  1. Not sure Kiriloff will be back and better than ever as he now has been shelved for two straight seasons with a weak wrist. The wrist could be very troubling issue moving forward in his career. So let's say it is now Wallner fighting for RF with Kepler and Larnach getting the LF job. Buxton plays CF 60% of the season we hope, and then that leaves Gordon as the other OF. Do we think that is a solid OF? If Kiriloff is healthy, then he is our 1st baseman and Miranda shifts to 3rd? Spring should be fun to see where this plays out.
  2. Nothing against Celestino but when he starts the most games in CF is not something we should be writing about.
  3. The plate is set for the Twins to do damage vs Cleveland and Chicago. Can the twins play .800 ball this month to win the division? Definitely possible. The Yankees aren't the cream of the crop these days as their shine of being the best in the AL has warn off a bit, not much but a bit. 7 vs Cleveland, 9 vs Sox, 6 vs Royals, lowly series vs Tigers and Angels and 4 vs the Yanks. Would like to see 11-5 or 12-4 vs Cleveland/Sox combines, 5-6 vs the Royals, take 2 out of 3 vs anyone not Yankees. Playing Yankees you need at least 1 win in their series, 2-2 vs them would be a bonus. 20 wins without beating the Yankees at all, is it enough?
  4. While Arraez is clearly the best contact hitter on the team and I like what he does with the bat, the situational baseball for the team in general isn't there at all. Hit behind the run, move a runner over, bunt the ball to do as such is lacking from Mgmt down to the players. While Arraez hitting a gapper to score 2 is possible in the ninth, the fact that we didn't attempt once to move the guys up a base is the wrong call. Force the Red Sox to defend the bunt and you never know what could happen. As soon as he made the out, 1st thought was here comes the double play ball. Moran ate innings and pitched well minus giving up the one run, sure gave the bullpen desired rest they needed. Sweep the Sox in Chicago is mandatory to stay in the race. The boys need to set the tone for September and apply more pressure the Indians.
  5. I'm a fan of Archer and Bundy being the piggyback to get us through the rest of the year if Winder is healthy to be the starter moving forward. Archer is consistent with 4 innings per start and then we hold our breath when he comes back out for the 5th which is a rare sighting. Gordon deserves to be on the field for sure in a full time role vs a bench spot. Kepler could be odd man out in the OF next year depending on Larnach and where Kiriloff's set position is.
  6. Watched the game on MLB TV and the Houston Broadcasters were siding with the Rocco on how absurd the ejection was. They didn't know he was charged with a mound visit till after the commercial break the next half inning to be shown the replay. Only reason they gave was that he walked onto the mound versus staying in the grass infield part. Right, wrong on indifferent, coaches, players, someone should have seen the gesture of the home plate umpire. Don't even get me started on such a cry baby Altuve was mouthing off on a cut fastball just off the plate.
  7. This team has never been a situational hitting team, rare sighting was a Jeffers bunt rbi and maybe Leon following suit. Since it is so rare you would think I could track them, but I don't watch all the games. Best money not spent on MLB package this year. Buxton with way too many rest days and still "playing injured" all the time. History of his ailments every year are catching up to him once again. Correa experiment while nice on paper, was not a great $34MM spend for this year. He bet on himself with the deal and will be highly surprised to see any team give him 7 to 10 years of retirement money. Not say a team won't do it, but he is no Aaron Judge who bet on himself. Pretty telling that Leon gets more at bats than Sanchez behind the dish since his acquisition. Sanchez appears to not really want to be behind the plate as he would actually have to work a full 9 innings vs DH for 3 or 4 at bats. Jeffers playing with a broken bone in hand for almost 2 weeks is gritty and hell he was playing well during that stretch tells me more about the catcher position the Sanchez's mouth of they traded for me to be the guy. More like we traded Donaldson away and you were a Yankee piece they were glad to get rid of. Beckham and Cave, nice story but not MiLB material only. Gordon, steady as a rock and has played really well filling outfield holes. Glad for him. Tough sledding ahead, GO TWINS
  8. An above average power but high average/contact and once in awhile HR capable hitter. Old School Baseball Player vs todays swing and miss or hit bombs players. He is mastering the hitting craft which is beautiful to watch vs guys swinging out the shoes to pull everything over a fence. Give me more of Arraez hitting style on a team and that will be enjoyable baseball.
  9. Needs: Starting Rotation (2) guys. 4 inning Archer doesn't help and Bundy just isn't worth the money he would get. Relief Pitchers (2) guys. Do we have AAA guys that fit that bill or make a splash with a FA? Don't know. Correa should opt back in for year 2 of his (3) one year deals. Hitting less than .270 with multiple days off this year won't get him a big payday. He bet on himself but Judge bet and will win, Correa not so much Catcher paired with Jeffers is a help. I don't think they spend big money on Contreras though
  10. Losses and blown saves with majority of them vs Cleveland. Can always play the what if game and without those we would have at least 4,5,6 game lead at moment. Now the what if is any situation he comes in is high leverage because we have no idea which "if" version toes the rubber. Should be DFA'd no questions asked
  11. Kyle Garlick key contributor, not really. the old adage of one game at a time. Don't like to say it but can't win two in a row if you can't win the next (1st) one. They need a strong 8-2, 9-1 week to get back into the mix. When I look at the rotation, sadly I don't see that type of week with this staff. Go Twins
  12. bullpen setup for Sunday isn't ideal. That's pretty much what we will get with Bundy and Archer on back to back days. Blow through 5 BP arms each night asking them to go one inning each. More reason would have liked to get another starter and have Archer in rotation and Bundy the long relief on the days Archer pitches. Get another starter and pick your poison and release Bundy or Archer. Bullpen killer when these guys start back to back games. Go Twins
  13. Rocco talking about Pagan getting low leverage situations after his horrendous showing vs the Guardians was admirable but then you throw him in a 1-0 game in the 6th. If low leverage means the inning you use him, then Rocco only got that part right. 1-0 lead isn't low leverage and Pagan did his thing by getting nailed when he needed to be the hammer. Yes offense blows and the top of lineup sure hasn't lead the team when someone of them are suppose to be leaders. Buxton must feel sorry for Sano, because he sure has ben Sano-esque. On to the next one hoping for different results once again. Can Twins ever win two in a row?
  14. 19 blown saves is pretty telling comment. Imagine if you save half of the blown ones, your divisional lead is in the 8-9 game neighborhood. Now if we were in that position, our trade deadline would have looked different for sure. Not sure FO makes the moves to improve the pen. One outing and I like it. Biggest payoff is yet to be seen
  15. Would be nice to see the front office own a mistake and do what is right. Learn from your mistakes vs hiding from them and front office should do the same. Pagan is a nervous option for all fans everytime he jogs onto the field.
  16. the comment about him still getting stretched out makes me laugh. Dude has pitched 5 complete innings only 3 times. He is at best a long reliever. Combine Bundy and him as guys who should be pitch on the same day and you may only have to use 1 or 2 bullpen guys to finish the game. But knowing you have to burn 5 guys when Archer pitches is blowing up a fragile bullpen already. At least next year, those two guys won't be Twins
  17. Urshela not a 2nd stringer but Sanchez is 2nd string but has to be play 1st string role because all the guys being hurt has forced him to play everyday. He is quite brutal at the plate. Had one season hitting over .270 and that was what 4 years ago. Career low .200's hitter at best and we see why Yankees were easily getting ridding of this guy
  18. So batting .210 with 25 HRs, 45 RBI's and 170 K's... trade away my provisional friend, trade away.... tongue and cheek sarcasm
  19. Archer is just plain brutal when you have to take into account you have to tax your bullpen everytime he gets the start. He is 2-5 on the year and will most likely may get one win rest of the year. Pretty easy to say that because he has only pitched thru 5.0 innings three times all year in 17 starts. Three Times! The front office basically promising him a starters bonus won't move his spot to the bullpen. He averages 4.0 innings a game. Perfect spot for him to be long relief when Bundy is the starter. Time to move on from the Bundy/Archer experiment and thank them for their service along with Pagan. Move them by Tuesday, don't care how they leave
  20. Or the new thread of " I can't believe we didn't trade Correa" as such and such a team would have been a good fit. Never-ending.
  21. Miranda deserves at bats no matter what. Sano, one game back and nothing has changed. Telling that he was 9th in lineup, mentally takes the pressure off of swinging in middle of the order but my goodness, they need him to do something to get value in next couple of days. Handful of pitchers that I don't trust at all, way too many pieces to fix at trade deadline. They will limp along and miss the playoffs as I don't see 2 SP and 3-4 RP coming via trade to salvage a winnable division. Front Office won't be all in for this year, so not much changes 6 days from now
  22. Roster is in flux. Sano, don 't trust him whatsoever at the moment, regardless of what he did at AAA. Kepler is the key with pinky bone contusion on right foot. Last time we heard bone contusion was Jeffers with actually a broken bone in his thumb. So if Kepler is out for a period of games, then Kiriloff goes to outfield and Sano gets his chance to swing for the fences for his career at 1B. Buxton is out for a few more days, then OF is AAA quality at best. Next couple days is key to see how Rocco can manage walking wounded
  23. Garlic being fantastic vs lefties is a bit of a stretch. Hard groundball for an error. He has what maybe 1 at bat in last 10 games? sarcasm yes, but not sure he stays on roster at this point when Sano gets activated. Celestino most likely done, but Garlick is my first option, doesn't play
  24. Let's say you lose next 5-6 games and are in 3rd place, trade would make sense if you can get high end quality in return and focus on '23
  25. Give it a rest, he has played 36 games at 1b with 2 errors in 243 chances with 8 assists. I guess that is little league to you, but he is solid. All the other numbers you throw at it are based on 1,200 innings. He has 255 innings.
