  1. As the season progresses, the Twins will want to give Correa more days off from the field with some at DH. If Lee can play short, this gives the Twins great flexibility in the IF. And will guarantee Lee playing everyday. As mentioned above, Castro goes back to super sub. Farmer is DFA'd.
  2. Flat out NO! . I would be reluctant to trade just one of Festa or Keaschall with Kiriloff to get a rental. No way you trade both with Kiriloff.
  3. Luke Keaschall at 21 tearing up AA already. This kid is clearly moving up the prospect list IMO. Another legit second base prospect for the big club with Julien and Lee?
  4. Agree with all of the posters above pointing to two main issues impacting many of these younger (and older) players. 1. Hitting coach. Simply too much proven talent that is underperforming at a dramatic rate. This is glaring actually. 2. Analytics/platooning. This team's absolute reliance on analytics over any sense of "gut feeling" inherant to baseball not only seems to be impacting performance but makes for a very boring product to watch. No way under this philosophy do you see Rocco leaving in Morris for the 10th. Or Kirby facing lefties and righties everyday. The platooning is maddening to watch, particularly when there is a hot hitter sitting. I don't know how they justify this when after 70 games, the offense is still below average. I have been saying this for the past few years. Rocco is still riding the huge coattails of Nelson Cruz.
  5. This is the only correct answer. But was incredibly predictable because of this FO absolute inability to cut dead weight. Jake Cave, Joey Gallo and now Farmer and Margot. This offense is unwatchable with those two and Vasquez in the lineup. Julien has actually been better at the plate over the past week and seemed like he was turning the corner. I am not a fan of this FO and these moves continue to reinforce why.
  6. The Twins are notoriously slow at promoting talent. This is no secret and anybody who understands the Pohlad's financial philosophy knows this. All fingers are pointing at releasing Kyle Farmer. This is a no brainer from a talent level. Manual Margot a close second. But the FO knows that they will be eating salary and this is not something ownership tolerates. I honestly think this is the main reason that Lewis is still in St Paul. There is absolute credence to a longer than average stay in this case and it is understandable given Lewis' history. But to think that the decisions that need to be made on the 26 aren't factoring is naive at best. Look no further than Joey Gallo last year. Regrettably, Twins fans will always have to deal with the financials being the primary driver for the Pohlad's over winning. It is just fact. It's a shame that of all the ownership groups in this market, the Pohlad's are the most budget conscious in the one league that has by far the softest salary cap.
  7. The offense here is still very below average. The Margot trade is a bust and he needs to be released. Farmer as well. Bring up Lewis and Keirsay and give the fans two fun players to watch. Vazquez just will never hit for this team. This needs addressing as well. This lineup simply is not going anywhere with so many automatic outs. I personally wish we could address the hitting coach but that will have to be an off season move. This offense is simply unwathchable unless beating up low tier pitching.
  8. No way that the Minnesota sports god's were going to let us be happy too long. The Wolves doing a complete about face in the playoffs after a superb game 2 performance and a punchless sweep to the hated Yanks is more inline with what we should expect. Flyover country once again.
  9. Flying under the radar because of Zebby is ERod who had another productive night. Time for him to see some AAA AB's. His very high walk rate indicates he is being pitched around routinely.
  10. Geez, how nice would it be to have CES and Steer in this lineup. I simply do not understand how this trade did not cost the FO their jobs. This FO is inept and combined with a manager who has no business in the big leagues and you get this putrid product. It is absolutely unwatchable. Fire the manager now and the FO immediately after the season. BUt of course this requires the Pohlads to care about the product and not the bottom line.
  11. The Pohlads need to clean house at the executive level who hired Baldelli who is not a big league coach. This franchise is still living off of the huge coat tails of Nelson Cruz and what he did to the on the field team. The offense is a bad as any I have seen and I am not young. There is no hope with this team. You are correct in that the easiest quick fix is to ditch the hitting coach. Not only is the team bad but they are painful to watch with their approach.
  12. The number of terrible AB's from an approach standpoint is very alarming. Kepler looks absolutely lost at the plate. Outside of Kiriloff and one bomb from Jeffers, this offense has been as bad as I can remember. Unwatchable. Compounded by the fact we are not facing Walter Johnson every night.
  13. For me it is because I immediately recognized how horrendous this trade was. I just didn't and don't understand wtf the FO was thinking on this one. I will never claim to be guru like some of the other guys here but my goodness, it was so obvious to me. I personally think the HIcks for Murphy trade was brutal as well but at the time of the trade I understood the reason, This trade is going to haunt us for years and IMO should have led to some changes in the FO.
  14. I cannot recall another Twins player having near the positive impact on the overall lineup than Nelson Cruz did during his short tenure here. His presence in the lineup elevated every hitter. Sure other players may have had some better numbers but they were also surrounded by more talent. Cripes, I would argue that Rocco owes his current paycheck to Nelly,
  15. This team absolutely needs to add bats. They simply do not hit above average pitching and better at all. They beat up on weak teams in their division and scored runs late in the season when several teams had mailed it in already. We just cannot have more Gallo's, Castro, Solano, Farmer signings while letting CES and Steer leave with nothing in return. Pitching did not lose the Twins this series. It was absysmal hitting (outside Lewis).
  16. I would much rather see the organization hold on to the potential that Miranda brings over Farmer and especially Castro.
  17. Tony Oliva, Kirby Pucket, Corey Koskie, Justin Morneau, Joe Mauer, Francisco Liriano, Byron Buxton, Alex Kiriloff, Royce Lewis and I'm probably forgetting some others. Name another franchise in professional sports to have so many very good to elite level players have their careers ended or completely altered due to catastrophic injury. It is beyond disheartening.
  18. This is perfectly stated. I don't believe it is ALL on the hitters. The organization has clearly decided that every hitter needs to swing for the fences on every pitch. Rules were changed this year in MLB to reward hitting for average (no more shift) as well as base stealing, which the Twins basically all but ignored. Coaching is also a big contributor to this issue.
  19. The 40 man roster is not very deep particularly on offense. There should not be any Rule V players that hit the market that are of any value with this current list.
  20. Am I the only one here who sees offense as the overwhelmingly number one issue with this team. We don't hit above average pitching and haven't since Cruz left. Offense needs to be addressed first. And not with a Joey Gallo type signing.
  21. I just don't think this team has shown it can hit GOOD pitching this season. I mean they don't hit it at all. And we are without our best hitter (even if Lewis plays, he hasn't seen live pitching in weeks). They will really struggle to score runs in this series. We need our starters to pitch their best games of the year and hope somehow we can get some runs in the 7th and 8th to scratch out a low scoring game(s).
  22. Glad to see you joining the club USAF. Been screaming at the top of the mountain for a couple years now. He absolutely rode the coattails of Nelson Cruz for his first couple years and now is benefitting from being in the worst division in MLB. But this FO is equally inept as well. The fanbase in this state has been beaten down to the point of moral victories and "he's a nice guy" takes. Eff that. We are going NOWHERE with this FO or coach. The entire organization needs to be gutted at all executive leadership/managerial levels. It is glaringly obvious.
  23. LOL. I have not heard this quote directly. But I can say that I am thankful that I was not driving when this comment occurred.
  24. So fun to see Austin Martin absolutely tearing it up over the past few weeks. Just red hot and an absolute reversal of earlier this season. A huge positive for the organization.
  25. There is simply no comparison AT ALL to the 1987 team. That team could hit the hell out of the ball. It also was loaded with team leaders like Puckett, Hrbek, Gladden etc. This team has none of the aformentioned. I would also take Viola and Blyleven in the playoffs over any our current starters. The 87 team was a blast to watch because it was a very entertaining style for the time. This current team lacks absolutely any passion or grit and is about to set a strikeout record! Bad article.
