Roster construction is awful and has been since off season acquisitions. 40 man you have 6 LH outfielders to 4 RH guys. Outman is on 26 (LH) man for what reason have no idea. Larnach, wallner make up the other 2 in outfield. They missed opportunity to bring up Culpepper to generate a buzz, but played it safe with career .140 swinger at the plate, Kreidler. The illusion of a 1st place team with what we have, is just that an illusion. move outman and Clemens (even Wagaman) off 40 man if needed. Royce who I’m not sold on at all comes back, move Kreidler back down. Bring up Fedko and send Wallner down to figure it out, if that is even possible. Bring Culpepper up to play short, platoon Lee at 3rd with Royce and Lee when Culpepper needs a break. Culpepper and Lee can platoon at 2nd when Keaschall needs one Just give us something to get excited about is an easy ask but mgmt won’t do it.

Throw culpepper into the fire. Drop the dead weight of veterans that aren’t the future. Move Lee to third and generate some excitement with fan base with culpepper getting extended run. Detroit, pirates have bitten the bullet with McGonigle and Griffin. This type of move should be made but won’t be by twins.

Live in Pittsburgh and look what pirates are at least trying to do. Call up griffin and sign him to a long term deal. Tickets prices for home opener because of interest in the club with some good off season movement, trades, FA, etc went up 3x the prices last week before the news. Yes win “now” has fans excited at the moment and coming to the ballpark, good balance of youth sprinkled in with veterans and at least city believes the mgmt rhetoric they are spewing. Twins on other hand spend bad money on veterans, ignore the youth that that the fan base has interest in, will labor to win 65 games and sell off guys again in July. pirate will take their lumps more times then not, but at least the learning curve with young pitching staff and some you guys in the field feels more exciting than Twins dumpster buys last couple of years

Ranking the Minnesota Twins Uniforms for 2026
umterp23 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Uniforms across the board are fine for me, so no ranking changes needed. I don’t care what they wear as long as they can win some gains. So many wins might not be in play, so maybe I will have to care more on the look. I like the red top, city connect I lean towards liking, my favorite though is the cream look. That reminds me old school historical baseball -
“In” on Valdez and Peralta is like me saying I’m in on winning the power ball. Spend money to make money and I decided no investment on the power ball. I was in though. I don’t see where mgmt has really done anything more than lip service about building around the core…some dumpster pickups doesn’t really mean investing or building the core. None of the 3 excite me

Not only Jeffers when he gets moved, but play poorly as a team and we very well lose Buxton, Ryan and Lopez. There isn’t a clear vision of competing with those four this year and next 2-3 years. yes Buxton has a no trade, but he will want a chance to compete for a championship so he will look to go to a select spot he wants. Lopez and Ryan aren’t signing long term. As much as we want them to be here, same rational with Buxton twins mgmt slammed the door shut after playoff series win a few years back and blew up the roster last summer. Long season ahead

Twins Lock In Ryan Jeffers Ahead of Arbitration Deadline
umterp23 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
Phillies now courting Bichette which could create some tension with Realmuto. Good friend who lives in Phillies land said 80% of a fan poll are ready to move on from catcher who thinks he is worth more than Phillies offered. If they snag bichette, then realmuto wont have a home with Phillies being over $304MM luxury tax which would kick in. Phillies land Bichette then Stott at 2nd base would most likely get traded. Stott’s arbritration number was settled yesterday at $5.9MM. Pretty reasonable number for them. If the move Bohm ($10.2MM) then stott could move to 3rd. Phillies will have to move some money and bodies to add Bichette. Could twins make a move with Jeffers, get Stott in return, gain $800K and jettison some deadweight in Julien and/or Clemens? Keaschall can move to 1st? Need a primary catcher still, but some bargain bodies falvey will find to build around his stated 3 core players. Jeffers isn’t going to sign long term with a team in such flux in my opinion. Players want to be fighting for championships and not 70 wins -
Only thing this move did now was give falvey a talking point that we are investing around the core. One could argue was this an investment? It was money spent which isn’t necessarily an investment

Definitely agree with that statement. Why would Jeffers sign an extension after the blowup, at deadline, no real competitive window now and most likely more deadline sale this coming season. I’m sure I wouldn’t be signing anything now if I was him regardless of who my agent is. Guys want opportunities to win championships, don’t see that window for twins currently. I’d like for him to stay but last summer selling 10 guys off has to hurt your belief in being competitive

Switch hitting power hitter. Last year vs lefties his avg was .151 with 4 HR’s. Last three years hit 22, 19 and 22 hr total ( vs lefties, 4, 6, 8 over same period -‘25, ‘24, ‘23). Power hitter that avg 19 hrs a year, is that the new metric for power? He is more DH than 1st basemen. But hey, we can say we spent money now in off season via FA. Not great spend though

Same Offseason, Different Winter for the Twins
umterp23 replied to Parker Hageman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So we hear words about building around the core, what if the core is actually the youth core? Lewis, keaschall, Lee, Jenkins, etc and not presumed Buxton, Ryan, Lopez and Jeffers? Would we be happy with it? I would as you aren’t going to get any of them to resign, or extend, etc as title contention is at best 2028 and that is if you are lucky. AL EAST will be the dominant playoff teams in the mix and your one central rep won’t be the twins in near future. Bargain bin shopping that Falvey likes to do to say we are building around the core is comical, but not funny -
So I didn’t expect any of the twins leadership to say anything negative to date. Are we really expecting to say rebuild, we are making more trades, we are pinching Pennie’s, etc.? Pretty easy answer is No. You say that and you lose tickets sales, sponsorships, and the fan base. Actions speak louder than any words this time of year. He states he has the ability to build around the core veterans and make investments, We saw the same thing last year. Another year of dumpster diving for ‘building the team to be competitive” is whatever his definition of competitive is, which won’t be pretty.

5 Best Suitors in Byron Buxton Trade Rumors
umterp23 replied to Eric Blonigen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Buxton at this point in career wants championship opportunities and front office showed him that isn’t the plan. He should want to put himself in that position of I want to play with a contender. I have no problem as it is a win for both sides actually. Buxton had a great contract as injury prone as he was, he can thank mgmt for that. Now mgmt can thank him with a trade for capital, my only concern is the twins mgmt good at identifying Buxton capital return in a trade? -
Everyone seems to not remember that Jeffers skipped AAA during Covid year in ‘20. Graver took one foul ball to you know what man parts and Jeffers was called up from extended training camp. Finished the year with twins that year. Then he made big league roster in ‘21 coming out of spring camp. Wasn’t playing a bunch and sent down to AAA for month of may. Returned in June of that year to big league club. Rehab assignment in late ‘21 for broken bone in hand. So total of 33 games in AAA. Some promotion scenarios are done out of need, injury, skill, etc. Jenkins and others now have that opportunity in front of them.

Royce doing his best Correa impersonation, not very clutch. Mr happy feet has to guess pitch to succeed -

Imagine you are Jeffers, Lee, Lewis, larnach and Wallner and now that the team was gutted, you are left with 2 months of this mess. Has to suck for those guys as well as the fans trying to support them and the rest of the team. They have to be pissed off -
The Lee article a couple weeks back hasn’t aged really well that he needed fixed. The kid is a ball player, plain and simple.

Twins (TBD) vs Tigers (Gipson-Long): 6/27/25, 6:10pm

Crucial series and .175 batting 9th. If it wasn’t $10MM price tag he would be DFA’d.
