  1. Terrible start. Let's see how much fight that's in the Twins.
  2. IMO fans were expecting info on Lee & Jenkins. Yeah will be great to have Buxton back since he was starting to heat things up before he went on the IL. But we really miss Lewis, almost as much as he misses playing. 25% tear on the patella sounds serious, I wonder how much he can still contribute this season maybe better to opt for the surgery. I agree not to rush Steward best to have him 100% & stay healthy than going back to the IL shortly & develop into something more serious after returning if rushed.
  3. IMO we'd be better off staying pat than spending on new acquisitions (that contributed little to none) because we had better options in-house. The only position we really needed was a top SP that we could pick up at the deadline.
  4. Thank you Jamie for putting this out there & starting with catching because I'm passionate about this position. I'm passionate about it because I see a great need there in the system. To get a half-decent catcher would be expensive so drafting through player evaluation & development is the best route. Because the need is so prevalent now I prefer focusing on college prospects. I was excited about so many high-ranking catching prospects this year. But I believe '23 Teel & Carrigg were better candidates than any in this group. Still it's a pretty good group. The candidates that I like to focus on are those that are college, have good defense (athletic & strong arm) & can hit. LH or switch-hitting is a premium. I like Lomovita but he'll probably go before we get a chance at him & he bats RH. I like LH batting prospects Moore & Covart the best.
  5. Julien can't forget who he is or where he came from (I think that it influences how he wears his cap). Nor should he, yet he's good enough-natured to take the ribbing. Very amusing piece. Aye.
  6. NYY are beatable, besides BAL- TOR & OAK took their series. Even w/o Lewis we can beat these 2 teams. The problem IMO is that the Twins admire the NYY. So much so that they have copied their hitting approach. This hitting approach has it's flaws & the NYY had been floundering. Appears they are trying to change but w/o Soto carrring them they wouldn't be that great. We have edged them out in HRs & beat them at their own game in the recent past but that's not the key. NYY believe they own us & with some effort they'll come out on top. Instead of getting psyched up against them, they get psyched out & make a lot of mistakes & when they fall behind they give up. We have lost a couple of keys guys that weren't influenced this psyche. Lewis is the type of guy that can turn things around, until then we'll end losing to teams like NYY.
  7. Workload management has been one of our biggest problem. At the end of every year we limp into the postseason (if even we make it there,) & bomb, contributing to the longest postseason losing streak. With fans complaining of rotten luck with the injuries & poor performance. Luck has very little to do with it, it's poor workload management. Last season except for the year prior holdovers, we had relatively few & minor injuries it's because of the better workload management. With the rotation, BP, battery & lineup fairly healthy & refreshed we were able to break that ugly record. IMO most everywhere is pretty well managed but my main concern is Paddack, SWR & our high-leverage BP. that they are properly managed & available to pitch quality innings when needed.
  8. IMO Alcala should be used better. IMO Varland & Alcala up in the pen on a steady basis makes us a better team. RPs that have options are worth keeping around but for those who do not, have to be dependable otherwise traded or DFAed, Balazovik has no room for error. IMO Canterino needs to start out in the pen, with his stuff should rise to MLB quickly once healthy.
  9. 😉 Normal ramping up after extended time on the IL start in the lower level MiLB (which Larnach did) & then work them up through the levels (which Larnach didn't). Because of his problem with breaking balls, I felt that he needed that time. But as I stated before I was pleasantly surprised.
  10. Just like the sausage has made a big positive difference in a couple of players, it seems that it has a negative effect on good hitters like Martin & Kiriloff. Like most good Twins prospects they had spotty showing at their debut. But given more time they settle in, Martin has a lot of value for Twins & like those prospects, Martin can impact the Twins in the 2nd half.
  11. With what we have now it's 50/50 but the return of Lewis, Buxton & Steward there's no doubt.
  12. Festa has steadily improved & moved up in the MiLB. By the time we need him in the MLB he should be ready. Festa is getting attention out there maybe he can break the 100 prospect list, IMO he deserves it.
  13. Paddack pitched a great 1st inning but he is still a work in progress. Rodon against this lineup last night is tough. Jeffers started us out well but the well went dry. Happy that Margot got a single but still can't figure why he's was place so high in the lineup. Really missed Buxton in CF, if we had him & Lewis we'd win that game. We can still win the series. Go Twins
  14. I had advocated for Larnach get another shot & kind of felt sorry for Larnach to be rushed up to MLB so soon. But he showed me that he was more than ready. He changed his swing & he's really cooking, I wouldn't change a thing. He's become a very dependable hitter. I'm super surprised by his transformation & expect good things from him.
  15. Soto has been carrying the team. Just pitch around him we have a chance. Go Twins!
  16. With some higher-level teams coming in we need our best RPs up here. Alcala is doing well so we need him up here & used responsibly. We need to bring up Varland to cover innings in long relief along with Sands (in lower leverage) & later Canterino. Thielbar is still serviceable but other non-option RPs are not dependable & unnecessary with Varland & Sands. So they can be traded or DFAed. & yes it's ridiculous how they are using Alcala.
  17. My evidence is looking at the priority of their drafting, big bat with below-average glove unless it's a no-brainer like Royce Lewis. Their hitting development is squeezing every HR out of every prospect no matter what type of hitter they are. Only hitters like Lewis, Lee & Martin who are secure in their hitting have been able to break away from that mold. They traded away their top defensive catching & SS (premium position) prospects for nothing. Before they signed Vazquez our catching defense was in a shambles. Jeffers defense was below-average & floundering at catcher. None of our catching prospects are even rated & lean more towards offense, Any prospects of any good defensively were years away. Catching like CF sub & SS were so bad that they had to go outside the organization to try to stop the bleeding, so they had to get Vazquez. I have no idea why they acquired Santana. I am a defense-minded person but I know that 1B is an offensive 1st position & least important defensively. Where no defense priority is needed they're putting priority. That tells me that they don't know where they need to put their defensive priority. That's all the evidence I need. You can say family is important & believe it but if your actions show that it's a low priority it doesn't matter what you say you believe or think.
  18. Thanks guys for letting us have a vote
  19. I agree Stringer basically with your assessment that the BP is a concern, BP is always a concern because it's so volatile. I'm in the camp that think that Varland would be of better use up in the MLB club as an elite long reliever & spot starter than down in AAA. Having him in this capacity doesn't eliminate him from being in the rotation if the need arises. Having Varland in the BP helps take the pressure off the BP & rotation & frees us up to trade excess questionable non-options BP arms. Canterino should be an excellent replacement for Varland in the BP once he's needed in the rotation. Besides Varland we have Festa to step into the rotation, I'd also like to sign a guy like Rich Hill to a MiLB contract & be a safety-net, mentor & rock to stabilize the young arms.
  20. Agreed IMO these stats are more indicators than measuring sticks. If these dips in stats linger in a player like Kiriloff, then you stop him & ask him if he's battling a cold, a nagging pain, or if he has problems at home or something is distracting him in the clubhouse & try to resolve the problem. Not say he's a bum should be send down or traded.
  21. I tell you chpettit. I took an economic class a long time ago in college. I really liked my teacher but when he started to pull out graphs having arrows going this way & that way he lost me right away. I skipped most of my classes & showed up for quizzes & exams. Instead of trying to come to the answers by using graphs & etc.,, I used my common sense & I aced my class. You can come up with graphs & stats, you'll lose me & I don't trust them. You can have your graphs & stats but I'll stick to my common sense. Thank you.
  22. Arraez/ Lopez was different because it was mainly player/ player rather than EE/ Duran & Macial which was player/ prospects. I was in favor of both. I was hopeful that Macial & Duran could work out but they were lotto tickets. I really liked Duran's upside so I often would pick Balazovik over Duran in my trades at BTV. We had tried Romero (a top SP prospect) in the pen but he didn't work. So putting Duran in the pen was a gamble, Twins had Duffy & Pagan ahead of him. But the Twins got lucky & Duran flourished there. There's a lot of luck involved. I was all for the Gray trade. Cruz/ Ryan trade. I was torn with the Prestly trade I really hated to see him go, if the Twins could have extended him I'd prefer to keep him. I question a lot of our trades & deem them mistakes from the beginning. I was in favor of the Maeda trade but LAD was pressed to trade a disgruntled Maeda & I believe we didn't have to give up Graterol. IMO all low MiLB are high risk.
  23. With AZ Duran might not have happened. He was a SP who got injured a lot & had control problems. Duran might not have happened in MN either if they hadn't tried him out at RP before giving up on him.
