    Good to have him back. Still need one more tough starter or reliever. Out on Odo, (don't need a 3 year deal starter), but either Paxton or Walker on a one year deal for 8 - 10 million is fine for me. Don't see a reliever out there outside of Rosenthal who could move the needle, but feel they need someone on the upper end to help. Relievers tend to be year to year types, so am Ok with one year deals. Just need a better reliever than just another arm.

    Keith Law has Balazovich rated about 20+ spots higher than Duran. I also feel he should be rated higher. Either or both could make contributions here this year, so it will be interesting.

    I think Kiriloff will be the Twins starting left fielder. We are going to have to fight for the division this year, so let's not get behind the 8 ball early.

    I agree with this, but with Polonco, Aarraez, Rooker, Kirloff, Donaldson, and Sano to rotate thru DH not to mention Jefferies or Garver on the days they are not catching Twins have plenty of DH options Spend the money on pitching.

    Like this move as there is no long term commitment, but would like to keep him against Buxton leaving. Either Polance or Arraez could be the utility guy (play 5 - 6) days a week. Saving runs also works.

    I am just ok with this move, if he hits a steep decline, you can just cut ties, if he pitches ok he is worth the $8. Better than tying up $12 million a year for 3 or 4 years and then have the pitcher fall off a cliff. Also, you give you up and coming pitchers a year to see what they have and some of them will be here later this year or early next. But then please add a very good reliever or two. Most of the ones I wanted have already been signed.

    According to Mlbtraderumors the Twins have reached an argeement with J.A. Happ. I feel we need someone better, but need to see the terms before commenting.

    I would consider it, but would want an extension in place. Otherwise two or three top prospects for a 2 year pitcher is a no for me. And top end would probably start with two of the Twins top 5.

    One thing I am wondering is the claim that many pitchers are doctoring the baseball (this is part of the lawsuit by the dismissed visiting clubhouse manager). I have always wondered if part of late 20's, early 30;s revival is from finding a way to hide the doctoring and how many pitchers are doing it. If baseball comes down on this, we may get to see what the true pitchers look like in some cases, though pitch selection and mechanical changes probably also have an effect.

    I am still with Xfinity, package is decent, but somewhat expensive. We will see in the future, AT&T is an option if you carry their cell phone service also, but I can't stand that service. We shall see in a year.

    Great article, a lot of good points. Have seen a game in Cedar Rapids, very good facility. Be nice that the new Twins affiliates are closer, so could see some players earlier at not a great cost.

    Baseball is a business, when you have cheap replacements you use them (and I believe that one of the three (Kirloff, Rooker, Laurach) will be better just maybe not this year. Eddie was not worth 10 million, so this was the end result, doubt he will be claimed.

    According to mlbtraderumors, both Sonny Gray and Brett Snell are being shopped. This may be just a looksee if they can generate an overwhelming offer and then take it. I am more convinced that the Rays may trade Snell then Gray will move from Cincinnati. Stay tuned offseason may be more interesting than expected. My concern is that many teams will cut payroll and if the Twins are not increasing payroll, they could look at 3 - 7 superteams on a 1 - 2 year basis in what is supposed to be our window. Also Astros may trade Correa, also from mlbtraderumors. He is one year away from free agency. Scary

    If Rosario's agent is smart this is the year to take a team friendly offer. There are a lot of players going to be non-tendered, and all offices know what they are getting. Best reason not to is that the White Sox and Indians might be in, but the Indians only if cheap. Difficult position.

    Outside of Walker who might have a bit of an upside, if you do not resign odo, you are looking at a Morton, who will be expensive or maybe a Kluber if you think he has something left in his tank. Not a good position to be in, but you cannot leave two starting spots to rookies or second year players. Dobnick is a great story, but is he an illusion or one year wonder. We have seen a lot of those. Like a lot of others here Bauer would be nice, but doubt they will spend the money for an ace. And if they do, what other choices and holes are created to make the budget work.

    I would try and extend Buxton as the first option. If that is not possible, then you have to look at trading him, and not seeing him go to a big city in two years for maybe a comp pick. What I would want is a front line starting pitcher and then tweeking the deal to make it work. One that is young with upside. Clubs might be Miami, cleveland, and others that might have a surplus of young pitching with two or three with larger upsides. Anything you might do is dangerous, but if Buxton will not sign here, you have to be open about getting a good return for him.

    I am guessing Hand gets to a two year contract (maybe with a option) in the 7 - 8 million a year range. He is a difference maker.

    I would also like the Twins to sign Brad Hand, he is a local boy and maybe would give a slight discount. Also like Walker and would kick tires on Kela (do not know if his clubhouse presence is toxic). All should be possibilities as the Twins should take advantage of the current market to find some players needing to rebuild value or just good(Walker). I would prefer Walker over most of other names here.

    How about Liam Hendricks? I think there is one more, but can't think of the name at this time. Pressely was decision on what he was worth in two years.

    Rosario is as good as gone, as is Gonzales and a few others. I might bring Clippard back, but not Romo. Cave and other possible outfield options will be sent packing. Needs good 4th starter on one year term, and more bullpen pieces. A good share of Tampa's bullpen throws high heat and a second breaking pitch. That should be the Twins model. Would like to see May back, but probably too expensive. Should be a fair number of relievers on the open market as many command excess dollars for small market teams. We shall see.

    I would also like a look at Jake Reed. It seems like our genius FA has missed on a few really good players. I do not claim to know the problem, but some organizations are seeming to get more out of Twins reclamation projects than the Twins (Tampa Bay for one). Command of high velocity, plus a good breaking pitch, seem now to count more than spin rate.

    I would take (within Reason) what I could get for Rosario, even if it was a couple of decent lottery tickets. Can't see with payroll reduction, his number being workable. If you keep him then Cruz is almost certainly gone. We still need starters and cannot see how numbers will work, unless we think the two Twins minor leaguers will be in the rotation (not Smeltzer, and probably not Thorpe).

    Good catch, I noticed it also, high 90's heat and a second pitch, curve, slider , or changeup. Where is the Rat when you need him?

    Not opposed, since I don't see Odo coming back unless you are talking around $5 million and don't think that is going to happen. Again the medicals are going to be interesting.

    A lot depends on the Rosario decision. Can you get anything for him?. For me, too many clubs will cut payroll and think Twins will let Rosario go to offer much. Cruz needs to be brought back unless he wants a two year deal and if the NL has the DH, he will probably get just under $30 million for the 2 years. He likes it here, so maybe he will take a bit less. May will probably get more elsewhere and Romo, Gonzalez, and Adrianzia is also gone. Gordon might be able to handle one UT position, and I would expect the maybe you can get one starter (not Smeltzer) from the minor league rosters. Hill or Odo, might be in play, but expect more that Hill might be the choice. Twins need one more or two more A relievers in FA, and then hope some youngsters make it. Interesting offseason.
