  1. Crap Ober's 1st hit given up. 4 innings, 6 SOs 0 BB. Good game Ober
  2. Ober needs to have his ball start outside & sneak in the zone.
  3. TOR isn't chasing Ober at all. A lot of pitches.
  4. W/o Margot Keirsey should have been up already. IMO Keirsey's performance won't translate in the MLB but it's all a process. Martin's stats lately have been baffling but Martin is MLBer & he'll come through. He just needs time. LH CFer who can hit is a premium, Keirsey will prove to be valuable. I should have been more specific Keirsey stuff will translate in the MLB but what I wanted to say was that it won't be automatic, it's a process. If you take everything into context what I said about Keirsey you'd know I'm high on Keirsey, Martin's internal makeup is much like Lewis's so he'll learn more at the MLB level. Don't be so quick to be so critical just because you are so quick to judge.
  5. W/o Margot Keirsey should have been up already. IMO Keirsey's performance won't translate right away in the MLB but it's all a process. Martin's stats lately have been baffling but Martin is MLBer & he'll come through. He just needs time. LH CFer who can hit is a premium, Keirsey will prove to be valuable.
  6. When the ump gave a gift to TOR in the 5th I felt the danger of the floodgates for TOR being opened & our bats going dry. IMO the door should have been slammed shut right away in the 5th. before things got out of hand. IMO SWR pitched a good game until then & we have a very good pen. Some of our new acquisitions are undependable & should be treated as such. IMO they are not needed & could be traded. Here again I'll advocate for Varland in long relief & have Alcala more available in short relief & have him worked into high leverage slowly.
  7. IMO it's time to put that sausage in the garbage. Yesterday's game stunk. Although the sausage served a purpose I believe that time has passed. From the beginning, Baldelli was not crazy about the sausage. I believe they were others that were negatively impressed by the sausage. Great hitters like Kiriloff & Martin have had poor performances during this rally sausage period & there have been others. IMO the sausage is stinking up the dugout metaphorically if not actually. Throw the sausage in the garbage not at each other. This thread is to put into perspective the real reason for the winning streak. It's a balanced hitting approach that doesn't strike-out in clutch situations. Not the sausage that can distract from that.
  8. Good one. Correa was an instant reaction to that ordeal much like Kepler was JD's reaction. I knew Correa wasn't on the field. The absence of Buxton, Kepler & Correa proves the lack of veteran leadership to intervene in that situation. That is the point, veteran leadership on the field is very valuable. The absence thereof is really the cause of that misplay not Martin or Julien.
  9. IMO the game went sideways when the ump stole 2 strikes from SWR that should have been a SO but that ordeal force SWR to serve up a hittable pitch that started everything. that forced SWR out. TOR pitcher got a gift strike that was clearly a ball. If we had an electronic strike zone the game would have been different.
  10. They are getting his pitch count up there.
  11. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkkGc_4y3hU Good to see Arraez do well.
  12. Another reason for electronic strike zone is now catcher are catchers are catching closer to the plate to get more strikes. Because of this Conteras broke his arm. If we have an electronic strike zone that won't happen & will prevent future injuries
  13. I tend to evaluate more on what has been developed, ability to adjust, floor & character. That's why my evaluation on SWR prior hadn't dropped that much. Raja has a higher ceiling but his development is behind SWR & Festa so his floor is lower. Like you Cody, those 3 are the top, IMO they are very close right now. I could go SWR as #1. SWR had a great start, I imagine the league will get to know him & adjust. IMO SWR will readjust hopefully quickly.
  14. Great game by Ryan, Although it's nice to get served up meatballs to produce solo HRs. But what will win the close games is the grinding out ABs not striking out & get those clutch hits.
  15. Rugby! cool. What time did you watch the game in Hong Kong? & How's Hong Kong?
  16. Early into the slump fans were blaming the line-up that we needed players with more thump. Others were blaming Pohlads for not spending the money to go get those thumpers. Others were blaming the coaches that they needed to be fired as soon as possible. Some said no to all of them & blamed the hitting approach. When Baldelli recognized the problem & said we need to change our approach is when things started to turn around. Baldelli couldn't resend everyone down to Ft. Myers for a mini spring training. Playing CWS & LAA was the next best thing for the team to straighten out their swing. Give credit to Baldelli for recognizing the problem, coaches for implementing the new approach & players eagerness to change & put it into practice. Now that we have gotten that resolved, when Lewis returns well be ready to face the toughest teams. With another postseason SP we can go far.
  17. Umpiring is so difficult, with everything happening so fast & try to get it right. There is human bias bigger teams are favored over smaller ones, vets especially popular ones get favored over rookies, each ump calls strikes & balls differently. Raunchy fans can pressure umps to make a certain call. Miss calls make a lot of difference for the pitcher or batters in leverage, Managers & players can't argue strikes & balls. Some say it's entertaining to watch managers argue but it doesn't pay & the ump can get it in for you. The electronic strike zone will eliminate human error & make it uniform. I prefer fairness more some crazy form of entertainment. If you like to be entertained maybe they can direct an allstar-wrestling match with a fake manager fake pile driving a fake umpire at the 7th inning stretch. You have human error yet I've watched replays believing it was one way & yet HQ called it the other. Sometimes even replays it's difficult to get it right. IMO we need to eliminate human error as much as possible. That's means eliminating as much as possible referees' errors & absolute dictating.
  18. I apologize, I was wrong, The replay doesn't tell the whole story. Watching the whole play I could see that the ball wasn't that deep & Julien was in the best position to catch the ball. And Martin was late at calling it or Julien couldn't hear him until the end & not able to get out of the way.
  19. I reviewed that whole play, & I apologize, I was wrong. The ball wasn't that deep & Julien was in a better position to catch that ball.
  20. If it was 100% on Martin then the professional ref would have called an error on Martin. None was called. One who is running in is in a much better position than the one running back
