  1. I am more than aggressive and hoping for 2020. Depending on his third pitch, move him up fast.
  2. I was hoping a little more toward Kirby Puckett. Still a good comp. Thanks.
  3. I also feel the Twins need to sign 1 top flight starter and a flyer or two. Things may work out, but squadering the chance is not good.
  4. Rortvedt seems too high, but will need to see the rest of the list to be sure. Depends on where a lot of the relievers fall, seems like many of them have fallen off the map in the last year (Burdi, Bard gone), (Reed ,Chaigos, Melentakos, and several others who were projected here two years ago are no longer on the list). It may just be that relievers are hard to read, and until they make it not all that valuable.
  5. You will never get the owners to agree to a revenue sharing, you will never get the players to agree to a hard salary cap. Something has to give or we are looking at a major workstopege when the current contract runs out. Some of this is on the owners, some of this is on agents like Boras who always seem to find an owner to give into his demands. What you are seeing is an adjustment period, and the players do not like it. I had wondered how long it would take the teams to realize the small quality difference between the average position player and the top flight of youngsters coming up. And this verus the dollars between the two. Players have played the owners for being stupid. Payback looks like it is coming.
  6. Still want Darvish. Sortof agree on the rest. Cobb may have more upside, but not worth the extra money.
  7. The only way you can justify letting players reach FA earlier is with a hard salary cap and total revenue sharing. The Yankees make more off of their local radio/tv contracts them most clubs make a year in total revenue. You need to balance the system.
  8. Then you might as well go back to 16 major league teams, most of the other 14 will be no more than farm systems most years.
  9. Nice and interesting set of players. Thanks for the post.
  10. I feel the bargain theory is correct, plus not a lot of top line talent here. Major league players are already feeling the heat and talking strike (cannot happen until after 2021), so there is a feeling out there that something is going on. Most of what I see is that the younger talent is better and better coached, and the players on the wrong side of 30 are being forced to play for little.
  11. White Sox are the only team that could be below .500 and not lose 90. Twins have a chance with this division to win between 45 - 50 of the games played in the Central. That is a very good base and with a couple of east teams maybe tanking after June it will depend on when and where we play the other teams. Yes with a major pitching upgrade this team should win 90. Just worried that without it we may win 85 - 87 and be on the outside looking in and wasting a year of our talent.
  12. Most of the high level starters in 2018 off season will not hit free agency or be very very expensive. Darvish makes a lot of sense, and I am willing to go to about $150 million. Above that it is very dicey. Adding 1 high level pitcher in a win now mode and knowing after 2018 Twins will need to make many more pitching decisions make me feel that this is by far the correct move. If Darvish wants 7/$175 it gets very tricky.
  13. Twins even with their current ballclub should be able to go about 37-20 against the 3 weak teams in the division. A better starting rotation could up that victory total to 40 or 41. That is a huge edge for making the playoffs. Let's get some decent starting pitching.
  14. The window is open, but the Twins still need a rotation piece or two to get to the next level, if not to make the playoffs. It is possible to catch the Indians if we upgrade our rotation to even somewhat like 80% of Cleveland. At 40% we have little chance.
  15. According to MLB Traderumors Nik Turley has been give an 80 game suspension for performance enhancing drugs. Nik Turley is now a Pirate having been claimed from the Twins late last year. Drug in question was Ipamorelin.
  16. Not fixing the rotation is like throwing a year of our window away. You can hope some of the Rochester bound pitchers help and make it, but you might need as many as 3. Moves need to be made here and not for bottom of rotation starters. Rosario is not the player I am worried about for a major regression, maybe minor and maybe he improves. Twins did well against the Central Division the last month, we need to do better against the rest of the league.
  17. Our window is now open, if we have to overpay, hope the attendance goes up to cover it Sign Darvish now or move on. Do not limit yourself until it is too late for all options that are good.
  18. Disagree with this. With Lewis, Gordon, Rooker, Enlow, Baadoo, Javier and others probably reaching the top 150 if not the top 100 and Gonsalves and Romero close the Twins are getting close to as much talent as the truly elite systems. How much of this talent will grow is the issue.
  19. Rooker, Enlow and Baadoo are the three I will be watching closely.
  20. Twins could have a top 5 farm system by midyear. Lots to look forward to this year.
  21. Good move very little downside to this, now let's get another starter.
  22. Count me in the extend him now camp. He will never by cheaper, and if it is $7/140 or even a little more I am OK with it. He is the next face of the franchise, pay the man. It will never be cheaper than now.
  23. I think this was the point of ranking him #8. He will probably be a solid major league regular and while cheap a bargain. That has value to lower market teams. Just bring back the correct pitcher. Would not package him for Cole unless not much else goes, but Archer if you could use him as the biggest piece, otherwise with one of the Twins outfielders.
  24. I just cannot see Joe being here after this year. Sano has to have a place to play, Rooker will be here in 2020 if not 2019. Just do not see where he fits. Disclaimer - if Sano is traded to bring in a front line starter, then there would still be a place for Joe here.
