  1. I would expect the Twins would lose 1-3 relievers this off-season. Too many to protect and they are easy to stash on a major league club
  2. Nice win, Twins need more in KC. Knock them out of the race.
  3. At least in 2018 for those who do not make the Twins, all will be starting at the highest level in the organization and the best will be ready for a promotion if the major league starters fail.
  4. Riverbrian, Anyone who lives in Grand Forks should consider moving. North Dakota rivals are now in different levels. I believe one is division 1 and one is division 2. That would be why they do not play.
  5. If Sano was to leave and go to a bigger city at the end of 6 years, this would look like pinpricks compared to how those fans react and sportswriters write. Press here is Minnesota Nice compared to elsewhere, and Sano would have to get used to more hard core critisism elsewhere. I do not know how the west coast writers are, but Chicago, New York, Boston and the like writers are vicious.
  6. Favoritism is the first thing that comes to mind. Inability to make a tough decision where you older brother is concerned. I would not want that situation. I do not think it would be good for the clubhouse or the team. We shall see, but Jake is considered where I have seen the best of the Twins minor league managers and would rate the promotion once Joe moves on.
  7. Allen will probably be gone whether or not Molitor is retained. Pitching decisions and useage still remain a mystery to Molitor. That is why I feel he should not be retained. Also useage of players and lack of handling the youngsters are an issue here. Mauer will not be the manager until Joe leaves the team, 2019 at the earliest.
  8. To me Molitor's handling of the bullpen is suspect at best. He is better than some, but I feel a lot are better than him. He needs a veteran team to manage and this is not it. Time for him to go.
  9. Problem for Polonco is time. Next year we will have a crowded middle infileld with Escobar, Adrianza, Dozier and Gordon. Something has to give people. Who do we trade, do we have to DFA a player due to lack of playing spots. Twins cannot carry 5 middle infielders, unless Dozier is traded this issue will be here next spring and Polanco is the worst SS defender of the group, So unless you package him up or trade Dozier one of the three shortstops will not be here next year. At the current time, that player could well be Polanco.
  10. Would not add Reed, Slegers, Diaz. I would add Bard. I of course do not get to see the scouting reports. Expect that Palka, Vielma, and Vargas will be removed and I hope Gibson will be. We know what he has and he needs a reboot elsewhere. This could all change with trades now and early in the offseason.
  11. The valuable trade pieces are pitching. Twins do not have it at this time. Now is the time to see what we have. Given that another week will not matter. Twins have about 2 weeks to see if they can become relevant again or to unload other pieces. We also have 4 middle infielders for 3 positions and 5 outfielders for 4 positions. And 2 corner infielders and 2 catchers. That makes 13. Molitor seems to like 13 man pitching staffs. Something has to give in this logjam, my issue is that the odd person out might be Rosario, who would not fit with Molitor's ideas.
  12. Wonder of Kitlzer was unavaliable due to the fact he was part of a heavy trade discussion.
  13. Bullpen and loss are on Molitor, why would you let Rogers face Davis? He is twice the hitter against lefties. I do not care who your closer is, just do the matchups.
  14. Depends on the return. We have a large number of pitchers in AA and AAA who at least need shots to see if they can pitch at this level. Are you going to wait until they are out of options to find out?. If we sweep the A's probably nothing will happen, if we lose a couple, Twins will almost certainly sell. I hope they are able to sell the pieces that bring the highest return.
  15. Problem with selling from areas of weakness is that Twins will need starters next year, so at least be careful with what you do. I would love to see them sell from the bullpen if they get the chance, They have several relievers (Curtiss, Bard, and several others to look at). There is also the idea of moving some spare parts, I would look at moving a SS (Polanco prefered, but also maybe Escobar) because Gordon will be here next year. Agree Garver should be up, but he somewhat duplicates Grossman as an OF option. Take offers on the starters, but only move them if you are belown over by them. Relievers I would move whatever the market will bear, if you can get good prospects, but expect market to be soft as there are a lot of relievers on the market. But this as middle infield are the Twins biggest areas of strength right now so I hope some moves will be made. Garcia and Santiago are gone (FA) at the end of the year. Gibson should be non tendered so Twins will need mulitple starters next year. mlbtraderumors has commented that they feel the Twins should flip to selling as they have some useful pieces. My guess is the weekend in Oakland should tell. Twins need all 3 games. Go Twins.
  16. Good analysis Nick. It could fall apart, but at least it looks like they tried. Will need more moves to get further.
  17. Looks like a good deal to me. Could bite some in 4-5 years, but sometimes you have to sell the base.
  18. Polanco really is the issue here. He may not make the team next year unless you unload Dozier somewhere, so using him as a piece in a trade to me is a very good use of assets. This can be decided over the next week as the Twins could fall out of it and choose to sell.
  19. No, to me he is another AAAA pitcher, good but not able to pitch successfully at the MLB level.
  20. If Twins are taking all the salary, hope the prospect is more of a low ceiling type of guy. Would expect that is what it is.
  21. As of 7:14 this morning mlbtraderumors has reported the deal has not been finalized. May be a medical thing or maybe teams cannot agree on player/players in the deal.
  22. I am hoping it is not one of our AA starters.
  23. I would expect his price would be higher than Hand, Britton might well cost less.
  24. Blylevan was here at 19, with his main pitch a 12 to 6 curve ball. From what I have read, Enlow has that type of curve ball, so if he can spot the fastball and use the curve ball, he would only need the third pitch to be really effective. That type of pitcher could rise quickly.
