    Brooks Lee certainly looked the part this week. He joins an exciting group of young players: Lewis, SWR, Miranda and perhaps Larnach, Wallner and Julien.

    Interesting and well-written article. Royce Lewis is a potential mega-star, but with all athletes in almost all sports a huge variable is consistent good health to reach their maximum potential.

    I appreciate your spirit and passion. I support your interest in any topic fairly related to the Twins or MLB. However, in your attempt to trash the Twins season and FO you have presented a number of statements which have drawn sharp rebukes from some in the TD community. Was. this your intent? If so, can you at least understand that some would find such attacks on the Twins more befitting of the Chisox or Guardians communities. Final minor point - when you simply look at year to year spending of the so-called "big" market teams vs Mid market teams you are missing the bigger picture of the economics of professional sport - the increasing value of the team is where the true gains in wealth are realized! These professional franchises are worth billions, and billions can be had by simply holding ownership long enough. So if the Twins are valued as X and the Yankees are valued at X x 10 - yearly spending by the Yankees is in part motivated by enhancing the brand because the gains are greatly magnified - the Twins would gain much less via their spending in terms of valuation. It is financially prudent in that context for the Yankees to spend much more aggressively than the Twins.

    I attended this game. The Twins were really stinging the ball all game. Ober was excellent. I do think Buxton in CF provides confidence to pitchers that he can track down and take away potential hits. But at the plate he continues to struggle with consistency and lapses into being an all or nothing pull hitter.

    I agree - maybe Kirby Puckett put together something similar?

    Pablo Lopez has had four seasons with a sub-four ERA. He is currently having his worse season - hardly typical for him.

    Of course the current FO can make trades and spend as it has on occasion in the past. The trade deadline offers an opportunity for all teams to improve themselves for the short, medium and long term depending on their perspective. Yes, the Twins have a core that can do damage in the postseason - people writing off the Twins as an also ran come playoffs are undervaluing the team. No, not a favorite, but a team clearly capable of going on a run. Why not try to add an asset or two at a reasonable cost to enhance the possibility? A team just shouldn't stand pat year after year fearful of "losing" on deals and becoming solely focused on advancing via players in their own system - almost nø team wins big that way.

    Is it possible that Lee is. more than a high floor prospect? The dude can hit.

    Royce Lewis, despite injury disruptions, is having a hell of a start to his career.

    Severino is starting to hit. His power is intriguing.

    Brooks Lee has the makings of a star level player. He has the tools, support and general demeanor for a highly successful career. A balky back won't help, but should be manageable. (Hopefully)

    Interesting ideas being shared here. Seems that a secondary and maybe more important related facet to this is the now competition between Julien and Lee for the future at 2B.

    Yes, Correa is worth 30M in today's MLB economy. He is a star level player in multiple aspects of the game - contending teams need such players.

    I respectfully disagree on BB although I understand your point. BB has always been able to put together extended hitting streaks. I suspect we'll. see 2-3 of those this season if he can stay on the field. (Fingers crossed.) He is only 30 and i see plenty of athletic ability still. Besides BB is a player who seems very much a team guy - I have to root for him.

    Paddack may prove to a super solid mid-rotation starter. He has been putting together some real quality starts.

    Agreed: SWR was dominant. That plus Correa's performance stand out the most to me. Julien and Kirilloff's recent struggles are worth noting I suppose, but hardly that concerning overall. Players sometimes slump - it happens to every player. Both have produced enough in their short careers to likely be on course to be solid-good MLB hitters.

    Correa is one of the elite players in MLB. Enjoying watching him compete.

    Pitching + Defense is a way to win too. Scoring runs like the Twins were the past week, while fun to watch just isn't sustainable over the long haul. Need to win a lot 3-2 type games to be a real contender typically.

    Lopez is outstanding, but his "blow up" innings remind me of Berrios with the Twins who had some similar issues for a time.

    I appreciate the argument of a RP being available 3x a week vs 1x a week as a SP. However, the massive pay disparity favoring SP undercuts the point. MLB Execs obviously value SP way more than RP as clearly evidenced by who gets paid the most.

    One bright spot - SWR doesn't look rattled or overwhelmed by the level. (Yes, it's only been two starts, but he seems to look poised and up for the challenge.)

    The Chisox are clearly the worst team in MLB right now. But the Twins trying tø shake off a case of April fogginess need some W's to get right regardless of the suckitude of the opponent.

    Nothing seems to come easy so far, but this team needed one today. I like how Martin is playing.

    Perspective: Yes, the Twins start is rather disappointing given the expectations for this team. But less than 10% of the season has taken place, Three every day position players (Correa, Lewis, Kepler) have missed big chunks of the schedule to date. Giving up on the team on April 16 is premature to say the least...
