    One question for you, do you see Baldelli being the manager in 2023 or 2024 when the next Twins window will start to open (hopefully)? If not, then maybe this can be turned around with a different voice. All managers/coaches are hired to be fired, at some time the players start tuning the leader out. My look from 50,000 feet is this is starting to happen.

    I think you are all low on what Berrios will command, my guess is he wants in the 20 - 25 range. That is high for me, given what I feel he is worth. Don't know what he could bring back, but some organizations have prospects who are blocked and might be available. Pitching is the key, or middle infield or 3B. We have outfielders for the time being, unless you are including Kepler or the like to bring back better players.

    I think the Twins need a manager with some fire in him. Baldelli has to go. You can't fire the players.

    the white sox have also had significant injury issues, they have survived. Maybe Rocco is too much a player's manager and this ballclub has a fair number of Latin ballplayers and they tend to be a little more fiery. Could be the clubhouse needs a temperament change. Some of it is FO related, where putting together a bullpen seems to have failed this year. But everyone failing at the same time. All I see is the excuses for this happening. You need to have someone take responsibility.

    The biggest thing here is the rule change starting in 2020 with a runner on second in extra innings changed the bullpen dynamics. You now need pitchers in these innings with stuff to strike hitters out. Outside of Acala the Twins do not have that type of pitcher. It was known this is the future, and the FO did not make adjustments for it. That is not Rocco's fault, but player management is. Just remember one thing, you can't fire the players.

    Twins need to fix the bullpen now, Bring up some of the younger players. It can get to be a mental thing with losing late all the time. All that is happening now is the Twins are in a 2 week stretch of playing 2 bad to below average clubs. Beating these teams are not going to move the needle much, except to maybe convince the front office to stand pat a while longer. If this blows up in mid June, we will have lost a month in getting things fixed.

    As you know, this is impossible. What else is needed, for the lower ERA, Whip was it a mirage of ball just hit at people and unsustainable, how many strikeouts did each have, how many of his runners left on scored (bullpen issues), hard hit or exit velocity average. The win-loss means nothing. Also some of it is the strength of the club they are playing for.

    Unless things turn around quickly the rest of this year should be used to see what pitchers we can count on for next year and which pitchers need more time (or may not make it at all).

    That is why Rocco needs to be fired now! You can't be 0 for ever and keep your job. If a worker had his percentage, he would be long gone.

    Gore was just a suggestion. Would want a top prospect (pitching hopefully to trade Buxton), and should be able to get it from a hungry world series contender. One more note, we don't know what a new CBA will look like, and may get nothing if they walk at the end of 2022.

    If you can sign Berrios and or Buxton, you have to do it, and it will hurt. Maybe Jim will have to up the budget or we get closer to Tampa Bay mode and that mode does work. If both Buxton and Berrios cannot be signed and give you no hope they both have to be dealt. If Buxton returns and can hit again, he can bring the pieces. Start with Padres and ask for Gore in a Buxton trade, doubt the Dodgers will pay that much for him, but maybe Toronto will and put a lot of pressure on Boston and the Yankees to get involved. Will have to see when Buxton returns, and how he hits.

    We may still have time, but this is unwatchable. For the record, even if you are retooling, if you cannot extend Berrios or Buxton by early to mid July, this is the point in time where they would have the most value. Buxton will fetch multiple top pieces from a good farm system, think Gore from San Diego. Berrios would certainly fetch good pieces also. You must trade them now if they become sure to leave, my guess in that Buxton is in that class.

    We could DFA a few of these lower end relief types and start bringing up the kids, not getting any better quickly

    Smeltzer to me is an AAAA pitcher, may need to be on a rebuilding club. Thorpe needs to be here or on the shuttle. Because of the 40 man spot, Anderson and Chalmers will probably be looked at first.

    Problem is, unless a lot of their young pitchers turn out to be above average major leaguers, you are still behind. That is like hitting a major lottery ticket.

    Berrios may take more years than you want to give to sign. And between him and Buxton, he might be the more replaceable with the young pitching talent the Twins have coming. Problem is Cleveland's pitching is not going away and Kansas City is coming, Twins are just a pack team unless some of their youngsters hit. I would move the bullpen pieces up quickly and see where we stand, we may not have time to fully assess where the youngsters are before July.

    White Sox are only getting better over the next few years, plus they have more resources they are willing to use. Unless you see the Twins payroll going to $150 - $170 range, change and getting cheaper for the next wave of talent is mandatory. White Sox still lack pitching , so like Cleveland building much better pitching than Chicago is a must.

    I think you have rose colored glasses. White Sox are only getting better over the next 2 - 3 years and maybe for the next 10. Unless you think Berrios or Buxton will sign an extension (not at above market value) they will be gone after 2022. But you need to do this over the next two months as by July you will probably be out of it (especially if you lose the next 6) and have to make the tough decisions. Unless you feel you can survive (if there is a QA, which I doubt will be part of the next CBA), you have to get value for Berrios and Buxton this year. You also need the FO to change their view on players to players like Arreaz and power hitters in that mold and high energy pitching(must for bullpen). If they will not change, they must be fired. This is already a total system failure, why make it worse.

    Of this list I would expect that Kepler will be gone and Sano will be a bench player, gone or released. Outfield will be Arreaz, New to the system, Laurich 1b will be Kiriloff, 2B polonco, ss Simmons (if resigned), 3B Donaldson C Jeffers. View should be on finding more pitching in these deals.

    I am also predicting that unless they sign extensions, both Buxton and Berrios will be moved. They will be gone for little of less (depending on the new CBA) after 2022.

    Some of the problem is location. Some of it is lack of stuff (heat). You cannot fix this overnight, and it is a front office issue. They don't have much time to fix this or we are looking at the short window and a rebuild (again).
