He is an adventure, I like it. At least he's not just playing it save afraid to make a mistake.

Roden is in a tough spot in St Paul as well given a likely OF of Rodriguez, Gonzalez and Jenkins. (Not sure of Jenkins status.) Fedko too? If the Twins intended to keep Larnach they certainly shouldn't have targeted Roden in a trade package.

Minnesota Twins 2026 Position Analysis: Starting Pitcher
GNess replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Twins top SP prospects all seem to have performed poorly to date so the Twins are banking on upside and purposeful development. This doesn't fill me with optimism.- 36 replies

Twins Spring Battle: Zebby Matthews vs. Mick Abel
GNess replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Interesting questions and points of view about what should be the basis for making this decision. At some point. their performance will sort this out. Spring training involves a small sample of real time performance as one of the many data points available. Matthews is struggling with command, if it doesn't improve in the next start or two Abel becomes the likely and best choice to earn a spot in the rotation. -

The sophisticated numbers breakdown may indicate Rodriguez. = Julien. My eyes tell me Rodriguez is significantly better than Julien. -
Minnesota Twins 2026 Position Analysis: Center Field
GNess replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Byron Buxton is a special talent and the latest in a fairly long line of great Twins' CF. He provides an entertainment factor with his all out style. The players in waiting (or development if you prefer) Rodriguez and Jenkins look ready (Rodriguez) and close (Jenkins). With Buxton in CF (if healthy) there isn't a regular CF role available so it seems prudent to give Rodriguez the opportunity to play LF or RF for now - wonder why is he being sent down.- 17 replies

Luke Keaschall Expands His Defensive Toolbox
GNess replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
What a bunch of double talk, we have a crowded outfield of prospects and decent veterans so let's run our 2B out there to complicate matters even more. Why? So Clemens can play 2B. Yikes.- 55 replies

Twins Daily 2026 Top Prospects: #7 Gabriel Gonzalez, OF
GNess replied to Sam Caulder's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Joe Garagiola used to say when you shake a baseball tree ten gloves fall out and for every one bat. Such old school wisdom here applies - this 21 year old player can rake. The Twins need to find a way to get him in the lineup soon. -
If it is a situation where it's Bradley, Matthews and Abel for two spots there are some consistent traits amongst this trio that make this a tough call. They all have serious stuff/upside, but yet have struggled at the MLB level to produce. They are all at an age when players generally need to break through somewhat. So it's maybe recency bias but I put Abel at the top of the. three and it's a coin flip between Bradley and Matthews.

Minnesota Twins 2026 Position Analysis: Second Base
GNess replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Give Keaschall a real chance to stick at 2B rather than trying to move him to the OF. Why would his lack of arm strength be less of a detriment at 2B? Yet, Lee is being considered being moved to 2B in part because of his lack of arm strength. Additionally, the OF appears to have some prospects who could be very good. Lee needs to improve and prove himself prior to making shifts in positions to facilitate him.- 19 replies

Finding Solace in the Wake of Pablo López's Bad News
GNess replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The Twins have to consider creative methods such as this to. build a strong roster given that they don't seriously participate in free agency and their record in developing young talent is average at best. -
Since there is zero chance trading Larnach for a SP even remotely close to Lopez its time to surrender the pipe dream of being a serious contender. If Larnach can fetch an upside arm or an under the radar. SS prospect he should be dealt. Otherwise just keep him and hope what the Twins have apparently seen in him manifests itself prior to the all star break and revisit dealing him then.
