18-year old kid. What is most interesting is the relationship he has with the other two high school kids taken at the start of this draft. Have the Twins ever had a trio of high school kids with this much potential in the same draft? Will they all play for the Twins four, five or six years from now?
  17. Was this Varland's best start since being sent down? Got to see this kid keep pitching like this the rest of the year. Doesn't matter if he is called back to the Twins, but they need to KNOW that he is a big league pitcher they can count on to be in the hunt for their #5 slot next spring. Or at the worst, be their #6 guy who begins the season at St. Paul and is next up when needed. Another two hit game from Lee. Considering this is his first full season and he is at AA tells me this kid is for real. Also great seeing Martin with two hits. Seems like he has shaken off the rust from being out most of the year and is beginning to hit like we hoped. Also interesting to see he was in left field on Sunday. Seems to be playing as much or more in the outfield than infield. Considering the Twins depth at second and third, will Martin still be a Twin tomorrow? Was yesterday the Kernels' second straight loss?
  18. Severino is certainly rewarding the Twins for giving him a second +$2M check after the Atlanta fiasco. His numbers weren't all that special, until this year. Is going to have to be added to the 40-man this year. But as a second and third baseman, where will he play? The Twins should be set with Lee and Lewis at those spots for much of the next decade. Can he go to the outfield? Or first base? Or is now the time to get the biggest bang for their buck before Tuesday's deadline?
  19. Have always like Jeffers bat, but had real concerns about his defense. Yes, I understand he does a good job framing, but controlling the running game and blocking pitches in the dirt has been a major concern, at least for me. I see a totally different catcher out there this year. He is much better at blocking pitches and has also done a nice job controlling the new running game. Has become a plus defender, in my observation. Excellent reward for what I suspect was a lot of work over the offseason. And the bat has returned to what it was when he came up. All in all, one of the strengths of this team and deserves to play at least half the games.
  20. Totally agree in sending Moran to St Paul, however, I would bring back Thielbar in his place. Would add Kuechel as the 13th pitcher and piggy back him with several starters who seem to be wearing down. Start Ober with the intent of his only going say 2.0 innings. Then bring in Kuechel for 5 innings. Do that a couple times and maybe Ober gets back towards what he was. Then do the same with Ryan or whomever. Probably only guy who doesn't need less innings is Maeda, who spent so much time on the IL. When Stewart is ready, replace Winder or whomever is not pitching well at that point. And hopefully, there is another bullpen decision to make with some type of trade in the next 48 hours.
  21. So exciting to see Martin playing and having nights like last night. They are gonna have to add Severino to the 40-man, aren’t they? Is going to be an exciting 72 hours. What will they do with Kuechel? Will they move one of the corner outfielders?
  22. Unfortunately, the two most elite arms in the system are probably Canterino and Prielipp. Will either be healthy next year and get back on track? Canterino should be ready in spring, Prielipp not likely.
  23. Signing deadline was Tuesday. One of the last two high school picks is going to JC, thus they can sign him next spring following his season to a maximum contract of $225,000. Continue to be pleasantly surprised by Bechtold, who had another clean inning of relief. Caught your comment, Ted, about Lee. Have you heard something about his moving up to St. Paul? Or just your belief that it is time for the move? Will second those above comments that it is great to see some of this year's draft picks in action. Heck of a first game for both Winokur and the second baseman from ASU.
  24. Article would have had more merit, Mike, if it had shown if any of those high school kids drafted by the Twins and not signed have done anything. I don’t know the answer and it could change my opinion.
