They have complained about the lack of offense overall. But in the pitching duel with the best team in baseball (Braves) Polanco was a big reason they won the series just now through clutch hitting. Keeping SEA in 1st place over TX & HOU. It seems like he's just starting to heat up to help SEA get to & advance in the postseason.

WOW 5HRs, thank you FlyingFinn for that update. One of the 1st games he hit a walk-off & his best talent is getting OB. I've always said that this was a big mistake. Not only being the best SS, that he'll turn it around hitting once coached right. But what do I know?

None of them have been available to play there except Julien & now Farmer again. Unfortunately with Satana at 1B they aren't moving Julien to 1B & have Farmer full-time at 2B. That has been my point. If they are open to have Martin at 2B & move Julien to 1B I'd be 100% behind that. But IMO that'd weaken us in the OF.

I was talking about our better options at 1B, Basically, Julien is the only available 2Bman. Because of that unfortunately he's no longer an option at 1B. I wasn't comparing him to Polanco.

I wouldn't do any of the main trades that were done or the signing of Santana those acquisitions held back our own players more worthy but the damage has been done and we are a weaker team because of it. Twins double down on their mistake so I expect they'll hang unto them as long as possible. We still have Martin so Margot is expendable but he's not going anywhere soon. In the beginning of the off-season we had Julien, Miranda & Kiriloff to play 1B a heck of a lot better options than Santana. But the Twins wanted Santana to be our every day 1Bman. Trading Polanco limited our options because basically Julien is stuck at 2B. Like Gallo, Santana isn't going anywhere. Jay Jackson, although has contributed, is the most likely to be let go because the Twin like to rotate arms & he's less flexible. Castro & Farmer are valuable bench players that'll bounce back nicely now that Correa is back. They shouldn't be going anywhere.

Open conversation about the state of the forums
Doctor Gast replied to Brock Beauchamp's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I'd like to echo Dman's comments. Although I don't always agree with the rants of some people, I believe this is the place for Twins' fans to vent their ideas even though I don't agree with them. Many times I just ignore them. They should be able to do so as long as they respect the other members. -
CWS played us tough, some close games & games we had to win from behind in the last inning but the Twins showed no mercy. Flexen had the Twins number & threw a lot slop that the Twins could hardly touch. Again the Twins superiority in the BP prevailed. Castro has been hot to silence doubters & now that Farmer back in his familiar routine has shown life. Miranda also has shown who he is, which is good to see. A good game all way around, IMO we can stretch out this streak against BOS even w/o Lewis & Buxton. Martin should be back.

Is This Process Worth the Results for Byron Buxton?
Doctor Gast replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Agreed Ted. Buxton prospered under his own process but him morphing into the Twins process has done him bad, especially him having the rust set in, he can't catch up to the fastball. Trying to catch up to the FB makes him vulnerable to the off-speed. He needs to find the swing that he can comfortably stay with the FB. Buxton has been MVP caliber player, IMO he can return to be one if he changes & finds himself.- 36 replies

Love your article on Salas, Seth. Even though he was only in the Marlin organization for a short time he still had relatives in Florida & grew up there, it felt like home. So to move to Cedar Rapids was quite a shock for him plus being exposed to a whole new hitting approach & quite understandable that he has difficulty adjusting his 1st year. Glad he decided to return to be himself & get on the right track. IDK how good he'll be in the utility role but think he could be a pretty good 3Bman. I believe his family is big in youth baseball in Venezuela. I really wanted the Twins to land his brother Ethan, IMO he'll become an elite catcher. At a young age he's quite developed & has all the tools to become one.

It's hard not to see Emma's potential. He has proven all his neighsayers wrong by mashing at AA, He is a bright spot in Wind Surge's struggling season. He shall be soon MLB ready & start impacting our team. Many talk about trading him, I wouldn't trade him unless we get a great SP for him nothing less.

Another great article Sherry. Even though there's nothing else he can prove in AAA & what he needs to learn is on the MLB level. But I yield that a little rest in AAA wouldn't hurt, Yet when the charm of the sausage is gone, they'll need to request the spunk of Martin to rejuvenate the team again. Beyond everything that Martin does. it's awesome how well he hits RHPs as well as LHPs.

I am less biased than most. Like I've stated before I'm willing to change my stance on any player. You can know a person by what he says, what he does & sometimes what others say about them. You can glean underlying conditions on the internet or by just observing how a player plays, To make a logical analysis it's essential. It's not difficult you just have to be open to go beyond the hype-spun stats to look. Polanco is often spoken of as heart & soul of the team, clutch-hitter, willing to play hurt, & even when the team sucks he still produces & a great clubhouse guy. Even in a slump he'll still come across with a clutch hit like he did last night in the bottom of the 9th, trailing 1-0 against the Braves in a crucial game, got a single that Garver hit a walk-off homer. That is who he is. Like the examples you omitted that I knew Lewis & Martin would come back even though many had written them off because I knew who they were. Polanco will come back & help SEA make & advance in the playoff because of who he is. I don't buy the negative hype that he's broken because there's nothing to support it. By all accounts & transaction physical exam, he is healthy. I'm not against trading Polanco if there it helps the team but this trade does not & made us weaker, to rebuke again your idea that I'm in love with him. This trade is too early to completely evaluate this trade this year. Any independent mind could see by the condition of DeSclafani's arm that he wasn't going to in any way impact the team as positive hype come across. The only piece of this trade that is definite is DeSclavani will not make any contribution to this team. Yet you refuse to admit you were wrong even though it's obvious you are. I refuse to try to talk sense to you because are so close-minded.

11 SOs it's a game we should lose even with a team like CWS. A win is a win. Give credit to the BP & pinstripes. Go Twins! Make it 10 in a row.

There are some teams that need RPs. We have an overabundance of them. Especially if you include Varland, who I wish they would & Alcala is too good to be in AAA. We should trade some that have no options.

Many fans get their info from social media. People use social media to pass their agenda to the general fans, During FA, owners pass their hype & agents pass theirs. FO uses social media to pass their agenda & justify their actions. Let me give you a personal experience. When Donaldson was signed, I bought into the hype (Kool-Aid) & I was wrong. From then on, I don't accept anything on social media as gospel w/o checking the source & do my due diligence. personal observations based on the player & the situation. personal observations is not trusting in what other say but personally checking it out & use only unbiased sources. based on the player is knowing who the player is, example; when everybody were down on Royce Lewis & Austin Martin I still believe in them because I know who they are not only as a player but as a person. The situation is knowing the underlying conditions that affect the results. Richard Olivar has been one of my favorite prospects. He's a very athletic & very good-hitting catcher. On one of the 1st podcasts over a year ago, I heard he had above average arm. I was all excited that he could become an elite catcher that we desperately need. But now I read he has a below-average arm if that is true, I made a mistake & in my book, he shouldn't be a catcher & I dropped him from my list. I don't play favorite. When I make a mistake I'll admit. Topa didn't have a history of injuries you can't predict his injury & his injury is short-term & Varland is a good pitcher & great RP we all want him to take that next step.

1B RH platoon should be Miranda's spot not only when Lewis comes back. Martin has nothing to prove in AAA & doesn't need more playing time, he has had plenty of playing time in the MLB. He needs more MLB experience to grow. which he can't in AAA. Like I've said from the beginning all our major acquisitions has been a waste. Taking away valuable playing time from our players that are more worthy & need that playing time. This should not have been necessary to send Martin down, He has the spunk that is so necessary on this team especially with Lewis gone. Correa's bat & glove has been greatly needed especially in the INF, I expect our INF defense #s have been very poor since he's been gone.

Miranda has played well, better than Santana. But Santana isn't going anywhere so Miranda is less important than Martin & should have been sent down instead. But great to have Correa back, he's very much needed.

Thanks Sherry, this is IMO your best article. CWS was a young & promising team that won the division a couple of years ago. But after running into some adversity (which all teams do) they didn't have the veteran leadership to get them through & they disintegrated. We were blessed by plenty of veteran leadership last year with Correa, Buxton, Polanco & young leader in Lewis. Yet we can't underestimate CWS because they are a MLB team. IMO the difference between us & TB is that TB has it right but they don't have the players. We have the players but didn't have it right to handle the injuries. The difference is when we finally got it right, we clicked against CWS & LAA. We got it right by changing our hitting approach. Our BP has been more than serviceable so adding Duran will only make us better. But the absence of both Lewis & Correa has shown us our big hole in our hitting philosophy & holes in our INF. Once they are permanently changed then we can really compete against better teams when Correa & Lewis comes back. So in a way, these injuries could be a blessing in disguise if changes are permanently incorporated.
