  1. I would have forgotten the genre of music they played if it wasn't right there in their band's name. Give me credit for remembering Farner's last name isn't spelled with an 'm'.
  2. I clicked Like for the amusing take, but.... no. Read Brian's Seattle series starter again, and you'll see nobody's saying you can't call out bad plays when they happen. Just don't go into games defeated before we even start, and do recognize good plays when they happen too. If you mostly want to extrapolate to Twins issues larger than the one game, there are threads for that.
  3. After Mark Farner, I have to turn to Wikipedia. As for tropical storms, I guess I am glad there has been no Ashbury.
  4. MiLB.com offers a nice Scores by Affiliation feature which I keep bookmarked for easy reference. It has the linescores, plus links to the box scores that Cody and others provide in these reports - just a different format/interface to use for some purposes.
  5. I don't know whether the player himself is worth mentioning - I need more scouting info to have a view on that - but rookie league stats definitely aren't worth mentioning.
  6. The San Diego Union-Tribune's summary of catching prospects in the organization did not have Villalobos in their top 5, but somewhere in the next 8, maybe #8 overall. http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/sports/padres/sd-sp-padres-minor-league-catchers-to-watch-20170917-story.html The article offered no scouting details on him. Hopefully the glove is legit. Who would be the Twins' equivalent at #8 among catchers? I would imagine a lack of consternation if we gave up one, while acquiring someone's draft pick for cash. To me the inclusion of the catching prospect is a fig leaf for selling the draft pick for salary relief. The Twins budget remains under where I think it should be, so I want trades involving money to be going the other direction until the situation changes. But clearly whoever sets the team's budget disagrees with my POV.
  7. In this case I'm not much interested in not much.
  8. Swap Recker and Wilson in Reno, and you might see crazy numbers from Bobby too.
  9. Also, props to Byron for obviously wanting to stay in the game, despite a forehead gash that looked like it needed stitches.
  10. He had a bead on it. If the ball had traveled a foot less far, it was a game-saving play. I don't know if even the best judge of fly balls can pin it down to one foot - you go for it and try to make the play. I might feel differently if they were behind by 3 than with them holding a one-run lead. I would enjoy seeing a capable veteran like Torii dissect that video and maybe offer a constructive suggestion considering all factors.
  11. Yeah, I will always remember those two together. The thought was that if you could combine these two players' strengths you'd have a pretty darn good catcher. Unfortunately, platoons don't yet work this way. After reaching a level of batting inadequacy at AA, Turner's offense has declined to tragi-comic these past couple of years. And Garver's defense has failed to progress.
  12. Somehow, the presence of a player on the roster is evidence to the contrary?
  13. Over the last 7 days, Fox's stat finder shows only Kepler with an OPS above .700. I'm not interested in knowing whether Ehire Freaking Adrianza is second or third in some Slow Mule Race. This team is just Cold at bat right now.
  14. I meant to post something, the past day or so, that it wouldn't be surprising to have Stassi request his release so that he can latch on with another organization where he'd have a better shot. Carter was the handwriting on the wall.
  15. Interesting. I've heard nothing but good things about Ben's defense, so this is something that at minimum needs cleaning up.
  16. I clicked Like on this, even though I disagree with the sentiment, in hopes you get hooked.
  17. Seems like a good move, to try to aid his growth as a starting pitcher. Even if the outcome is bad tonight, it moves him forward a bit.
  18. Certainly simplifies the viewing process. Guess I can turn off the game and decide by reading tomorrow's box score.
  19. I usually avoid crippled operating systems for anything but simple web browsing. On my phone at least, when I am in an editing pane, locating the "Full Version" red button near the bottom of the page takes me to the interface where I can see "Attach Files" etc. I don't know how to get out of Full Version after I do this, though.
  20. They're wearing white or orange before Memorial Day. A cardinal fashion sin.
  21. If the photos are on your hard drive, click "More Reply Options" next to the Post button, and if you then scroll down a ways you'll see "Attach Files". Use "Browse", then "Attach This File", and finally "Add to Post". If all goes well, you'll have success, like I did.
