  1. Someone to push Cave would be good, we also have Wade and now Raley. Hope the Twins make a couple of deals to convert some of this talent to the major league level.
  2. Won't he have to be posted or is he in a different class of player or already has his time in. Like the out of box thinking.
  3. I think the money is too low on Cole, my guess is that it will take an AAV of $35 to sign him and could approach $40 if the Yankees get involved in a big way. Harper would be let go in my world and so would Cron. Move Sano to 1B and find a 3B who could field, Twins infield defense was well below average, and we need to fix that to compete. Our pitchers need to have outs made when possible.
  4. Time to go get an ace. Whether it be Cole or Strasburg, I don't get, just get one of the two, QO and resign Oderizzi, resign Pineda if the price is right (he seems to like it here), and then you only have to fill the 5 slot, which can be done with a revolving door or one rookie stepping up. It is hard to tell how good some of Cleveland's pitchers are, given the Central Division is not that good. This season should be a better test.
  5. Twins need a top of rotation piece, rather than mid level pieces. Like Gray and Musgrove as fall back position, if we cannot resign oderizzi and Pineda. Given Kepler's back issue, would not want to trade Rosario until sure Kepler is healthy. Would rather open checkbook and sign either Cole or Strasburg.
  6. The difference between Cole or Strasburg and Wheeler may be $10 million a year. The difference is results, priceless.
  7. My guess 3B Sano SS Polanco 2B Arraez 1B Gonzalez (until Rooker or Kirloff arrives then UT LF Rosario (Would love to get a starter for him, but he is not that valueable) CF Buxton RF Kepler C Garver DH Cruz C FA (maybe Castro or take chance on FA and move Garver to first). UT Arrenzia UT Gordon (if not traded) OF Wade (my choice) or Cave SP Cole or Strassburg (We need to pony up the money to get to the next level, people) Berrios Oderzizzi (if he takes the QO) Pineda Thrope or Dobnick to start Bullpen Rogers May Duffy Littell FA Round trip to Rochester Would like to trade for an #1 or #2 starter, but expect price would be too high so this is my guess.
  8. Time to buy an ace. Either Cole or Strasburg will do. QO Oderizzi, and resign Pineda.(At the right price). Extend Berrios and Buxton, decide what to do with Rosario. Buy a few bullpen pieces and call it a day. Removing Gibson and Perez along with Dyson should free up some money. Maybe we need to get to the $160 million payroll to have a chance.
  9. We have a chance. Still find it hard to believe that some writers think the Yankees starting pitching is better than ours. Twins have to get ahead early and keep hitting. Force the Yankees to decide early how much of their good bullpen they want to use to keep the chance to catch up. Fall behind early and it will be difficult. Go Twins!
  10. I can be either way on Cron, but would like to give Kirloff the chance, since he will almost certainly be here at some point of time this year. Rooker may be al little behind that, but still close. This is why I am willing to trade Rosario to a non contender for one of theie best pitchers and include a couple of flyer options lower in our minor league rankings. Gibson I feel sorry for, but with this club, just cannot take the chance on him. We need 1+ holes in the rotation to see what minor leaguers can step up. One last thought that will not happen, but makes sence. Rosario to Cleveland for one of their starters. Doubt you can get a high end one for him, but Cleveland needs outfielders and this makes a lot of sense. Still have no problems with keeping Rosario for no other reason than Cruz protection. He seemed to come up big when they intentionally walked Cruz in front of him.
  11. QO Oderrizzi, bring back Pineda, sign one other starter, cut ties with Gibson and Perez. Dobnick looks like he might work out, same with Thrope, you have to have places for the younger players. Other choice is to trade Rosario and a couple of the kids for a front line starter, just haven't seen one I like. Add a reliever or two and call it good.
  12. Do you ever hold events in the summer when I am around (somewhat).
  13. Yes and no question. Agree with tacking on a team option for 2021, if Cruz is interested.
  14. According to MLBtraderumors German will not pitch again in 2019, and it is expected that he will get a substansial suspension next year. As noted above it accorded at CC Sabathia's charity event and was witnessed by a member of the commissioner's office
  15. I don't know what caused or kicked up his disease. There are several forms of it and every one is different. I know this, in many forms stress kicks up the disease, it is unfortunate, but time to move on, since their is no cure and do not think with baseball as the profession, that he will ever by healthy for a long stretch of time again.
  16. This could well be a big loss to the Yankees for the playoffs. Be interesting if as a result the Yankees go to 2 starters (Severino and Paxton) and a lot of bullpen. This is still another black eye to baseball, but they are doing a better job of addressing it, than most other sports. Still hope to see this resolved quickly.
  17. Mike, I respect your opinion, but think you are way low on what pitching will command this offseason.
  18. There is risk in every deal. I feel better about this risk (higher upside than some of the rest.
  19. I am more in the 2/24 which I feel is about what he would be offered (and he wants to stay here). Oderizzi for one year is fine and he will probably accept the QO unless another club blows him away with a three year offer (think it will take 3/45+. Too dangerous for me even at that level.
  20. I am in the boat of QO Oderizzi, try and reach a deal with Pineda (he seems to want to return, maybe like 2/24 or 3/36, he could have gotten more before the suspension, so take advantage of this). Then you make a decision on Perez. Dobnak, Smeltzer, Thorpe, and Ober seem to be close, plus 2 - 3 others in the next year or two. Figure on Gaterol being a bullpen piece or a closer, with Rodgers, Dyson (maybe), May, Duffy, and others working in the pen. This should work.
  21. NO! NO! NO! Do you understand this disease, our daughter has it and it is not good. The milder forms can somewhat be controlled. The worse forms are a struggle, stress affects it greatly. I am not a doctor and do not know what form Gibson has, but it is not worth the risk at any price to see it work out. Moving on
  22. Tuesday game will be difficult. Hopefully we will bomba the other two starters and collect 2 - 3 wins here.
  23. Do not see Gibson as being an option for anything. Put back on the IL and cut the cord at the end of the year.
  24. Don't worry about rest now, put the dagger in. Most of these guy have had plenty of rest the last few days. I can see keeping Kepler out and maybe Cruz, but let's bury Cleveland.
