  1. Switch hitting power hitter. Last year vs lefties his avg was .151 with 4 HR’s. Last three years hit 22, 19 and 22 hr total ( vs lefties, 4, 6, 8 over same period -‘25, ‘24, ‘23). Power hitter that avg 19 hrs a year, is that the new metric for power? He is more DH than 1st basemen. But hey, we can say we spent money now in off season via FA. Not great spend though
  2. So we hear words about building around the core, what if the core is actually the youth core? Lewis, keaschall, Lee, Jenkins, etc and not presumed Buxton, Ryan, Lopez and Jeffers? Would we be happy with it? I would as you aren’t going to get any of them to resign, or extend, etc as title contention is at best 2028 and that is if you are lucky. AL EAST will be the dominant playoff teams in the mix and your one central rep won’t be the twins in near future. Bargain bin shopping that Falvey likes to do to say we are building around the core is comical, but not funny
  3. So I didn’t expect any of the twins leadership to say anything negative to date. Are we really expecting to say rebuild, we are making more trades, we are pinching Pennie’s, etc.? Pretty easy answer is No. You say that and you lose tickets sales, sponsorships, and the fan base. Actions speak louder than any words this time of year. He states he has the ability to build around the core veterans and make investments, We saw the same thing last year. Another year of dumpster diving for ‘building the team to be competitive” is whatever his definition of competitive is, which won’t be pretty.
  4. Buxton at this point in career wants championship opportunities and front office showed him that isn’t the plan. He should want to put himself in that position of I want to play with a contender. I have no problem as it is a win for both sides actually. Buxton had a great contract as injury prone as he was, he can thank mgmt for that. Now mgmt can thank him with a trade for capital, my only concern is the twins mgmt good at identifying Buxton capital return in a trade?
  5. Everyone seems to not remember that Jeffers skipped AAA during Covid year in ‘20. Graver took one foul ball to you know what man parts and Jeffers was called up from extended training camp. Finished the year with twins that year. Then he made big league roster in ‘21 coming out of spring camp. Wasn’t playing a bunch and sent down to AAA for month of may. Returned in June of that year to big league club. Rehab assignment in late ‘21 for broken bone in hand. So total of 33 games in AAA. Some promotion scenarios are done out of need, injury, skill, etc. Jenkins and others now have that opportunity in front of them.
  6. Royce doing his best Correa impersonation, not very clutch. Mr happy feet has to guess pitch to succeed
  7. Imagine you are Jeffers, Lee, Lewis, larnach and Wallner and now that the team was gutted, you are left with 2 months of this mess. Has to suck for those guys as well as the fans trying to support them and the rest of the team. They have to be pissed off
  8. The Lee article a couple weeks back hasn’t aged really well that he needed fixed. The kid is a ball player, plain and simple.
  9. 500 plate appearances and he needs fixed. I can think of worse twins who need fixing than Lee.
  10. Crucial series and .175 batting 9th. If it wasn’t $10MM price tag he would be DFA’d.
  11. Some comments mention new owners to blow up the mgmt regime to improve, move players in the off season. I have no confidence that the team will be sold at a valuation of $1.7B and another +$400MM in debt. selling team doesn’t seem imminent What I believe may happen is moving players on expiring contracts if you have depth to move up from minors as your return on trades might not give you plug and play swap of players. Don’t trust mgmt team to find that trade solution. I think wallner should be moved and he may give you good return, but I don’t think his value is worth much. So we may have to part ways with a couple prospects or spice a deal. Not a fan of mgmt to select valued prospects to move vazquez, who is taking him in a trade (plus is his salary won’t be much) but we aren’t getting any solid mlb ready catcher in return castro to me would be a good trade if keaschall was healthy but he is weeks away france and Paddack make sense to move, but that is a money move only which isn’t much money we are between a rock and a hard place with no clear path out
  12. If mgmt decided to pull a trigger with a trade, what would really want to give up for a good catcher. Give me catcher stability for a couple of years with a a balance of mid age catcher then over spend on aging catchers. Wallner/Julien and high AAA pitcher? I don’t know but seems wallner is gallo next generation. Gets hot for couple weeks and looks lost for a month. I don’t know farm system enough to throw names around or what targets truly make sense. I know we would have to shed some capital to make a trade, don’t believe our mgmt team knows how to do that
  13. Twins mgmt has put them in a really bad place with depth. Twins made a financial choice to trade Garver in his early 30’s age to not pay him a bunch of money as aging catchers bodies break down. Garver is full time DH and break glass need at catcher spot start. Then turn around and sign Vázquez to way over pay $10MM annual contract for a guy in his 30’s. Rortvedt is not depth we need, dude is in really bad place as a career .186, no power option. He is a cairmago version one but gets big league playing time. Twins are stuck with Vázquez and for all the fans who believe in a great clubhouse guy, get their wish to be the guy for a few days.
  14. Clemens has been a pleasant surprise. Castro and Kiersey in OF is not good for different reasons. Kiersey defense is solid but his bat doesn’t play at this level. Castro is not a master of any position and his bat hasn’t been good all year. Pretty telling that no slump Lewis is on bench with bride getting the nod. Lewis isn’t ready to play, rushed rehab job is hurting team
  15. How is that ruled a hit…clearly center cut in glove. Scorers these days are so generous
  16. Castro showing why he isn’t a left fielder… poor angles running to fielding the ball
  17. So does passed ball stat exist anymore? Everything is scored wild pitch it seems
  18. Morneau with all kinds of excuses for the closer Duran. Closer doesn’t need to start inning with no one on to close the game. Hang pitches down the middle and more times than not they are hit hard
  19. The healthy hurt chart is color backwards. Green to me means go you are healthy and red is stop your hurt. Don’t think Vázquez is hurt as he just wasn’t playing enough to be out there every other day. Yes he and Jeffers had banged up hands but Jeffers has earned some more starts as he is playing better both offensively and defensively than Vázquez. Play the schedule you are given, so beat up the teams you are supposed to and then build momentum. Big stretch of games this week
  20. Twins have just spent more $$’s on diamond dry than they did in off season in free agency
  21. Hard hit off the bat is something I’d be curious about as well combined, with launch angle. Don’t have the time to research all at bats, but looked at last night. Double, high launch angle and 100 mph off the bat having 1 strike on him in 1st at bat. Singles at 2nd at bat 109 off bat with no strikes in count. Singles in 3rd at bat 94.5 off at bat with 2 strikes. 4th at bat line drive out 95.7 off bat with 1 strike count. Last at bat after a brutal way outside strike2 call popped up to right at 86.2 off bat. Seems like when he is aggressive in the at bat his bat speed is higher. One of the few on the team with two strikes that is contact oriented.
  22. I like Vader and he gives you speed, hustle, solid defense and some grit at the plate. Dust, foot on base and a video review you make the call. When you watch it real time he is almost a full body length past the bag. One thing if you are sliding head first is touch and holding the bag with a hand. Take off the oven mitt these guys wear and he holds the bag vs flying over the bag. For a split second there wasn’t a single body part touching the bag per video review.
  23. Always interesting to hear about injuries when we see them but the excuses that it has been lingering for weeks to months coming out afterwards from players just sounds like excuses. It’s like when you hit weak ground balls and basically walk to first base for easy out, well, shucks, I was going to be out anyway. Miranda going on IL after demotion for really bad play and bad baseball IQ, but I’m hurt so maybe that’s why I wasn’t good. Twins fan have been hurt watching bad baseball, but last night was fun. Maybe some youth on this team can lead the way to allow the fans to enjoy good, playing hard brand of baseball.
