    I agree with the first paragraph. But you need veterans around who can show the rookies the ropes. This is a team in transition. I think they are building for 2027. As this article has stated the Twins have too many holes at this time. But they do have lots of young talent ready to transition to the majors. Throughout next season expect many rookies to make their debuts as players go up and down. I think 2026 is to see what the Twins have and develop as many players as possible to have as many holes in the 2027 roster solidified so next offseason the Twins can take another step forward.

    If the Twins are competitive at the trade deadline we will have our answers on the action speaks louder than words. If we add payroll and players to a competitive team......

    I could see a 3-4 year extension for Wall er but not with the three OF prospects in AAA Lewis can be extended but on a more team friendly deal with incentives would be fine. Cole Sands on a three year extension with an option year or two so the Twins can choose to buy out a year or two of free agency. Keaschal is interesting you are looking at either a short term deal of three years for security for the player or a long term deal. Depends on the cost. I would rather extend Jeffers and Ryan though Jenkins would be interesting on an 8 year deal

    The Twins won a world series with a 3B platoon and a LF lead off hitter with less than .320 OBP It's about outscoring the competition on a daily basis. Bell adds depth to the lineup. He is a #6 type hitter. For 7 million in FA his bat is solid. Way better than the 5 million the Royals are paying Lane Thomas next season. That guy hit under .200.

    I would think if Bell hits 20-25 HRs and 70-80 RBIs he will justify his 7 million salary easily. I feel like he can easily do this. The question is can the Twins get his defense close to average so he can be worth 1-2 WAR on the season.

    If Bell hits 20-25HRs and knocks in 70-80 RBI. His signing would be a success at a cost of 7 million. He is not here to single handedly save the team. He does need to play a fair number of games at 1B with as close to average defense as possible. I'm sure he will get plenty of games at DH too.

    I don't get all the negativity, Lowe is maybe 30 OPS points better than Bell and better defender. How much more value is that? What else could the Twins do? It's a one year contract. If you're not happy then focus on the prospect we can get for him at the trade deadline. Based on that article of 15 options at 1B, Bell is in the top 3. He is basically Cuddyer with a lower average.

    Bell is a Boras client and Jeffers is a Boras client and we need a Jeffers extension. I'm sure it helps having a good working relationship with Boras, now let's get him locked up. Bell and Nathaniel Lowe were my two favorites. Now we can focus on pen. Or a backup SS. Who are the top reliever targets?

    Where does Sabato rank on this list? What I like about this list is the Twins could sign 2 of these guys at their price because there are so many of them. Nathaniel Lowe for 1 year 8 million and Garver can play 1B / DH and third C for 3 million 1 year.

    I would define a power hitter by their average in hitting extra base hits. A .100 average is a solid power hitter that’s 50 extra base hits in 500 ABs. A .110-.120 is all star level and above .120 is elite.

    They traded for a C prospect that they didn't have to worry about losing if he didn't stay on the roster.

    He can hit 105 + OPS which is better than one one they have there now and his costs is minimal so they can afford to go after another OF. I just checked and the Royals have the equivalent of 7 slightly better Topa”s in their pen we could trade for one. They probably cost in their pen 1-3 million range so we save a few bucks with the trade. It’s win/ win. we change OF too . Martin and McCusker and Outman or Rhoden….. I think we have trade options…. Fedko … Gonzales (though I want more if we trade a legit prospect).

    Is there a trade with Kansas City that helps both clubs? We could send Larnarch and Outman for a reliever. One of their SP is available for trade as well. Is there a match?

    Definitely Schwarber. He is the new Nelson Cruz and he needs to hit here. But probably after his upcoming 4-5 year contract. He is only 33 at this time. Frim what’s been said so far, I will go with Casas or Hoskins. O’Hearn would need to come cheaper than he could likely get elsewhere.

    1. Maybe but possibly not. 2 who cares 3. They will sign a major league reliever and 2 or 3 to minor league deals to compete for a role. 4. They have internal options that can push Larnarch and Wallner to these positions during the season. I could see them signing a 1B and trading Larnarch.

    4. A back up SS/IF. Is needed too. If we sign a 1B then the Twins could trade Larnarch. There are three top prospect OF about ready to emerge. Rhodes and Martin can platoon for a month or so till one of them warrants a call up.

    Jeffers agent is Scott Boras. I thought 14-15 million per season was adequate so I added a little. Raleigh is worth more say 25 million per season or so. Schwarber is bat only and likely to make 27 million with a similar profile to Raleigh though Raleigh is entering his prime and Schwarber is on the downside. Stats can always be used to justify your argument.

    No prospects at 25+…. looks like Tait and Jenkins has the potential to be the fastest risers of the group and be up at 21.

    Sometimes the best value is to let the player play out his contract and walk. Jeffers knows the Twins system and can help develop the back end starters and bullpen. One of Ryan or Lopez would need to be traded for a Jeffers extension. But I can also see the Twins signing Jeffers to an extension. A 4 year 64 -68 million deal seems reasonable to me. Tait is 18 and could be up at 20 or 21. A split share 55/45 seems about right for a rookie who is likely to start for years to get. And 50/50 that last season. There will probably be some 1B or DH time available for those two guys as well. Jeffers would be 33 at the end of a 4 year extension.

    The Twins are not likely to contend next year anyways so signing a player like Hoskins can be a low cost win. He hits 30 HRs or gets traded for a solid prospect. Both are wins. also, it improves our chances of being a .500 team next year. If the bullpen works out.... we could be a .500 team. We also need a few things to break through on offense for us to be competitive

    I liked the Duran and Bader trades the most. I am surprised that the C from Detroit is better than I thought and is a solid prospect. I hated the Jax trade and Stewart trade. Jury is out on Varland trade. I also didn't like the Correa trade. We should have received more salary relief or a better prospect with the 30 million price tag we still have. I am indifferent on the Castro and Coloumbe trades. the prospect for Coloumbe could turn out into a useful reliever.

    The OF and Starting Rotation is actually pretty solid. The areas of concern are the IF and bullpen. for the pen, I can see the Twins signing a reliever to a major league contract and signing two or three to a minor league deal for depth and competition. In the IF the concerns are mostly SS and 1B. The Twins can sign a low cost 1B like Hoskins or bring in an OF like Larnarch or Wallner as the OF will go through a youth movement due to the skill level of their three prospects in AAA ERod, Gonzales and Jenkins. Larnarch and Wallner will start the season with the Twins, I can see them trading Larnarch especially if they sign Hoskins. On the IF the Twins are giving Lewis a last shot to reclaim his future at 3B and Lee as an IF as well. Culpepper will be ready at some point next season. Or atleast we hope. I hope the Twins keep both starting pitchers but with a strong enough offer, I can see the a trade. 2026 is a rebuilding year with a likely goal of .500 and a small chance of competing if enough goes right. Most likely a 70-75 win team is my expectation as the Twins set up to be competitive in 2027.
