Totally agreed. Not a surprise, Flavine was a waste of resources. Cutting Levine was a financial move either way he should have been cut earlier because Falvey did what he wanted independent of Levine. I like Levine & wish him well. I don't expect anything to change with all the firings because of what was needed to be done was not done & won't be done. Firing of Watkins & Conger would be the only significant move left undone if they were really serious about making any impact.

Besides Falvey & Baldelli being the ones that should be fired. Watkins & Conger should be. Because of Watkins's terrible job as 3B coach & Conger as failure of our organizational catching development.

I had doubts about Popkins when we signed him. afraid because of his HR success that he'd be good only to support this all-or-nothing-hitting approach. But hearing testimonies of him helping players to adjust away from this approach I changed my mind. FO was very clear that they'd double down on their philosophy no matter our SO problem. Spring training focused on Falvey's all-or-nothing approach. The league had the book on Falvey's all-or-nothing approach. SOs increased but HRs greatly decreased. Twins' offense plummeted & slumped. Popkin was blamed for their struggles to take away attention from the real problem of faulty hitting approach. Baldelli declared the change of hitting approach to players taking better ABs. Popkins did a great job of incorporating the new approach that turned the Twins around and talks of firing Popkin stopped. After the absence of veteran leadership of Correa & Buxton, the offense began to wane. When offense wanes & we need to score runs the tendency is to focus on hitting HRs. The offense reverted back to their old ways & the Twins went into a tail-spin again that they never recovered. To take the focus off the real problem again, Popkins has become the sacrificial lamb. Popkins is a good hitting coach, his only fault is obeying orders. Firing Popkin will not make us better.

SD has good player evaluations that's why they make good decisions in spotting good talent & problem spots. Beyond this, Prueller is great at initiating necessary trades, Falvey is terrible at both. These are the big differences between our teams. Twins should have dumped Falvey & find a FO more like Prueller.

Should we move on from Levine? Not necessarily. You hardly hear from Levine but the little I hear from him makes sense, but Falvey does the opposite. Falvey does what he wants, Levine has very little say in what he does. So I don't blame Levine at all with Falvey blunders. Since Falvey is resigned, Levine is of little use. So I expect that Levine will be another sacrificial lamb before Falvey's bad philosophies & inability to initiate necessary trades.

Oh, Mike, I've never said I dislike Jeffers at any time. I've always said I've liked him, Through unbiased observation I don't see him having the stuff to be a primary catcher, no matter how much Falvey wants him to be. He's played much less than 100 games at catcher this season & he still can't maintain any productivity. Any productivity wanes as the season progresses. My opinion is consistent & IMO he hasn't proven me wrong.

Jeffers is an excellent backup catcher, his bat & especially his glove are much better when he is played less & efficiency goes down more when he's used more. His trade value was high last season & he's not a extension candidate because he's not a primary catcher & he'll be expensive as a Boras client, so I advocated to trade him. I would have kept Rortvedt than signing Vazquez but since we did I'd have picked up a potential elite MLB-ready catching prospect for Vazquez to mentor. Even though Jeffers is FO's choice, he still should be traded.

Good luck with that. Unless he is dropped in their lap & they are sold. It won't happen.

I can understand & forgive the Pohlads IF there is a salary crunch because we had a team that didn't have to spend much to make us a viable contender only to make a crucial minor trade for a mid-rotation inning eater in the offseason & another minor trade at the deadline for a LHRP. But those didn't happen. For us to be perennial contenders especially under these conditions, we need a FO who has pertinent philosophies, better player evaluation in development & trades together, puts greater importance on medical records & who has the ability to initiate needed trades. Falvey isn't the one, together with Baldelli who is exactly the yes-man that he wants. Change has to come & it was needed at the top. Because it didn't happen THIS is what I blame the Pohlads (does St. Peter fit here?). They have no idea what they're doing & they are giving total blind control over to Falvey. Because of this we'll never have a competitive team. Because of this decision, it'll affect my enthusiasm for the Twins.

Buxton is a bargain, yes it's a bummer that he's not on the field more, but neither is Mike Trout. He plays elite CF & in short spurts can carry a team, I'll take that. 100 games is above what most expect, I see that as the glass half full. IMO his biggest drawback is his hip scare-tissue & how persistent that is. I'm optimistic.

Most of the 70's & 80's were bad but I expected that. But looking at '24 starting the offseason, our '23 core was still intact, with healthy veteran leadership Buxton, Polanco & Correa, with promising Lewis, Miranda & Kiriloff to start the season & together with promising rookies. Our main hole was Gray, my hope was to trade for a stud but with rising Ryan & Ober, I'd still be satisfied with a mid-rotation inning eater to take the pressure off the rotation & BP & put us in a position to win the Division & advance in the postseason. This hole was not filled at all but instead money was spent on frivolous salaries handcuffing us financially from having money to spend on more important opportunities. Trade opportunities were not taken advantage of during the offseason & deadline. So I wasn't surprised at all by the outcome, nevertheless, I was very disappointed because I thought we had a shot at taking home the whole thing.

IMO it's more in Margot's case it's more obeying marching orders of putting Margot in certain situations than trust.

It's all ownership's fault, if they only had a little bit more money they could have acquired Rhys Hoskins (who everyone & the FO wanted) in the offseason & brought back MAT. That'd have solved all our problems. All sarcasm aside beginning the offseason we had a great core of players that finally had postseason success. Together with key players returning from injuries & promising young rookies. The only real hole we had was the departure of Gray, With the hopes that Ober & Ryan would take that next step, All we needed was to make a small trade for a mid-rotation inning-eating MLB arm w/o spending a dime. Instead, they decided to waste precious money on frivolous salaries that ham-strung us & made us weaker not stronger. Our BP weakness showed up early especially LRPs. MIA had been ready to trade A J Puk for any promising prospect, again w/o spending a dime. FO only needed to see our need early & make the trade. They didn't, their strategy is wait & see what's available which is normally scraps. Ownership shot themselves in the foot in response to the Bally fiasco. But the state of the Twins is FO's fault. Due to not being able to evaluate our real need & react quickly plus not being able to initiate a critical trade. Money is going to be an issue forthwith, FO needs to be able to evaluate, develop & make critical trades. A little extra money won't be able to replace that.

I'm for one have been in favor of not playing our players while they are hurting & not able to perform at a reasonable level. To fix the problem. Although the problems haven't been totally fixed, but these are desperate times that demand desperate measures. Margot was acquired to sub CF & be that RH masher off the bench. Margot has been more of a burden than an asset. Thank God for Martin who stepped in and took the brunt of Buxton's absence. While Margot got all the easy LHPs Martin had to struggle against the RHPs. Margot was a big mistake on many levels passed off from LAD. We'd have done better w/o him. With (LH) Keirsey getting most of the time against RHPs in CF & Martin being eased in CF against LHPs. This is just one of the reasons that contributed to our demise.

Very encouraging performance from Raya against a tough Indianapolis team. He pitches much better from the mound than the IL. Keep up the good work! Too bad the RPs couldn't hold the win for him.

I like pitching matchups for this series. Maybe we can pick up 2 out of 3?
