  1. Very true but we don’t talk about the failures much as they slide away without mention. Like that kid that got in a bar fight, the lefty that beat cancer, the aussie that was homesick…. We have plenty of failures and always will. The pipeline is pumping full blast tho.
  2. They are milking the DL list because they have young options. MRI will be clear on 8/27 and the Sheriff will ramp up for 3 weeks and bring his guns to the show for October. Our FO has a plan.
  3. Barring injury, this will be 3 years straight. Consistency at C is having a great impact on our young pitching staff and both of these guys (Combined) is legendary. When it becomes a reality just over 12 months from now, we will celebrate. History will not repeat this tandem for a long time. Get used to it. We are only 60% there.
  4. Does it really matter which is #1 or #4? SWR has clearly had the best growth year by pitching 100 MLB innings. Festa has lights out, make batters look silly type stuff. Matthews is the raging bull and has Ober type #1.5 SP in his future. Varland and his heater can certainly be a mid rotation guy but at some point, (every Sept?) will he go to the pen to be the 6/7inning stopper. It sure seems logical. Everyone of these young guns is why Falvine were hired. They all have LOTS of development left to discover and they all have 7-10 years of MLB careers ahead of them. Hopefully all as Twins!!! They will not be traded because you can’t give this type of stuff up and upgrade to what? The next group, Morris, Lewis, Culpepper, Raya and Preillip are going to be knocking doors down in ‘25 &’26! Right on their heals is Soto, Dasan Hill, Tanner Hall, the Kid in the Dominican and probably 2 other kids that find the Falvine magic. I probably left out a guy or two so my apologies in advance! Until these guys start failing, other teams will be calling with a shopping list of who they want, the sign on the store front should read,… “Not for Sale without Large Overpayment .”
  5. Get Festa some early runs and chase evoldi tonight !!! Nice to See Duran back up at 101+ Anyone heard if C4 is coming off the shelf this weekend?
  6. Castro must have read this thread because it didn’t age well at all.
  7. Varland and Festa sent down today. Henriquez up for 2 games and then festa back up to pitch saturday?
  8. Thats how I meant it. He was never a great hitter but everything else was rock solid. I especially loved the way he played defense.
  9. The FO definitely has a bat first focus. Plenty of guys have the ability to be gold glove but it takes focus. I still see Noah Miller being a greg gagne type if/when he gets his shot. Culpepper and Jenkins may come with defensive chops but so far, there has been a lack of defense development/focus.
  10. and someone better account for K. Culpepper in ‘26! He could be the real deal.
  11. Lewis is going to have a few defensive homes in his career. Has anyone else noticed that he has added weight and muscle mass to his core? He isnt lanky anymore. Eventually he will probably move to 1B and when he is still hitting HR’s every other AB, he will become a DH at 41 years old.
  12. Oh boy, you got some guys worked up. You can wish in one hand…. That old saying that Slim always says while doing shots….
  13. In 2023, Texas and AZ had a great mix of vets and youth. Without their reliance on kids, neither team would have been in the WS. AZ is about where we are this year, fighting for a spot somewhere in the post season, Texas probably won’t be there and they have been selling farm assets. It sounds like the Astros out bid us at the deadline for Kikuchi on a classic overpay by Houston. Our ‘24 season and the future is better if we don’t overpay. Trust the youngsters!
  14. These kids have talent, skills and the drive to all be #2,3 or 4 SP for 5-8 years. The only thing that is gonna be scary going forward is the success they have a chance to achieve. Scary good success. They have 2 great catchers to throw to even next year. The rest of ‘24 is going to be remembered for the young guns that stepped up into the Twins rotation. There is some exciting baseball on the way!! 2025 will start with talk of sophomore jinx and who is coming behind them. A whole 2nd wave will be coming to the saints. Lopez, Ober, Ryan, Paddack, SWR, Festa, Matthews, Varland will all want to be in the top 5 SP in ‘25 and we will have 3-4 more knocking on the uber door. WOW 🤩
  15. Andrew Bryzgornia wrote an article published 7/6/2016 in SBNATION about the systematic failures in the Twins Organization. It has aged well. People on this site should go back and study how bad things were. Mauer played with a lot of sub average team mates and its sad that he had to. Experts on this site claim you can’t hit on every prospect or trade which is true but to fail at 99% of every player transaction for year after year is not normal. A lot of posters on here still think that is normal. I do criticize Falvey when its due. His team has made some horrible draft picks and trades but he has also made far more brilliant picks and trades. Some posters on this site are shortsighted when it comes to the health of the whole Twins organization. Its easily in the top 10 in MLB and getting stronger. Drafting players is done with a purpose, not just to fill a hole in the minors and hope a kid finds the light. The Falvey pipeline and the future drafts/signings and trades will continue to build the talent pool because its all highend. Not 100% but its not the garbage normal that was sold to us decades ago. Its taken too many years to get to this point but hey, here we are. Ride the wave after wave of young talent cause its gonna keep coming.
  16. I can’t imagine Matthews getting sent down until he has a couple bad games or Ryan/Paddack come back. It would also have to be a Varland resurgence as a starter but I bet he will be going to the bullpen in a week or two. Paddack may be joining him in the pen.
  17. Baldelli wrecked my quality start prediction 😑
  18. It makes sense to option Winder. If Varland has a bad day, we will need Matthews in 5 days to get another quality 5-6 innings.
  19. My money is on Matthews throwing a gem of a quality start and he begins his MLB career. 1-0. 🤞🏻 Good luck 🍀 kid!!
  20. 5 pitch mix and pounds the strikezone. Speed/location and movement all change. Off balance hitters is exactly why he is successful.
  21. Not much as his mri came back clean today. He just is day to day with a penchant for hanging out with medical staff.
  22. Prato, because they should have drafted a pitcher in the 7th rd. Prato was a wasted pick. Cavaco, and Sabato… because any other draftee which a blind, deaf and dumb guy could have done better picking. There is a reason why our farm system and draft has improved in the last few years and luck is just a part of it. Doing skillful research and development is most of the success.
