  1. NP. Basically 1st round for high-end can & should go a bit further down. Was Caminiti available? I have to admit I wasn't invested as much this past year.
  2. Sending Wallner was absolutely the right move. It wasn't a putdown, he needed to adjust & that was where he needed to do it & he did. I've been frustrated by his development in the OF but he came back improved not only in his hitting but also his fielding. There's still improvement in his fielding & SOs that can be made but I'll take what he has to offer.
  3. Thank you Hawkeye for this info. IMO in the recent past Twins didn't have much luck with high-end prep pitching draftees & was quick to unload Petty instead of keeping & developing him. But IMO they have figured it out and went heavy in '23 & '24 by picking up 3 high-end prep pitchers they liked.
  4. I stated "high-end" draft picks meaning basically 1st round in reference to prep arms. I don't see lower picks change any from picking college arms.
  5. I'd like to clarify that Prelipp & Canterino are totally different than Raya. Raya is a young pitcher who is susceptible to injury, drafted young. Prelipp & Canterino's arms were shot when drafted. Therefore since Raya's innings have been monitored he hasn't had any serious injuries & is on his way to a possible prosperous SP career, although he might start out in the MLB as an opener. While Prelipp & Canterino development would need a longer & more stringent pitch count regiment to get them back on track & are probably doomed to the BP long term IMO. Any SP role IMO would be short-term & limited. IMO since Prelipp, the Twins will probably steer away from drafting damaged pitching prospects & SPs from Rice. & focus more on prep high-end arms so they can properly develop them.
  6. I agree with you there. But the odds would be better if they manage better their innings going forward. Some what like they have been doing with Raya starting with 2-3 innings & closely monitoring their arms. Even with management, there is no guarantee that either will ever make it to the MLB w/o injuries cutting it short.
  7. We probably will never agree, What is real is common sense. Starting pitching puts extreme pressure on the arm & if you increase the intensity on the arm over an extended amount of time you are asking for trouble. The rate that Ryan was pitching, he'd far past his past innings pitched, Paddack was pitching in his 1st year returning from 2nd TJ, he was pitching at a rate that far exceeded his previous innings pitched. Common sense is all you can go by. I don't think there is anything you can measure scientificly on each individual to see what the arm can take. Injuries may happen no matter what but if they are managed they are fewer & less severe IMO that is common sense. Common sense tells you not to jump off a cliff
  8. I wasn't blaming them for using him as a starter because as you said he never got to that point but their focus was on SP not RP which makes a difference in preparation. I wasn't even blaming the Twins for doing that. As I expressed IMO I think it'd be better to focus Prelipp at RP 1st.
  9. Roster spots are valuable, I know. We had an abundance of RH bats, where some had to sit over the season. But with Wallner & Jullien demoted, Kiriloff hurt for a long time and Kepler streaky & sometimes hurt, we've had only Larnach as a reliable LH bat, to face predominate RHPs. Even SH bats Santana isn't good against RHPs & Castro hits LHPs better, When Correa got hurt over a month ago, Castro spent all his time at SS leaving a big void for a LHH CFer. IMO Keirsey should have been called up at the beginning of the season to see how he handled MLB pitchers (IMO by his maturity & what he did at AAA he could handle it) but at least should have been called up at this time. Bousley could have been DFA or Margot pull his groin sooner to open up a roster spot for Keirsey. I agree with you that Keirsey is less needed now but Helman also has no MLB experience & hasn't been on the 40-man. IMO Helman is a poor version of Martin so is not really needed. This Sept. callup indicates who will be eligible for the postseason. We don't know how Buxton will hold up or when or if Correa comes back. IMO we could use more Keirsey's glove, bat & speed as an option.
  10. I had high hopes for Canterino & they keep trying to keep him as a starter but where did that get him? With constant arm problems like Canterino, I don't see him ever becoming a SP. IMO they should focus him as a RP & wait & see if he get through these injuries then maybe try him at SP
  11. I am thinking possibly the same. I'm thinking of possibly they need more of a break than to suck it up. Especially Castro, I think a break would produce better production than sucking it up especially when we have quality backups waiting for an opportunity.
  12. The rotation has been overstretched especially rookie Sims. Last night was a result of that. Our BP has been overstretched, we come into tonight's game with Alcala, Jax & Duran spent. Alcala looked kind of shaky but he didn't give up any runs & got the win. Sands should be available even though he pitched last night, that leaves pretty much Blewitt or Tonkin if there is a low-leverage opportunity. We desperately need Varland & Winder, Our line-up is worn down, Castro had been at SS too long, Martin in CF too long, Lewis admitted to being tired still he was put at 2B to learn. I like Helman but I don't see why he was brought up. 2B is his best position but we already have Julien plus versatile Farmer, Castro, Martin, Lee & now Lewis to play there. IMO we need much more help in CF & our line-up against predominately RHPs than much less frequent LHPs. Going into a long road trip with little rest, I'm concerned.
  13. I totally agree with you there. I was expecting a lot of good things from SWR, Castro & Jax. But Sands. was questionable IMO & many had written him off, So his success IMO was the greatest surprise of all. Even Alcala who wasn't mentioned either, I was expecting more from. Alcala had been gone for about a year on the IL due to injury, surgery and recovery. I don't think Baldelli thought much of Alcala, delaying his permanent call up. IMO Alcala will continue to have success as long as he's managed correctly related to just coming back from his long IL stint. By pitching him in nonconsecutive, 1 inning outings. Jax. Sands & Alcala stepping up has really helped because of Duran & Thielbar slipping plus the injury of Stewart, The stepping up of Castro has been especially appreciated because the injuries of Lewis, Correa & Buxton filling in admirably defensively & offensively. Not to mention the slumping of many players. Through the absence of DeSclavani & Varland was inefficient as SP. later with long term injuries to Paddack & Ryan. Questionable by many SWR stepped up & has given us some stability in the rotation & has given us a chance to win in practically all his outings. These men have stepped up to keep us in the race along with Miranda & ascending Larnach & Wallner, They will take us to the Dance but we need Lopez, Ober, Lewis. Correa & Buxton to perform there.
  14. It's great to see Lewis being Lewis. Looks like he's back. Although apprehensive he did fine at 2B. Ober pitched a great 1 run, 1 hit, 8 Ks 6 innings game. Not to take anything from Jax but IMO if a pitcher gives up a tie with 2 runs in 1 inning, doesn't deserves the win over an Ober performance.
  15. Lee is surely needed, With Lee back, Helman isn't needed, we don't need another RH bat (once something gets in their head, it sticks no matter) & I can't imagine why they had to put him on the 40-man. Keirsey is more needed as a LH bat & CF & has produced all season-long & deserves to be on the 40-man & available for the playoffs.
  16. We have needed both Varland & Keirsey since the beginning of the season. We desperately needed Varland in a long relief/ spot starting role on a permanent basis. IMO if Varland had been brought up sooner Paddack & Ryan could still be around. Rotation & BP would not be stretched so thin, We have been weak in our LHH lineup, Keirsey could have developed into a viable LHH asset. Margot has blocked both Keirsey & Martin's development in the MLB. Martin has been overextended in CF, especially against RHPs. Come Sept. 1, I hope Varland & Keirsey will both be brought up, better late than never. Lee's return will greatly help relieve Castro at SS. Still don't know when Buck will be back, his presence has been sorely missed, as has Correa. Both setbacks have been frustrating & baffling. Wondering like Lewis when they can produce like we know they can after returning from the IL. Miranda slumping. My hope is once we get everyone together & in place. things will start to gel again. That we'll peak at the right time before the postseason. My biggest concern is the pitching, whether Varland's promotion would be in time to alleviate the overextension of the rotation & BP to avoid any further injuries & being worn out for the postseason,
  17. Zebby got pounded, which is to be expected sometime in his rookie season. The thing is he needs to learn to get it behind him, get up fighting & make adjustments. Rich Hill would have been ideal in this situation & for other rookie's experiences for he has that presence which consouls rookies besides his valuable mentorship. (LHP) Rich Hill just started to get ramped up for BOS, 2.2 innings, 0.00 ERA, 3 Ks, 0.00 WHIP. Hill was my 3rd choice (FA), Eovaldi was not available, (LHP) AJ Puk has pitched 14.2 innings, 0.61 ERA, 22 Ks, 0.682 WHIP for AZ, We need patience with all our rookies. They all have potential.
  18. Like I explained before he's the same as before except the pitchers has the book on him that affected his OPS. BA etc. He has adjusted for the better because his SOs are better. Stats don't tell the whole story. If pitchers ignore the book he'd have great numbers, he hasn't gotten worse he basically has the same weakness but is better at it.
  19. IMO Julien is better than last season. The difference in his offense is the league has the book on his weakness but he is striking out less. Julien's ability to turn DPs has never been that great but he's getting to balls that he didn't before but has difficulty coming up with the play. I think the greatest difference is his confidence which affects all aspects of his game.
  20. Raya & MacCloud are very encouraging. MacCloud going 4 innings in relief seems to work well! On the other hand, Lee going 0-4 with Dobnak & Winder's poor outings are downers.
  21. With the Twins, Lopez seems to go through a lot of adjustments early in the season but once he makes those adjustments he seems to be unstoppable. I'm not sure what his pitching patterns were in MIA. The defense was good tonite! The Twins have been a big disappointment these last few series, Hope TOR will give us a well-needed reprieve & we gain some ground on CLE, but CLE is facing PIT. So we need to do well here to stay with CLE.
