  1. Ok, lets see, 7 spot (usually Rooker or Cave or Sano), 8 spot Jeffers or other catcher outside of Garver, 9 spot Simmons. Question did any of these players have an OBP greater than .300? Unlikey Buxton saw many players on base.
  2. Don't like alot of Rocco's decisions. Hard to evaluate when 2020 was a lost year, and Twins needed their young pitching to develop. We are now a year or two away from seeing the fruits of the pitching coming. Hope it is good or it will all be a waste. Would give Rocco a D+ and feel the best thing this team can do is show him the door and put Rowson in as manager. He seems to connect at least with the hitters. Only defense is the lack of a bench coach exposed issues that had been covered.
  3. You seem to forget he is hitting at the top of the order, the last 3 hitters in the twins lineup have been bad this year, so his chances have not been as great as you would believe.
  4. First of all, St. Paul should have a great pitching staff to start next year, as I don't see the Twins bringing any of the prospects to Minneapolis to start the year, Position players are not hard. 3 catchers if you do not trade Garver, Sano and Kirlloff at 1B (also Kirloff in the outfield), Polonco at 2B, or SS. Gordon, Miranda, arraez and Donaldson (if not traded) at SS and 3B. Lewis on the 40 man, but not in consideration to start, Palacios I might add as SS depth. Buxton, Kepler, Rooker, Laurach (will probably expect him to start in St. Paul), Celastino and maybe a free agent depth outfielder, that gets me to 18 which is what I expect to have. Only thing that would change if I were bowled over by an offer for Buxton or Polonco for what I felt was a pitcher with a #2 floor and other prospects. You win with pitching. Cleveland has been competitive with their good pitching (even without much hitting).
  5. I can see keeping Rooker, since he still has options if not traded. Buxton seems to be OK with long term, let's get it done. Pohlads have always stepped up for long term face of franchise assets, that is how I view Buxton. If we sign Buxton, can see Kepler and Garver packaged for pitching. Too many holes to fill there. Gordon and Arraez and fine for utility players and should be kept and see plenty of AB's. Cave should be gone. Can see starting Kirlloff in left field and give Laurach some more AAA time until ready. He was rushed this year. If you don't resign Buxton this list is going to look a lot different.
  6. There are other players stated about like Cave and the Turtle, I would move on from first, plus a lot of the injured 40 man roster people Garlick, Refsynder, and other marginal players on the 40 man. He does have an option, which has value, but a trade after the rule 5 draft for pitching is probably the best we can hope for (As a minor part of a package for a mid-level starter.
  7. Jeffers is my chief bounce back player. He still can greatly improve. Kepler as noted above is an issue here, don't have a solution at this time, but cannot make one until Buxton is extended (hopefully not traded).
  8. I agree with most of the above. Issue is what will it cost, we may have better options here. I also don't think Kepler will bring much. Garver might, but will it be worth it. We shall see.
  9. The question is not the strike zone, but many of the calls were inconsistent in one direction.
  10. Was surprised by Arraez. Twins will need a shortstop, and maybe depending on how they feel, move on from Donaldson and move Sano to DH. Buxton is the other factor to extend or trade. A lot to be determined here, but the Twins if Buxton stays and they have an average SS, rate to have at least an average defense next year.
  11. Law, Coulombe and Farrell probably do not have a future here. Jury is out on Minaya and Thielbar. They will have some holes to fill, but a lot of relievers are lighting it up in St. Paul and Wichita. Still you will need to look at a lot of them next year.
  12. Does Minaya have a future here. Some pitchers just develop later than others and he seem to be doing quite well. Or is it just SSS?
  13. pitching seems to be hit and miss these days. Coming off a year with no games at this time probably to be expected.
  14. Not quite, if there is a floor (possible, not certain), the injury would reduce Maeda's number to $3 million. Twins would need to extend Buxton and sign a couple of more players to get anywhere near $100 payroll. Donaldson would be the only player over $10 million and most of the rest are on long term (Sano, Kepler, Polonco) or not even to arbitration yet.
  15. Would be nice to know, where these teams stand for playoff positions. A couple of them may or may not make it and would make more sense of the transactions if we knew.
  16. Saints will probably make the AAA playoffs. Miranda will stay there until that run if over (may be about the same time the twins are done). This winter they have many roster decisions to make. Expect a lot of the part timers who do not have an upside to be gone. Cave for sure and probably Rooker.
  17. I agree on Smeltzer, Dobnak will be given the leash because of his contract and the Twins may need starters next year. Rest I am ok with.
  18. Is Ryan going to pitch for the Saints this week or is he going straight to the Twins?
  19. I agree on Thrope and Rooker, and feel much the same way about Barnes. We need to add a lot of players this winter, so many of these players (maybe up to 10) will be let go after the season. We already have 2 Pineda and Simmons and some others, though the jury it out on the newbies (E Garza, Minaya, etx.)
  20. Exciting, Twins in my mind are back to having a top 5 farm system, while still having decent position players in the majors. Offseason should be tough as 40 man decisions, plus moving some players to make room with the big club will keep things interesting.
  21. I love Arraez, you just have to find a position for him to play. Maybe the solution is to trade Donaldson in the offseason (assuming you can resign Buxton) to break the logjam. Don't think the young players have enough value to bring back anything good at the major league level.
  22. It's bad when it is better to read the minor league report than listen or watch the major league club.
  23. Palacios has played well since rejoining the Twins orgainization. Whether or not it will be enough to make the 40 man is to be seen.
  24. The above being said, Perry getting here in 2023 or 2024 would be awesome.
  25. I also think Cavaco is too high, more on the prove it basis, same as Perry. Both should be in the 11 - 15 range, though both could move up quickly in 2022. I am getting to be a little more in ranking prospects factored by how close to the majors are they preforming well. Many of them will flame out in AAA or the majors, but doing well in AAA or AA really helps.
