  1. A great day for Keirsey on his 1st MLB start. & whatever KC has over Ober to be of no avail.
  2. I was hoping that the new recruits from the draft would be enough to secure a playoff berth for Fort Meyers
  3. Royals were the better team last night. We have some great rookies but we are depending far too much on them. We have 3 rookie SP who we have put a heavy load on them. Martin has done very well for a rookie that's learning a new position. We have put him in the fire & a heavy load on him. We depend on him & Lewis for firing up the troops especially when Correa & Buxton are down. But Martin put in this situation is hard for him to maintain his production much less create that fire. Fire is what we desperately need on this team right now. They have it into their heads that Lewis has to play 2B, when Lewis doesn't feel comfortable playing there. For some time they have pressured him to play there. How can Lewis produce on the field & that fire that we desperately need when he's unhappy & uncomfortable? This FO has weird ideas for putting players in certain positions & how to go about doing it at the detriment of the team. It would have been much better to coach Lewis better at 3B in how to improve his throwing than have him learn a different position he's not comfortable with in the middle of the season. I applaud the team for trying to compete with other teams by improving their baserunning. But Watkin has no feel on how to coach that at 3B. The only thing he was good for before was to slap the players on the butt after hitting a HR.
  4. The situation was that this was Keirsey's 1st MLB game ever, which means there's a lot of nerves, hasn't developed any confidence, not knowing this OF, where the wall is, being cautious of the wall while trying to make that catch. Once he gain confidence, feel of the MLB OFs & etc IMO he would make that catch.
  5. Now I'm not accusing you, Stringer but there are many who like to put negative labels on rookies with negative expectations. Let's get this Andrew Stevenson out of our heads & give Keirsey every benefit of the doubt, he hasn't even swung a bat yet! Let's understand that he's a rookie let's not put up standards on him that veterans can't do. Martin is another rookie that many look down on. He has shown great athleticism but everyone is expecting him to be a Buxton. He's a rookie who has been asked to learn a new MLB premium position on the fly facing difficult MLB RHPs. A position he should have been brought on slowly but had been thrown into the fire of playing there regularly (no wonder it's sometimes overwhelming) while Buxton has been hurt while babying veteran Margot.
  6. If one's production is down & is hurting, you shut him down & fix it. IMO Keirsey should have been brought up after Kiriloff went down & give him some time to prove himself. Thank you Kepler for your contribution to this team & wish you well.
  7. Returning from a long IL stint, just getting his feet wet at AAA, after injury (I think that is a big enough challenge in itself). I wouldn't doubt they'd want him to get some AFL playing time in under his belt before bringing him up for next season & there's the question of service time. So I'd doubt it.
  8. A nice much-needed squeaker win, thanks to good pitching. More than 9 out of 10 CFers wouldn't make that catch that Keirsey missed. That close to the wall the present Buxton might not have made that catch. The ease that Keirsey got to the ball made it look easier than it was. Under different situations, Keirsey would have made that catch.
  9. KC is w/o Vinnie which is why they are losing. He made up a lot of their offense. With him, they'd give CLE a lot more trouble. We shouldn't have that much trouble even in KC.
  10. It might take a little while before he gets over his nerves but Keirsey will settle in as our 2nd best CFer behind Buxton. His speed will be very valuable for the Twins on the base paths (which the Twins kinda suck). He has raked in AAA let's see how that translates into MLB. It's a pity that he hadn't been up earlier when Wallner & Julien were sent down, Kiriloff got hurt & Kepler was streaky. offensively we could have used his LH bat, Since Correa, Buxton, Lee & Lewis hurt for a good part of the season, his glove in CF would have helped. His speed could always help on the bases. Castro is due for a break finally & Keirsey can give him that. He's finally here so congratulations Keirsey & wish you the best in the MLB. I'm kinda excited to see how he does.
  11. These explosions are expressions that they care. IMO it's beyond thinking about their careers but also not able to come through for the team & the fans.
  12. What I wish for is fairness. I'm against steroids, personal goldilocks balls, illegal sticky stuff. illegal sign stealing & for a straight ABS system. There are teams that are for or against these things because they benefit from them. I'm not at the point of having A I androids to replace human referees, if that is what you are referring to.
  13. I looked at that so-called "errant throw" by Varland. It looked like a perfectly good throw, Thrown where the runner could be picked off & a good 1Bman should handle. IMO it was on Santana.
  14. It's hard to play flawless ball with rookies in general, rookies & players learning a new position not to mention the normal grind; that goes with the territory. Varland was sailing through 2 innings where I thought he could make it to the 6th. Rookie Varland's time at SP has been shaky (although technically this wasn't a start). TB is great at playing fundamental baseball, which means a good base running game. Besides moving up runners, it shakes up the pitcher (which Twins are not good at). This tactic paid off against Varland, turning a smooth outing into a disaster. It was a disappointing game which I hope Varland can grow from. As long as Correa & Buxton are out of the lineup, I'm afraid we will have more of these games, friend.
  15. So much for the human element! Is this how we want the game controlled? The human element is flawed, a game that is hung in the balanced by millimeters & seconds, the human error should be minimized not glamorized, Buxton acted correctly by respectfully confronting the error & then walked away. The umpire did not
  16. I assume the same, Good idea! Go Twins!
  17. NP. Basically 1st round for high-end can & should go a bit further down. Was Caminiti available? I have to admit I wasn't invested as much this past year.
  18. Sending Wallner was absolutely the right move. It wasn't a putdown, he needed to adjust & that was where he needed to do it & he did. I've been frustrated by his development in the OF but he came back improved not only in his hitting but also his fielding. There's still improvement in his fielding & SOs that can be made but I'll take what he has to offer.
  19. Thank you Hawkeye for this info. IMO in the recent past Twins didn't have much luck with high-end prep pitching draftees & was quick to unload Petty instead of keeping & developing him. But IMO they have figured it out and went heavy in '23 & '24 by picking up 3 high-end prep pitchers they liked.
  20. I stated "high-end" draft picks meaning basically 1st round in reference to prep arms. I don't see lower picks change any from picking college arms.
  21. I'd like to clarify that Prelipp & Canterino are totally different than Raya. Raya is a young pitcher who is susceptible to injury, drafted young. Prelipp & Canterino's arms were shot when drafted. Therefore since Raya's innings have been monitored he hasn't had any serious injuries & is on his way to a possible prosperous SP career, although he might start out in the MLB as an opener. While Prelipp & Canterino development would need a longer & more stringent pitch count regiment to get them back on track & are probably doomed to the BP long term IMO. Any SP role IMO would be short-term & limited. IMO since Prelipp, the Twins will probably steer away from drafting damaged pitching prospects & SPs from Rice. & focus more on prep high-end arms so they can properly develop them.
  22. I agree with you there. But the odds would be better if they manage better their innings going forward. Some what like they have been doing with Raya starting with 2-3 innings & closely monitoring their arms. Even with management, there is no guarantee that either will ever make it to the MLB w/o injuries cutting it short.
  23. We probably will never agree, What is real is common sense. Starting pitching puts extreme pressure on the arm & if you increase the intensity on the arm over an extended amount of time you are asking for trouble. The rate that Ryan was pitching, he'd far past his past innings pitched, Paddack was pitching in his 1st year returning from 2nd TJ, he was pitching at a rate that far exceeded his previous innings pitched. Common sense is all you can go by. I don't think there is anything you can measure scientificly on each individual to see what the arm can take. Injuries may happen no matter what but if they are managed they are fewer & less severe IMO that is common sense. Common sense tells you not to jump off a cliff
  24. I wasn't blaming them for using him as a starter because as you said he never got to that point but their focus was on SP not RP which makes a difference in preparation. I wasn't even blaming the Twins for doing that. As I expressed IMO I think it'd be better to focus Prelipp at RP 1st.
  25. Roster spots are valuable, I know. We had an abundance of RH bats, where some had to sit over the season. But with Wallner & Jullien demoted, Kiriloff hurt for a long time and Kepler streaky & sometimes hurt, we've had only Larnach as a reliable LH bat, to face predominate RHPs. Even SH bats Santana isn't good against RHPs & Castro hits LHPs better, When Correa got hurt over a month ago, Castro spent all his time at SS leaving a big void for a LHH CFer. IMO Keirsey should have been called up at the beginning of the season to see how he handled MLB pitchers (IMO by his maturity & what he did at AAA he could handle it) but at least should have been called up at this time. Bousley could have been DFA or Margot pull his groin sooner to open up a roster spot for Keirsey. I agree with you that Keirsey is less needed now but Helman also has no MLB experience & hasn't been on the 40-man. IMO Helman is a poor version of Martin so is not really needed. This Sept. callup indicates who will be eligible for the postseason. We don't know how Buxton will hold up or when or if Correa comes back. IMO we could use more Keirsey's glove, bat & speed as an option.
