    Escobar and Magill

Remember Magill faced KC which is one of the worst hitting teams in the league. Call this small sample size.
  2. Odds of the 74th draft pick working out are extremely low. Catching in this draft is supposed to be light, so this could just be depth. Am more concerned that the Twins need a better relief staff and more hitting. Our window is now so this trade is "meh" to me.
  3. Couple of points. 1. If you trade Sano, you are going to have to sign Escobar as Twins do not have a thirdbaseman close to the majors. 2. Message is worse, if you trade your best Latin player, what does that say to the rest of the group. I am hoping to keep most of them long term, this could be a special group, don't mess this up.
  4. If this is the case, put May in the pen and cut Hughes. I know this is painful moneywise, but the division can be taken if we can put on a hot streak. Other side of the coin, if this club continues to not preform, trade everything that is not part of the future in June and July. You have 1 1/2 months to figure this out.
  5. Kepler is playing his way into a long term piece here if he wants to be. I am hoping that is the case.
  6. Ramos may be available by midseason, and maybe the Twins will not be in the race and won't need the upgrade. Waiting is my best option, and if the Twins are still in the race a month from now, maybe the Rays won't be and you can get Ramos for a mid level prospect.
  7. Do not see May in a starting role. Whose place does he take and what do the Twins do when Santana returns. Plus Twins need starters to go 6 - 7 innings Santana and Berrios will give them that at least some of the time. Rest of the staff has more issues getting there though I think Romero will give them 6 most of the time. If May is a starter, seems strange to move Lynn to the pen and cut Hughes. I am assuming Hughes will be cut at some point in time, just do not know when.
  8. You will normally see better offspeed stuff in AAA. Most of these staffs are AAAA type pitchers, but have enough control to expose holes in a swing. Gordon needs to see some of that before I feel he is ready.
  9. I did not think we should have signed Lynn, because his national league stuff usually did not translate well to the American league, but Cobb has been worse and his contract is much worse. If the Twins felt Gordon was ready, he should have been in Rochester, there is a reason the FO sent him back to Chattanooga. We have more than a month before we can trade the players we signed last winter, so will see what happens, but at this time the Twins to me are unwatchable. Twins also continue to not be able to develop or fix pitchers, maybe we need to put out a call through all organizations to find a pitching coach who can do this, and fit his approach to the talent they have, Alston seems to be failing the that respect. I do agree with the poster who would not have signed Molitor to a new contract, there were coaches and mangers out there who were better, Twins just needed to sign one.
  10. Good news is the Twins have parts that should be able to bring back some mid level prospects if this goes entirely south.
  11. Yes it can. Molitor continues to make bad blunders in managing. FO gets cut a little slack (more on the money line, as Pohlad will not foot the bill for an ace). Hope it gets better, another week of this and the season will be over.
  12. I would like to see them bring up Romero, it might be a start. If you are not ready to cut Hughes, move him to the Hale role. Maybe give Bard a look up here, he was not good in LA, but not terrible either, fit right in here. All closers are going to blow some games, it is too early to worry about Rodney. Why was Sano playing third and Morrison first when you have better fielders on the bench. If Twins had their better fielders playing, they might still have won that game. That is on Molitor. I am hoping they lose a few more in a row, and then will have to come to the let's change the manager for the sake of change.
  13. Update. According to the Star Tribune story his contract expired this year and was not renewed. Brent Flahr is the acting GM. Lots of work to do here.
  14. It is many years overdue. I have been on this bandwagon for at least 3 years. Just been a waste of time.
  15. He is on the same schedule as Phil Hughes. Maybe we can just slide him into that spot in Minnesota now.
  16. Lavalle article claims Hughes will be recalled to start Sunday, and the rest of the starters will pitch the 4 game series in NY. I wonder if Hildenburger gets optioned out or Twins cut their Rule 5 draft pick(which would have made this a very bad winter on FO moves for relief pitchers). I guess the big contract means they will have to look and see if Hughes has enough stuff to survive in the majors any more. Still given the Twins margin of error this year, hate to see games lost if Hughes cannot do it. Too few teams trying to win and most of them have decent clubs. Though at this time it looks like at most 8 clubs for the 5 postseason berths. TB, Baltimore, Chicago, Detroit, KC, Texas, and Oakland look like non contenders at this time. And Toronto might be marginal.
  17. I would hope if Hildenburger has an option left the Twins would make that tradeout - for a while at least until Hildenberger gets straightened out.
  18. I am in the wait and see. When he gets to AA, we will all have a better idea if he has a real chance to make it. I understand sometimes younger players need a couple of years. Just way too early to anoint him with the catcher of the future tag.
  19. Let's not forget he also has 3 batting titles as a catcher. Those are 2 more than any other catcher and they count. He still has a very high OBP, so what he is lacking is the HR's. FYI Pizza was not a good catcher.
  20. I could see three years, but anything length longer, please no. Someone will add the 4th and/or the 5th year, do not let is be us. Money would be better spend on front line pitching.
  21. Maybe this is the new way to go. Except for some of the pitchers, Rochester has role players at the major league level and AAAA types. More teams are jumping players from AA to the majors, so to me it is possible the FO wants the major prospects to play against other teams major prospects.
  22. I just do not see more than a three year deal from the Twins. At that point Lewis and Javier are here. Along with Polanco and Gordon. Would like to see Dozier stay, just do not see the numbers and prospects working.
  23. It was also commented on the Twins broadcast when Gibson was wild it was low.
  24. If Gibby can pitch close to that this year, he will have a nice contract this offseason.
