  1. None of the above. Everyone with the same surgery as Phil Hughes has not come back well. Until we know more. Pass Sign Darvish or Cobb(think his price is low).
  2. Like the idea, but 2 is a house build on sand. Buxton is essential and I feel you need to make every effort to sign him long term. Sano is also essential, but I feel signing him is at best 50 - 50, so you have to have plan B (I have posted mine in another thread). Like most of the rest of it.
  3. Twins need starting and relief pitching. They also need to explore long term extensions with the young core. Have some disagreements here 1. Do not extend Dozier. Let some other team pay him. 2. Buy Darvish if you can, otherwise Chatwood or Cobb. Do not want Lynn. 3. Nisacio is fine, would rather have another high impact reliever along with him, but can hope the farm can fill these needs. 4. Lock up Sano, if he refuses look for a club with multiple pitchers some very good ones close to major league ready, some lottery tickets with high upsides.
  4. Yes we need to make some trades to the less fortunate teams for a better talent or a major league pitcher. This might be difficult, so the offseason should be interesting.
  5. I saw the mlbtraderumors and think Cobb is light, maybe way light. I also might like Chatwood vs Cobb. Like the idea of Nicasio, but do not know if the Twins will be able to sign him as he might be more light $24 - $27 million for 3 years. Would like the Twins to sign Darvish, but do not think that is likely. I like OB players so would keep Grossman and see if he just wore down from playing as much as he did. My biggest worry is that Sano goes year to year and looks like he is going to leave, what would his value be, can we get multiple front line pitching prospects for him, with a couple of lower level, high risk, high upside types. Would guess Rooker will be here in 2019 so would accept short term solutions like Grossman here this year.
  6. We need the 'Ace'. Cobb could be a fine secondary piece, but this is the year to go large and many of the teams are waiting for next year.
  7. Lot's of you missed my point. His statistics were inflated by pitching in August and September against many clubs not contending for the wild card much less a postseason berth. Gibson will not help us beating good clubs. You may have to keep him, but I would package him and some prospects for a better starter.
  8. This was based on a 2 month production when Twins faced many second division teams. Do not fool yourself, I do not believe Gibson is viable.
  9. I would use him as part of a package with prospects to get a better pitcher or a good prospect from a pitching rich club that needs other holes filled. I trust the front office can handle this.
  10. I agree that May should not be given an automatic pass. I also feel that Gibson should be dealt if possible (do not think that will happen). You can never have too much pitching (if you feel you do bundle and trade for an upgrade to the rotation).
  11. I factor into how close to the majors the player is. Lewis is at least a couple of years away. Talent also plays a part, but I would expect the first three will be with the Twins in 2018 or very early in 2019
  12. Depends, Twins need pitching, have excess of infield prospects/players. Maybe a deal with Tampa Bay for some pitching/prospects. Hope we pick the correct ones.
  13. I would go with this. 1. Gordon 2. Romero 3. Rooker 4. Lewis 5 Baadoo 6. Gonsalves
  14. Bard has too much stuff and is too dangerous to lose. But knowing the Twins we probably will.
  15. One of the interesting takeaways from the divisional championship series was Houston finding the Yankees were a great fastball hitting team, but a horrible curveball hitting team. McCullers was reported to have thrown 24 consecutive curveballs in game 7 to the Yankees. This is what the Twins should be doing.
  16. He is the least likely to sign an extension, and highest upside to get you a front line starter with multiple years of control left.
  17. Depends on who you have to add. Since you have to add at least 6 minor leaguers more trimming needs to be done. Rooker should be able to replace Palka in the pecking order this year. Do not know if Rosario would be claimed if a spot was needed. Will be interested to see who is let go and who is kept.
  18. Do not like any of these options, though if forced to pick one it would be Cobb. A few higher ace types out there and many of the teams who would usually buy one need to get under the luxury tax limit for next year. Go buy and ace.
  19. Sano is the wildcard factor, but I would try and get it done. I would sign Rosario if the dollars made sense. He might not be a superstar, but he could be a very good player. Kepler I would wait a year and see how he turns out. You do not need all three right away (Buxton, Rosario, Kepler). You still have Rooker, Badaoo, Wade and maybe more in the minors. I like the outside the box signing of Escobar for 3 - 4 years at around $7 million a year. It gives you some options. Polanco not mentioned here could be another target, but price would have to be very good. Polanco and Escobar are the reasons I could see letting Dozier walk after next year. Or you could make him a QO if you do not think the other middle infielders are ready yet. Twins revenue should be up next year (could be way up if the Twins content). Let us start planning on it.
  20. Berrios should at least be looked at for an extension. You need to lock up the key pieces to keep your window open a few more years. Yes there is risk, but if you feel it will work out, do it now.
  21. Maybe they ought to use a different voting method. The Golden Glove is probably the most joke award there is. Mauer not included while Dozier is mystifing at best.
  22. How much do you want to gut the farm system. Our midlevel farm system cannot stand that.
  23. Cobb will be closer to 4/64, Lynn will be about 4/80 and Chatwood may be 4/56. Would rather go big, Prior 3 will have big market teams after them as they all want to be under the luxury tax threshold before 2018. Pohlad's have always spent the money when they feel the team has a chance. This team has a chance, but needs to upgrade the pitching staff significantly to succeed.
  24. I agree with you that the Twins should sign a Tier One pitcher, my choice is Davish. Of the rest Chatwood is on my short list, cheaper than some of the rest, though higher than most tier 3 pitchers and you could possibily only pay for 4-5 years (this is doable at his age). Many clubs are trying to get under the luxury tax penalty before 2018 postseason when many great players will be in Free Agency and prices will be very high as the sucessful clubs at resetting the luxury tax clock could be all in on that class. (read Yankees).
  25. Archer > Cole. Both will require a heavy package. Twins would have to gut there farm system to get there or give up some major league talent. Would rather spend dollars than gut the future of a mid market team (if not the future the replacement of the players that do not stay here).
