    Royce is hitting well at the moment, reminds of the one month heater he was on years ago. Can he sustain any consistency for rest of the year, then we may have something long term. Everyone wants him to be new face, hero moment guy, not buying the hype yet. Ride the heater he is on and see if the can 24 more wins and see where that puts them in pecking order. games remaining: 1 brewers, 3 orioles, 3 Phillies, 3 padres, 3 a’s, 3 home & 3 away White Sox, 3 home & 3 away tigers, 3 Guardians, 3 Yankees, 4 Angels, 3 Giants and last 3 vs Rangers. Where can we score 24 wins to make playoffs potentially? Not 82 2ins division or gets you in at all. Need a winning August

    ROY award is nice and I’m sure 1 extra pick after round one is a bonus, which means your draft $ pool doesn’t change? If the incentive is just a draft pick and no increase in pool dollars, not sure it is worth it. service time manipulation stinks by owners. I could see that being a sticking point in all cba talks as players wanting more control of their timeline.

    So I read the rules/stipulations and they say PPI program allows up to but can’t exceed 60 days of MLB service time. Then below that statement it says rookies aren’t considered rookies after 45 days. Not sure what the timing baseline is.

    By attempting the out at first base, they in turn forfeit the force play at second. Just like a first baseman steps on back for ball in play out, the runner to second has to be tagged out. Either way, gift by the royals but not executing on their end

    Move gray, Martin to AAA. Hell DFA Gray. We have redundancy with Martin & Keaschall, so Martin hasn’t played well in a couple months and Keaschall is your OF who isn’t really and OF. Clemens is core utility guy. If you don’t want a rookie, bring up Wallner for OF. He is in purgatory hell at moment. ‘Work the phones after you DFA Jackson when Buxton is ready which may not be for awhile and see if you can get something for nothing. No serious team chasing playoffs uses 3 catchers on 26 man.

    Salary cap is one thing, but salary floor is wishful thinking. So we get a floor, which will help the players, but who is paying that bill? Won’t be management alone. Here come the annual but higher increases to ticket prices, concessions, parking, etc. Players don’t want the cap, might want a floor, but they aren’t paying for the brunt of that increase. Winning teams fighting for championships year in have fan bases that will absorb some cost increases, most other teams, markets won’t. Live stream this game, subscribe to 5 different services to watch this sport is getting old. Pricing out the fans will continue, I may be one of them at some point.

    One trade deadline under his belt is fine for starters, but not that exciting. Team is still dependent on long ball to score, defensively not sound and roster construction/moves questionable. A competitive team to win in a very weak division doesn’t carry a Roden, Gray on the 26 man yet alone playing them. Three catchers? Lose Buxton multiple times this year and you don’t call up a true outfielder. Some people use the phrase multi-position guys as the answer. I look at that as multiple positions because they really aren’t good at one position. Didn’t address the abundant lefty OF’s in the organization with this trade deadline and you have some decisions to make in off season that being bold won’t be the definition of activity. It was nice not blowing up the roster on the 26 man roster at deadline, still feel like if they have a clunker next few weeks of games,, getting some return on assets was lost opportunity.

    PR while it can fluctuate, bottom line is winning ballgames. If we blow chunks in August and September is meaningless, which is a very strong possibility, your PR nightmare is we didn’t do enough at deadline for the future. Don’t sell your souls with top prospects, but don’t toot the horn we are buyers with trades we have done so far.

    3 of their top 5 prospects from Sox, total,of 4 guys going to O’s plus an additional,player to be named later. He isn’t a Free Agent till after ‘27 season. Extra year of control is huge factor that Jeffers value doesn’t have. Adley is hurt and might not play till mid-August

    O’s trade Rutschman to Red Sox. AL teams needing catchers is down to Yankees as Rays got Hicks from Marlins. Yankees looking they will get Catcher from Reds

    You have to sell to buy, the buy has to be meaningful. I don’t believe the twins buys are meaningful enough. Guardians can see what Twins have done and haven’t had to push anything outrageous yet. Mariners are doing something meaningful in my opinion. They have the right balance. O’s and Red Sox might be doing something meaningful with Adley, so that is interesting as well. PR hit for doing c grade trades is ownership telling we are buyers. Nit good enough. Offense is heavy home run ball related, no balance. Gray on team isn’t showing urgency to improve.

    So we can classify the twins as buyers if this is what they do? Penny pinching trade deadline day version 2026. I don’t disagree with you, it could be just more hollow words from mgmt. my thought on Jeffers since everyone wants the QO pick when turning down offer post season, is we get what a 2nd or 3rd round comp pick? So wait, 4-6 years on that pick to mature into a potential big leaguer, or potentially get one maybe two either ready for bigs or almost ready guys via a trade. This team was 3 big swings away from a having a winless week vs Royals and M’s. Not primed for post season baseball.

    0-2 in August. 25 more games to go this month… Royals, Brewers (away). Orioles, Phillies, braves (home). Padres, athletics (away)and then last day of month start series with tigers. Hard pressed to see them getting maybe 10 wins this month. Offense has so many holes in it, can’t score without homeruns, not sustainable. Buyers for twins mindset but let’s see what they buy, not impressed yet

    He doesn’t come across as all about money, but I don’t know him in depth. He is a competitor, been an underdog but will bet on himself. Twins competitive window, championship window is a couple years out I think he wants that opportunity to be chasing titles. Do the twins give him that long term opportunity?

    I chuckle with resigning Jeffers, extension, etc… He is positioning himself for FA and as a Boras client, he will test the waters. Pile on two more wins and see what other teams do w/l wise and Monday could be very quiet or explosive. Twins being buyers with small moves will be mgmt telling us we told you we would be buyers. Quality of trades hasn’t excited me yet when roden/grays are on active 26 man. Lineup has holes that aren’t being addressed and that will bite us in the end. Tough August schedule lies ahead

    Buxton is an all-star for sure but not sure you can labeling him the MVP of the team this year. Has played in 9 games since the start of July with really no meaningful moments that I can remember in this month, (now I’m old so memory may not be the best). Team is 38-40 this year when in lineup and 17-15 without. He may not be ready till mid-late August which isn’t ideal for chase to get above .500 and have meaningful games the rest of the year. Just feels like another mismanagement of guys going on IL timely to address issue, he hasn’t been right since mid to late June.

    Avg less than 90 games a year at this moment from what I can tell. Your back up CF options better bring their best as his hip will linger for rest of year. Front office says we are buyers, have to sell something to buy, sure wish Jenkins or even Wallner was called up before Gray. Buyers mentality means you don’t reinstate Gray

    Lewis getting back to all-star material, what season did I miss where he was an All-Star. He had one great month doesn’t make you an all-star level player. My goodness for the Lewis hype train.. Good swing last night but he is “I don’t slump” away from being under Mendoza line. Change of scenery might be reall good for him and Twins getting another rotation piece. It will take more than Lewis to get that done

    When writing an article, how hard is it to look up the correct stat line? As for trading caratini, nice thought but if Jeffers doesn’t come back, Jackson and who else is catching next year? Please don’t say Lackey as he won’t be ready till ‘28 at the earliest unless you want growing pains right away
